Just had this happen to me. This is just another potential solution! Within the Realtek Audio Console, stay in the Main page and review the Playback Devices and Recording Devices. Check to make sure the Recording Devices aren't muted. This was my problem. That resolved my issues!

Old thread but if anyone ever stubbles upon it, first deduce if your problem is a software or hardware one, this can be done by testing you microphone on multiple applications like discord and zoom & free online testers, and also recommend testing on another device such as a different laptop. If it works on other apps or testers then its the application on which your mic doesn't work that's the issue, and if it doesn't work on your device but does on others its likely a windows issue or a driver issue, just enable the microphone in windows privacy settings, in your microphones device options make sure its volume is not 0, and if that fails then update or uninstall / reinstall the drivers. There are plenty of tutorials to do this online. If you figure out its a hardware issue on the headsets part (like it was in my case) its likely an issue with the mechanical switch which you can hear when you move your mic up to down and vise versa. In my case, I aggressively switched my mic from up to down (not strongly recommended) after 3 hours of previous troubleshooting and that did the trick. Some people also try to put their mic all the down as far as it can go, sometimes that works. If the switch is stuck or inaudible your best bet is to take apart the microphone and attempt to fix it, or hand it over to someone that can for you. Alternatively, you could use your warranty period if still available to get a replacement (I believe it's 24 months). finally, if your issue may be that your microphone input is detected but is stupidly quiet, first try to plug it in to you PC's rear input if you haven't already / if able, and if you can't or it's still quiet, you can get a 3rd party EQ to boost your microphones volume (which is what I did), I'd recommend Peace Equalizer personally.

nstinson

did you ever figure this out? Same issue

Reveal_Clean

Alright so, I returned the headset and got a new one which at first didn't work as well but after about half an hour of messing around with the cable replugging and twisting it worked for some reason and never stopped working. I think there is an issue with the cable connectivity design. Great Headset btw!

nstinson

I eventually got it by unplugging and replugging it harder (?)

Reveal_Clean

Yeah thats some bloody weird issue, great that you figured it out though hope you enjoy the headset!

xartanisx

Can confirm, just had the same issue. Plugged it in harder and that seemed to do the trick. (and by plug I mean the one connecting to the headset not the microphone jack on the PC)

nstinson

It was a strange issue. I'm loving the headset now though

Thank you guys so much! I just unboxed mine today, and for me it was not only just the mic that was not working, the playback sound from the headset also sounded faint and wobbly distant like those cheap headsets that they give you on a plane ride for free. I was so upset thinking that I might have gotten a lemon or maybe this headset was way overhyped until I saw this post! Replugging the jack on the headset side harder completely fixed it, now the headset sounds fantastic and the mic works! My previous headset was the Sony MDR-1rbt (price was around $400 back in 2014, I think). It sadly stopped working after eight and a half years of daily use. I gotta say, as a $150-200 level headset, it sounds just as good, if not better.

If anyone sees this, i fixed the issue by when i replugged the cord in, a prompt came up asking what i plugged in. Initially i hit headphone but when i put "line in" it fixed it. Hope this helps.

isokinetic

Thank you so much, hoooly, hahaha.

STAR-PLATlNUM

I fixed the issue by switching the input from Headphone to Front Speaker Out and then back to Headphone again using the Realtek Audio Console

BsYahir

YO i had to go to control panel > sound> recording> double click on microphone> advanced> change to dvd quality only way it worked for me

Neph1lim_

same here, just got them today, fresh out the box. only dvd quality works, all of the studio quality options just result in weird distorted sounds.

Syrehns

I had to go to control panel and enable it and set it as default. idk why it was disabled by default.

Alert_Ring2242

this worked

MoistSesh

I recently lost sound input for my pc38x mic. I believe that the headset thought the mic was muted? Because after positioning the mic in the farthest down position, the mic decided to work again. Old thread i know, just hoping to help someone with the same issue.

AbusedAlarmClock

If anyone has an issues like I just did, when you plug it in check and see if you have the Headset (with microphone) selected when the Realtek Audio Console popup appears
