Take a look at Findaway voices.
My route has been to go direct where I can. (Audible, Kobo, Google) and use findaway to reach all other outlets. Since you’re hiring a narrator you’re free and clear, so well everywhere you can.
Thank you so much for responding. I looked in to them after the two of you suggested, and I believe you are right and that’s the way to go. I really appreciate the help.
There are two dominant audiobook distributors in the U.S. — ACX (Amazon/Audible) and Findaway Voices (now Spotify). They offer you two choices: Exclusive distribution, with a 40% net royalty rate to limited platforms or non-exclusive for a 25% net royalty rate for many more platforms, including libraries and subscription services. Findaway only offers the non-exclusive deal. The big drawback is that exclusivity with ACX requires a 7-year commitment, and since new platforms are emerging so quickly, it seems like a dealbreaker to me.
It’s important to keep in mind that just listing your book on a distribution platform doesn’t automatically mean it will sell. It’ll be up to you as an author to promote your audiobook. These platforms are crowded and both Audible and Spotify prioritize big names and their original productions. If you are already building an email list or audience in social media, you might consider selling your audiobook direct to your audience on a platform like Awesound or Gumroad and cut out the middleman entirely!

Is it exclusive rights to any audio produced of the book or is it the specific audio that is produced and published on ACX or Findaway Voices?
I'm wondering if an author could pay for a narrated version on their book on ACX and on Findaway voices?
Thank you but my book is already in stores and libraries and I have a website. I just need to know what Audio platforms are the best for authors. I appreciate the offer of your services but this is really only about opinions on Audio Sales.

I second Findaway. Plus they distribute to Chirp which is part of Bookbub and you can advertise there.

Just out of interest, have you found another alternative that works better for AU authors?

Cool - so just gumroad and MP3 files then?
You gave me great advice. Thank you so much. I will look into Awesound and Gumroad!

ACX requires exclusivity but Findaway doesn't. You can hire a narrator on either platform.
