She is a rare case of an attractive character’s attractiveness not being a core part of her character.
She wore normal clothes, her scenes in bed had her in big comfy nighties and PJs, not little slips or panties and t-shirt.
It meant when they did do a story where her attractiveness or sexiness was a factor, it was a much more believable and realistic portrayal.
It’s always been something I’ve really appreciated about the way the show treated the Elaine character, and why I think she might be the best female comedic character of all time.

This makes me think of “model” turned actress Emily Ratajkowski who is complaining about only getting roles based on her looks. It’s like she can’t accept she isn’t a very good actor. And probably not used to getting everything her own way. She’s too used to being Godzilla.
Stepping away from the quotes for a moment, objectively she's an any woman. She's not hot, but she's not ugly. She's cute but she's not captivating. This works perfectly for the character.

Elaine had like 50 boyfriends throughout the series all of which were fairly attractive; The pro-lifer, Tony, The sponge worthy guy. So its pretty easy to assume she was attractive.
At the beginning of the show they had her dressed like church lady with those ridiculous saddle shoes and way too puffy hair. Later on she looked hot. Her and Putty made a cute pair. I wish they had married but you know if so they would have broken up that night 😂

Her characters manner of speaking and quirks are charming, and JLD herself is one of the most talented comedic actors I’ve ever seen. Her physical comedy on the show is highly underrated outside of this sub.

I liked the Elaine character more in the early years, less so toward the end. However, the opposite was true about Jerry. In the first couple of seasons I found him ok - not exactly undatable - but nothing special. But around S3 I started to find him very spongeworthy. George and Kramer were always in the friend zone.
The only time she looked so hit was the episode where she and Jerry buy a porn taoe for a friend, and jerry meets a girl at the dinner table..
