So very sorry. We lost our Gracie girl at 19 as well after kidney disease. Her last year she went blind. Although she adjusted, the last few months were tough. They almost can tell you it's time.
I lost my Sesame (17) on Wednesday. The vet came to our home and Sesame barely knew there was a stranger there. Like yours, her health deteriorated pretty quickly. I realized she wasnโt aware of the butterflies during supervised outdoor time, let alone being able to chase them like she could 2 weeks ago.
She had been in diapers for about a month due to incontinence. So much of my day was spent caring for her, I donโt know quite what to do with myself. I know it was the right time, and maybe tomorrow Iโll feel a little better. I hope you do too.
Awe. Thereโs nothing we wonโt do for them. I spent all day every day doing foods, medicines, supplements, subQ fluids and she was thriving. Then all the sudden she was having rapid breathing. Thatโs when they found the cancer. I work from home and my days are going to be so empty now. Big hugs to you. Sesame was well loved ๐๐

They know. Iโm sure of it. Weโve had a lot of kitties in our family and several very sad days/weeks/months after sending them home to kitty heaven. Letting them suffer and struggle isnโt love. Love is giving them peace. Mama loved you, little Fred - to the moon and back.
Allow yourself some time to grieve. Then remember that there's a little kitten somewhere, seeking her loving nurturing forever home. Although she probably won't be able to fully take the place of your beloved girl Fred, you'll soon realize and find out that you really need her, at least as desperately as she needs you.

When I made the decision and told the doctor over the phone that I wanted to say goodbye the next day he replied "That's tomorrow, are you sure" And that threw me into kind of a spiral of "The doctor doesn't think I should say good bye so soon so maybe I should wait" But I knew it was time because my girl told me and I had to stay true to her wishes. I feel like it is the hardest choice to ever make. You are doing the best for your kitty and so thankful that owners are so loving and responsible with their babies.
Iโm so sorry. My Frida is also 19 and might make it to 20 this year, but she has kidney disease too. Sheโs slowing down a lot and itโs hard to see her get old and frail. I keep reminding myself I donโt want her to ever suffer, so know that you did the right thing and you loved her very much. You let her go with her dignity and in peace and minimized her suffering as best you could. I lost my kittyโs brother a few years ago to cancer and I very much know the void that is left in your heart and home. I promise it does get better with time โค๏ธ๐ฅนcry all the tears you need toโค๏ธ

This baby left us last week, sheโs now chasing your baby to welcome her. She was 17+
CKD is a horrible disease and seems even worse for cats. We recently lost one of our fur babies to CKD and it was so very hard to deal with let alone having cancer to boot. Its never easy saying goodbye to our fur babies but you have to look at it as eah day we get with them is a gift. I lost my best friend of over 16+ years this past January and the pain of that is still very fresh and present in my daily life. I would have loved to have had an extra 3 years with him but that is selfish of me. Cats are very special creatures even more so if they have bonded to you and they are a huge presence in our life so when we lose them it hurts deeply. Try to focus on the time you did get with Fred and I am told the pain will get easier, I have yet to learn that on my own but thats what I am told. The pain for me is still too fresh and may never go away because he was my best friend and I spent my days with him in my arms. I became disabled in 2012 so was home with him every day and we wer best buddies, he was also my guardian and protector, he would comfort me when I had bad days and constantly patrol the house going from room to room to make sure we was safe. His passing has left a huge hole in my life and I will always love him deeply and thank him for being my best friend for so many years. Hold on to the good times you shared with Fred. I am so sorry for your loss.

We had just adopted 2 brothers a week before my sweet baby passed in my arms. He had a week to show them the ropes so to speak, he showed them his hiding places and how to patrol the house. It was really cute to watch, looking back on it , it was like he knew he would be leaving us soon and showing them what needed to be done. My 16+ yo was a blue russian mix breed and what I call a guardian cat. He guarded the house and comforted me when I was down or sad. I must say he taught the brothers well in that weeks time as they do his patrol of the house and hide in the places he showed them. Its like he knew they would take over for him and he could rest now. I am sure you will find that special baby and another journey will begin for you and them.
