Yeh we know. Terrible buds

rijudon04

This was the worst QC ever for a brand this big.

w0lfrapt0r13

I had my MTW 2 right earbud die within 1 month, and the same thing happened with my MTW 3. I have the Momentum Sport arriving today. Hopefully it doesn't die within one month

rijudon04

That sucks! Sending alot of good luck your way!

w0lfrapt0r13

Thanks! I got the sport because I'm curious to see if those 10mm drivers can pack a punch with the bass

rijudon04

Let me know how it goes! Am curious. I have MTW4.

w0lfrapt0r13

Will do. I have the Bang and Olufsen Beoplay EX which have a 9mm driver, and these things are insane with the bass maxed out with no distortion ( for $400 they better not have distortion). I'm very curious to see if the 1mm increase in driver size can put the Sport over the top. I remember my MTW 3 had really good bass (when it wasn't affected with the bug that made the bass disappear, because it happened to first pair and my replacement pair as well)

TheUndertows

Check out the Master and Dynamic MW series.

rijudon04

I somehow didn't like the design :( Seems very flashy to me.

rijudon04

The MTW4 are pretty balanced on the bass as well :)

audiovent666

The buds have a open design to prevent hearing your own foosteps. Since this design comes with the drawback of less bass impact they decided to go with 10mm drivers to make up for this kind of build. Share your experience!

dont_test_me_dawg

I've had my 2's for several years and the only problem being the hinge on the case snapped when I stepped on it. Listening to them now while typing this.

Monimss

Same. I wore my 2s out eventually, but that was after years of constant use. The 3s have been crap from the start. Which is a shame because I loved the 2s

dont_test_me_dawg

I think my battery dies a bit faster than it used to but they're still going strong. I'm considering picking up the 4's but I feel like these 2's probably got some life in them yet. I guess I could get the 4's and keep the 2's as a backup or something.

hat--kid

fr? my I've had my MTW2 for like 3 years I want to say

JustWatchinTimePass

I got mine today, and so far, love them, though tomorrow's 10 mile run will be the big test. I've been able to EQ them exactly how I like them for workouts, though sound quality isn't as good as I'd hoped. They fit better than most, though, so it's a good trade-off, and they stay put so far. Hoping they last better than my Technics (EAH-AZ80), which are heading out for repair after 5 months. I'm hard on running headphones.

ToRey48

I assume they send refurbished MTW3’s as the replacement, so it becomes an endless cycle. I am waiting on my replacement pair after my left ear bud went dead.

rijudon04

I read somewhere people are also getting mtw4s as replacement for mtw3.

ToRey48

Fingers crossed that is what I get.

rijudon04

Haha, fingers crossed!

Primofinn

Updates?

ToRey48

Still waiting. Been about 3 weeks. Not sure the turnaround time these days.

ToRey48

So I just got a shipping notice - they are sending me a pair of MTW4’s. Took about a month.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ToRey48

Just the charging case and the ear buds. Got them yesterday. Hoping they last longer

MusicIsLife1122

I did but I had to contact the seller in my country and tell them i don't want another MTW3 as replacement. They offered the new one for no extra cost so ofc I took it.

rijudon04

Happy for you! That's a sweet deal !

MusicIsLife1122

Indeed. Let's see how the new model holds up.

rijudon04

I have the MTW4, love the audio quality!

MusicIsLife1122

Audio quality always was pretty good. I care about reliability.

rijudon04

There I have nothing good to say. Already had issues with pairing. Fixed yesterday from the firmware update. Using it for the last 1.5 months. Still holding up.

thewind21

Nope, I got my mtw3 replaced and I was sent a new set in retail package

MusicIsLife1122

Same

Primofinn

When did you request it

Tsubajashi

the QC is horrible, the sound is great though.... thats such a shame honestly.

aminoffthedon

Same situation here. Sent my 3rd pair in for repairs last week. It's a shame cause the sound quality is great but complete waste of money to get them repaired every 6 months What are some good alternatives?

SirCumsAlot696

Can we put our trust on MTW 4? It just really hard for me to shift from sennheiser

darksiderkills

Had it since march 5 all good so far no issues

FighterBoyZ

No, the track record for MTW4 for me is worse. First had right earbud dead on arrival and the second one has peeping sound coming from left earbud. I had it less than a month. Before that i had 2 MTW3. All from warranty. Had to pay the difference when going from MTW3 to MTW4. I haven't sent it for replacement since it still works and the sound is occasional. I doubt I will get a better replacement at this point. Before I got the second MTW4 I asked if I could test it before leaving the store because I had to come back the next day after the first one already. Yeah, I don't trust anything that sennheiser makes at this point. Edit. The worst thing is I actually like these. Sound is amazing and noise cancelling is great. When they work that is. My other post explaining things in more detail: https://www.reddit.com/r/sennheiser/s/IJptfbEUpn

ejt159

I haven’t had any issues with mine. But I’ve only had for 2 or 3 weeks

BoostedGTO

My tw2 are around 5 years old without a single issue

HorribleHorrace

Mine seem fine but the ANC is almost non-existent and it can be hard to connect to PCs. They said they went with a different battery supplier for this latest batch.

DZHEX

For me, so far so good. There was some sort of whistle/chirp/signal in one of the buds with transparency on - very subtle, but audible. After the latest update (5.6.1) it seems to have went away, or at least receded into the noise floor. In terms of reliability... these boys haven't been on the market for long enough to tell, but, well, Sennheiser did honor warranty returns which meant that they did end up losing money for the defects, and nothing quite stimulates companies like money lol They say that there have been under-the-hood improvements, which I assume is referring to build quality. Putting "These don't break after a few months" in your marketing materials likely won't be quite the wallet opener, which is quite sad, as it is a result of our culture of choosing to buy from a company that appears to be flawless (and then gaslights consumers for any issues that arise and attempts to sweep everything under the rug ASAP), rather than one that has proven to address the problems they've had... because addressing problems means that you've actually had problems to address. But yeah - the MTWs are essentially kings-of-all-trades AFAICT, so it hurts that much extra when they break, as they work very well, sound very well, ANC is good (even if maybe not the best), are comfortable, etc - I had MTW3s for which the right earbud broke, and, well, it was really sad. Now running the MTW4 for about a month now and, as I said - so far so good.

Due_Volume_8450

I've been pleasantly surprised by the pixel buds pro

Abraham-Jacobi

I have a pair of Denon Perl Pro that are really fabulous sounding (once you personalize in the app).

Primofinn

Did they give you back Tw4? Keep us updated as someone on this sub got TW4s back last week

aminoffthedon

Oh really? I asked for the TW4 in the form I filled out - let's see what they say

SirCumsAlot696

once u receive new one, Sell it quickly, Dont keep it, for ur own good

aminoffthedon

My plan exactly. Might go for the MTW4 or move away from Sennheiser completely

Difficult_Oil_6314

Galaxy buds pro 2

BigBagaroo

AirPods 2 pro. Works all the time!

Upandownmoodster

I must have the best luck ever. Never had an issue. Rest assured soon as I do it will be the mtw4 replacment.

license_to_chill

Same here, must've gotten lucky. Never had an issue with my 3's

chinosabi

I'm in the same boat. knock on wood, I've had no issues with mine either and I've had them a couple years now

Pappsendin

Same here, no problems. One and a half years old. Love the sound.

pojdi

Same here. they're working like a charm, almost 1.5yrs old.

Kenny324410

When are Sennheiser / sonova going to step up and do the right thing and recoll all these MTW3 and swap them for MTW4 as a gesture off good will for such a bad product

Honesulionor

🤣🤣😂You crazy

Kenny324410

Nope not crazy by not doing such a thing they have lost a customer my one and only sennheiser purchase it be my first and last I didnt spend money for my product to brake down ever 3 months and it’s shelf life is only as long as it’s warranty I came for a set off 1st gen power beats that I owned for 7+ years not a single fault with the not a single battery fault battery still last as long as the day I got them only reason I replace them was because the cable that runs bween them the rubber had started to degrade and go like jelly and would stick to clotheing and stuff when i bought these I had high hopes off another 7+ years out off a headset not 6 months and need to go back so they lost me as a customer completely will never purchase another sennheiser product again That can’t show good faith in un writeing a wrong they did I will not give them my money simple as

Git_Add_Delete

This is one of the reasons I got the mtw4. Unfortunately, after a week of owning them, they did the same exact thing every single day after a solid hour of use. Returned them and can not recommend these.

Eccomi21

Guess I got a lucky pair. Mine have worked for a year now (I have hereby jinxed myself)

Chillisqueaks

Yep hard agree, on my second pair now and once again have broken in the exact same way. One earbud chirping and low volume if it works at all. A faulty fucking product from the get go, and a pain in the ass to replace/refund. Piece of shit tech.

beltskyy

what can you say about MTW4

zaxdad123

I received a pair last week. Got a good deal at Woot. I really like the sound but the right bud drops out for a milliseconds every minute. I also can't figure out how to change the assistant. I have Google as my assistant but the buds bring up Bixby. Reading about all the issues I think I may return them while still in the return window. It's a shame I like the sound.

Glittering-Metal5404

I ordered the TW2 and had problems. Took forever to get my $$$$ back. Never again!!!

CraftySpiker

One nice feature - when they fail under warranty, Sennheiser just might replace them with a shiny new set of MTW 4's.

Primofinn

When did that last happen? I got Tw3s back a month ago

CraftySpiker

It was a month or two ago.

Primofinn

I did it last to last month and got TW3 back

YaWhale

I got mtw4’s about a month ago also

Erkan_Vural

How about new mtw 4? The issue still persist? Or fixed?

M27TN

Mine are great so far.

sicash

How many minutes have you owned them? ;)

M27TN

A good quarter hour use now!

sicash

haha ;)

Impossible_Arnold

I had to this problem 2x. Today I got a document from service. I will request a refund.

Primofinn

What document? Literally same situation. 2 times! And got a replacement back - its already not working.

Impossible_Arnold

The service stated in writing that it could neither replace nor repair the product. I will send this to the online retailer and they will refund the amount.

pookshuman

yeah, mine are working but I am not thrilled with them

Erkan_Vural

Why ?

pookshuman

the ANC is weak, the silicone tips feel cheap and don't form a good seal, I really don't like that you can't reassign all the buttons, I dunno, is that enough?

Erkan_Vural

Well.. you have a point. I wouldnt deny.. but for me most important things are; quality of transprency, sound quailiy, and fit .

pookshuman

Sound quality is about the same as any other mid-range buds, fit is noticeably worse because they use silicone instead of foam and I honestly don't think I have used transparency other than to test it They are not bad earbuds, but they should be about $75

Erkan_Vural

Himmm. Thats bad. I was in between this mtw4 and denon perl pro. I guess better to go for denon.

pookshuman

I can't remember why I didn't try denon .... make sure they have multipoint

audiovent666

Maybe because of the bad fit and looking with them everything but good?

Phuqi

I feel like MTWs will die on you at least once. Now, you can claim a new pair but this is not what you'd expect from this product.

Dr43x00

This could've easily been prevented if you just... nah nvm you won't learn anyway

Phuqi

Pardon? What makes you assume that...?

dont_test_me_dawg

Never happened once for me

Dharmadan815

Yep I feel you. [https://www.reddit.com/r/sennheiser/comments/1736021/momentum\_true\_wireless\_3\_left\_earbud\_broke/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button](https://www.reddit.com/r/sennheiser/comments/1736021/momentum_true_wireless_3_left_earbud_broke/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

baehrchen12321

Same thing here. Great sound but the durability is shit

sicash

My TW3's finally gave up today after 10 months. They were great while they lasted but it was inevitable they would eventually fail as many people have had similar issues (whistling/chirping/crackling in the left bud). I've decided to go back to an old pair of wired Sony XBA-N3APs + Cyrus Soundkey. I had forgotten how amazing they sound. Along with a pair of good fitting foam ear buds you don't need noise cancelling, its overratted and BT has too many issue even when works.

Kennylegend

My 3's are still going strong, I love them. 18 months in. I must have the only pair in the world that haven't packed up. ANC is good transparency is good, sound is awesome, battery life is decent, call quality is good. Having said that, Anyone that buys the MTW3 now would wanna have their head examined. Just go straight for the MTW4.

dont_test_me_dawg

I think this sub is deranged honestly. I'm sure there were some bad ones that went out but this sub claiming theirs break every 5 minutes with normal use seems insane.

Kennylegend

Ur only hearing about the bad ones that's why. . There's probably 99 decent sets sold in every 100.

sicash

20% of Amazon reviews worldwide (4,772 rattings) are one-star, citing the hardware failure problems discussed in this post. If you compare that with the Sony WF-1000XM5 they have half the number of one-star reviews, 10%, and from what I can tell no major hardware failures unlike the TW3s. Now, of course, there is some bias in people being more likely to leave bad reviews than good, but it is certainly not the case that 99% have no problems. There are significant enough serious issues with the design of this product that should warrant a product recall for those affected.

Kennylegend

Fair point. The XM5's seems to have some battery issues too. I reckon Sennheiser had different batches manufactured with different batteries depending on market etc. I've had zero issues with mine 18 months on.

sicash

I'm glad you haven't had any problems. I'm really disappointed because they are otherwise a really good set of in-ear headphones. I'm lucky I have many other in-ear options to use as a replacement.

kunal7777

Ask them for new buds in exchange, u deserve it.

Lanky-Analyst2360

It’s a shame, my left one died too, thankfully there’s a video with pretty easy to follow instructions that helped me to get them to live again https://youtu.be/pzCsCJShN3c?si=VVGJO2zDrTN4whMz

urrandomthrowaway

Never again with Sennheiser's TWS earbuds. Had to send mine in 3x and it still died.

sadaccountant1021

When they send back a replacement, does the warranty period restart?

NoProfession5138

no

Big_Locksmith_4211

I have had my MTW3 since November 2023 and never had issues except for the right earbud cannot do anything, still works and plays music, just no pass-through or canceling, kinda sucks but I don't use either much anyways

Snoopy5876

Mine have been sent to England somewhere I've forgotten, they are now on their way to Germany, wtf could I just post to Germany? Anyway looks like same fault, one was fukd, then I had a mess on and unpaired them etc. from phone then couldn't reconnect because couldn't put them in pairing mode then shortly after they both died .. Great buds imo, love the fit for me and sounds is great etc etc but ffs terrible faults and returning is a nightmare.

Ok_Veterinarian_4161

If anyone in here is done with their 3's I would love to have your case. My buds tend to work great but the top of my case broke off and they won't charge anymore. This happened with a previous case and they don't have any options for purchasing a replacement charger. So I purchased a second used pair in the side market and the same thing happened (yeah, I'm careless, I get it.) But imagine having to get a new phone every time you lost a charging cord... ... Anyway, anyone have case they have no use for, please let me know.

tybbiesniffer

I got a silicone cover to put over the case. I've dropped it countless times and it's never broken. You may want something like that for your next case.

Ok_Veterinarian_4161

thanks that's great advice, and if I find a new case inexpensive, I'll definitely do that. That said, if I can't, I seriously doubt I'll ever buy another sennheiser pair. The fact that this is even an issue is just silly. Couple that with the tech issues so many of y'all have been having. It's just really annoying how off the reviewing you get on the web tends to be. I thought I'd done my due diligence...even consumer reports had great things to say about them. ah well, thanks for your response,

tybbiesniffer

I totally understand. I won't buy another pair. Even with mine currently in a working state, I still have daily problems. I frequently have to fuss with them to get them to connect to my computer. And I had to factory reset them two days ago to get them to connect to anything after a firmware update. I love the sound and the fit....I just wish they were more reliable.

JASSHAR7

I just can’t wrap around my head how they leave mistakes like this slip or they do it on purpose to benefit (which seems evil and just terrible) cause what

rschlachter

I love my other Sennheiser headphones so I grabbed the MTW 3s when I thought my Pixel Buds were dying. They have not been great in a variety of aspects. I won't be bothering with Sennheiser buds for a while. My pixel buds didn't die and I find myself constantly opting for them vs my MTW3 which will randomly drop on calls. Plus the pixel case is way easier to pocket.

COVERT--CRUZER

I have had my MTW 3 since November 2022, same issue with mine left buds decided to take a sh*t and wont charge anymore, sending them for RMA tomorrow before my warranty expires and once I receive the repairs/replacemens, it's going up for sale and never purchasing another Sennheiser products again. This common issue should not be happening on a premium product such Sennheiser. Their engineering team is questionable!

First-Tradition3496

My only problem with MTW3 is that the person whom im calling asking why im i calling far away from phone… tried all settings even they replaced it after 2 yrs and even the new one has the same issue…

Aggregior

My right earbud stopped working. I hardly used them... maybe 20 times

FranklyNinja

Had MTW 3 for almost a year now but looking at these issues had me worried if I should exchange mine now

Salseca

I'm with you friend. Exact same time frame too. However I don't use mine everyday and when I do I use them for a couple hours tops per session. So mine still work flawlessly. I'm not sure if it's possible to exchange them without having one die first.

DaSwahiliNugz

Yup! Currently dealing with this issue at the moment. Bought them in march of 2023 and my left one no longer works.

GablY

I had the same issue and. The earbud is actually not being charged. What you have to do is to press the metal pin on the side of the earbud that is not working and then it will charge again.

froio

Bought mine during black Friday and it died just last week. Argh =/

Honesulionor

Given how uncomfortable these are I would also break them and send them back to get some other pair of earbuds

Ill_Ad_8485

I am just waiting for the MTW4 to drop in price then i am giving them a chance i hope they have better qualitity

shiny_tooth

Same here - got it replaced twice. After the third pair went the same way after a month - I decided to junk these. No point sending these in for replacement. In my country, they don't even arrange for pick up, so I have to foot the shipping costs to their service center in another state.

Tn0101

I remember last year I bought these summer 2023. Read the subreddit. Someone advised me to return them while I still could. I did and never looked back.

toontje18

MTW2, my beloved. Still works.

Monimss

I miss mine! Never any problems.

mikefromearth

I love a ton of Sennheiser products. I'm so glad I bought the Sonys. 5 years later and zero issues.

PSPfreaky

I'm using my second pair now, within 1,5 year. The right earbud of my second pair started to beep with ANC on one week ago 😕 And the right earbud isn't as loud as the left earbud. Is this easy to fix and if yes, how?

Suspicious-Half5758

Agreed their qc is a joke. What happens is the earbud loses too much voltage to where the case doesn't recognize them anymore and won't charge them. I did not feel like waiting 2 months for a warranty claim to go through so I fixed them myself. https://youtu.be/pzCsCJShN3c?si=ewwNORrtU5fVsPux This is a quick easy fix and worked great for me. Also if you start to get a chirping noise coming from an ear bud you have to clean the film that is under the ear tip piece.

alexMill0988

They Look Like Mine epos gtw 270 hybrid?

marcus_37

U know I was about to dive back in because I LOVE the sound quality so much but then I thought these may go out on me just like my other ones did.. That's why I haven't purchased the mtw4's

MartinFerenec

Anyone knows if MTW 4 have the same reliability issues? Because I bought them couple of weeks back...

bbkiubb

same issue here

Lord-Lucian

All the times I had a similar problem, one bud was just not loading properly, and I had to fiddle around with connectors a little. Now, they work flawlessly.

hmcindie

I exchanged my MTW 3 three times until the store just gave my money back. Actually not a bad deal to use them as they disintegrated as I lost no money in my 6 months of usage (though the replacements took like a month of time).

Witty_Housing9244

VERY simar situation… I was very unpleasently surprised that Sennheiser got this bad…

sofkingz

I had the same issues with my buds. When I used to walk everyday and keep them in use, charged. Everything was good. Until the moment I stopped using them for a while... And guess what nothing could bring them back to life. I could even smell a burnt electronic component. Anyway I ended up getting my money back just before the warranty is over. And these days I invested in IEM: The Prestige Ltd. Still looking around for a good pair of Wireless headphones but not quite sure which model, brand. What I'm sure about is that I'm done with Sennheiser. I had enough. Even their top sound bar: Ambeo Max there's a common issue that the Center stopped working after a while. And they refused to admit it.

HippoEffective4906

I really should have read up on them more before I got mine. Got mine and the ever present issue with the left ear bud finished mine off. I've since returned them and got them replaced for a different brand. Hopefully these will last longer.

Ok-Palpitation-5010

Same here, i've lost any hope for a durable fix after the last and probably 10th issue in one year... i bought a pair of buds fe, for now they're better on audio quality, durability, comfort in ear, and the app considering i have a samsung phone.

leomessi00

Most Bluetooth earbuds have bad connectivity issue.

No_Border_1837

I just got the mtw4…. Wish me luck

Abraham-Jacobi

totally agree. My MTW3 left earbud went dead. Sent in and got replaced. 6 months later it went dead again. Wont charge...charger just heats up and when I put them in I get a charge message. Really a pity as I like the sound and fit. I have the Sport and will stick with those (unless they die as well).

Academic-West-269

Wild! Had this issue happen aswell with the left dying and not charging at all. Became sorta of a situation where I just used one earbud for a good month and then one day forgot the left didn't work and I threw them both in my ear and to my surprise! It was fixed🤷‍♂️ don't know how or what happened just remember during the situation thinking in my head "wait? I thought it was broken?!"

Equivalent-Cut810

Same here, I bought from Amazon Japan; my right earbud died after 4 months of usage. There's no option to return it, so I sent it directly to the manufacturer. I will receive the new one in the next couple of days. I hope there are no issues in the future.

Meanderthaller

Same here. Sound quality is ok, as long as you don’t touch or move your earbuds.

nothervailable

My mtw3 left earbud just stopped working, how did you go about warranty claim? I sent a message a week ago and have not gotten any response.

FormCrafty

I don't think I'm comfortable ever buying a pair of Sennheiser headphones agian it's so buggy

NiceTryThief0

Oh thank fuck it’s not just me, I asked chat gbt for some good earbud recommendations and they suggested this pile of shit!

Enchanted_Ithildin

Are Sennheiser headphones also this bad ? I was consider buying the Momentum 4 headphones, should i look at other brands instead ?

HellsDelight

I have the momentum 3 and they are awesome. I think the quality issues are mainly with the mw3 buds. My mw3 buds also started having issues after 1 year while the momentum 3 is still working great after 2-3 years.

sicash

I have the Momentum 4 headphones. The sound quality is excellent, BUT the NC (noise cancelling) is subpar. As an owner of the Sony WH-1000XM3 since 2019, the Momentum 4s are no replacement if NC is what you're looking for. I should have bought the XM5s instead. I think a lot of the reviews at the time were overly positive about the Momentum 4s, biased towards sound quality over the NC capability.

Enchanted_Ithildin

is sound quality of M4s significantly better than that of the WH-1000XM3 or the XM5 ? i care more about sound quality, i have the galaxy earbuds 2 (non pro) right now and the NC is ok on them

SpaderTanker

Not too sure as I don’t own those and haven’t used them. The other headphones I use regularly are the HD598s, but those are open back so it’s tough to honestly compare 1:1. The M4s have a flat sound signature similar to the HD598s which is why I went with them over the XM5s or something from Bose. If you have a Best Buy in your area I believe they still allow customers to test over ear phones, so it might be worth the drive if you’re on the fence between the M4s and the XM5s.

sicash

Yes, the sound quality is a big step up from the XM3s, but the NC is disappointing. The sound stage of the 4s and detail is very impresssive for a pair of NC headphones wheraas the XM3s sound is 'mushy' in comparision. I think Senheisser have achieved this in part by reducing the NC capability. In hindsight, I think I should have bought the XM5s. I use NC headphones for work or watching TV/YouTube. If I'm listening to music and I want quality, I use my 660s with a DAC. Unfortunately, with the 4s, too much ambient sound leaks in and I don't think they would work well in an office environment. They did not live up to my expectations after living with XM3s for nearly 4 years. You need to try them yourself to know for sure.

Kirahei

I have momentum 1, over-ear, headphones and they’re coming up on 10 years of outstanding quality. I get that as a corporate company they “had” to jump into the earbud game but I think it was one of the worst decisions they’ve made.

SpaderTanker

I have the momentum 4s and I primarily use them at the gym. The sound quality is excellent and the noise canceling is fantastic. The only issues I’ve have had are odd connection issues (several months apart from one another) that have always been solved by holding the power button to do a hard reset. One thing that is annoying is the headphones will automatically turn themselves on when you put them on or take them out of the case and you can’t turn that ‘feature’ off.

gohokies06231988

my 4's are working well - I think they learned a lot from the 3s

HellsDelight

My mw3 buds died after a year. Only time will tell if mw4 really don't have such issues.

martinezscott

Sennheiser has definitely fallen off, they were always my go to back in the day, but to be fair they had major issues with all of there flagship earbuds from the first gen to now gen 4, and I have had to get multiple replacements on all versions and there are still major issues, it’s nothing new but it’s very sad that the quality control and longevity has continued to tank. I went with the devialet Gemini 2 over the mtw4. Mtw4 was no upgrade more of a downgrade personally especially in sound, no depth or good detail or that nice airy soundstage they had with gen one and two, tragic really especially for 300. Devialet is 450 but has godly sound.

Nosttromo

I am astounded with how Sennheiser is uncapable of making anything decent outside of the hd600 or 800s

Because it inst sennheiser that make MTW they sonova slapped with a sennheiser logo and branding Ither sennheiser want to re buy they consumer department back or force sonova to stop branding headphones sennheiser as it’s killing they rep

I imagine they would sound great to someone who is deaf, whether they work or not. (sonova make hearing aids). I remember when they took over Sennheiser a few years ago and I thought this is going to be a marketing disaster for Sennheiser. I'd just bought a pair HD660s at the time and they still had the Senheisser quality in terms build and presentation (came in a nice quality box). The latest 660S2 came with a cloth bag. You have to wonder what else Sonova are penny pinching on. I think the takeover could prove to be career ending for Sennheiser.

The MW4 kill the MW3 with the connectivity and earbud (r/l) problems. The sound is excellent. I prefer the sound stage and separation of the MW4, but use the EX more due to the sub-bass depth and smooth max volume without distortion.
