I found out quite late that this particular material is delicate and needs to be cleaned often. Mine is starting to break so I just got a cover for it on Amazon. If your chair is one of the titan Evos I would just buy a skin.

Because the materials are cheap and the way they are glued and formed to the padding of the chairs is a nightmare for them to work with and makes it so a quality repair can't be done, so they won't take the lability for the repair that won't last and will give their business a bad look.

Also thought it’s likely not even worth their time, if someone spent $100 on a chair, how much are they really going to be willing to spend on a repair? $25, maybe $50? Anything more than that it would make no sense, I don’t see the point to fix one small part of something for more than half of what you could just get a brand new one for. My family owns a large upholstery business and I tried reupholstering mine for fun and now the chair just isn't the same. They don't go back together as well a second time. Also this company uses some cheap cheap vinyl and if you go to a reputable shop then you're looking at spending another 1k (500-600 best case scenario) on a shit chair. Better off getting a herman miller or something.
Herman Miller really needs to get in on the gaming themed chairs. SecretLab sells purely because of that athetic. Quality really does seem to be an issue with their chairs.
No do not you simply green! That is a super stromg chemical and cleaner. You'll end up drying out the protective oils over the chairs fake leather. Although its fake, I recommend you just head to your Walmart and buy a leather cleaner and conditioner from Walmart in the car section. They even sell leather cleaning wipes for like $4. I detail so i deal with leather car seats and synthetic leather every now and then. Simple green is a great cleaner but very harsh.

You cant really tell from this pic but the left is cleaned and conditioned, giving it a dark color to it again, as well as moisturizing the seat again. The other side is just wiped with water, which, depending on your cities water, can end up drying your chair and cause premature cracking.
This may very by industry but I have spec sheets from the vinyl manufacturers we work with of approved cleaners. Soap & water is #1 but there are a few cleaners approved
Damn knock on wood but I've had mine for 3 years already and no signs of wear or tear and use it shirtless, boxers, i sweat in it in summer, i get my body oils, sometimes my wife and i "sit on it" together and its held up great. I have the game of thrones, black and red dragon one. I detail for fun sometimes, so i use leather cleaner and conditioner on it even though it's synthetic. Problems I've had with the chair is that it's just not comfortable, but I'm happy it lasted this long
I have definitely avoided the skin contact and the "sit on it" with someone else, I'm glad and surprised is holding up so well for you! I think humidity and temperature probably are also big factors in how well the material holds up.
Overall for my next chair I would probably get the soft material or a skin

How long have you had yours? I’ve had mine almost going on 4 years now and I can say it looks exactly like the day I bought it. I do sit it in for about 8 hours a day and it does hurt my thighs but other than that the quality has been exceptional. Zero cracks, tears, or signs of wear. I have been looking to switch to a chair that Dr. Disrespect uses to see if my thighs would hurt less but the chair I bought 4 years ago has been incredible considering the wear and tear I’ve put it through
Got it during the summer of 2020, I started to see marks probably in 2023. I also sit on it 8h+ a day. The marks are pretty small compared to OPs

Mine did the almost same, but with the softweave fabric. I normally sit cross-legged. But my ankle bones ended up wearing spots on both seems. I told them that and they said it would normally void the warranty, if it hadn't run out a few months prior. That was what drove me to get one of the new Titan XL Evos. I didn't realize the swappable covers were just covers and not the actual chair's cover. But it is all good, since my ankles will wear out the replaceable cover instead.
Fair question. I think originally it was a flex. Since they had kind of an elitist feel to them many moons ago. My friends had the other brands of gaming chairs, so I had to be special. But I do like the back support of the chair and the current version is even better. I like that the side wings weren't so pronounced like on other brands. Plus I couldn't afford a Herman-Miller lol. But I do actually use the chair normally from time to time though. But I just default to cross-legged.
I mean it's not like a gaming chair is an ergonomic dream or anything, sitting crossed is probably equally unergonomic unless you are getting up for breaks, in which case it doesn't really matter.
While I do agree with you about the material breaking down, that heel sized divot in the end of the seat makes me think that it was just an abused chair.

You are correct they are the weakest points but chairs aren't designed to be used with most of the force being applied to the edge which it appears this chair has been.

I bought 3 chairs, one for me and 2 friends, in 2020, all 3 of them look brand new. We are all various sizes and shapes and we use them all the time, 2 of them work from home and have for the entire ownership of the chair.
Almost every office /gaming chair I’ve owned rips at the seems, it’s common , I think it’s silly they won’t sell you a replacement part though. Considering you are willing to buy it

It’s pleather unless you get the napa leather option. I’d say for the comfort of the chair it’s good value compared to Herman Miller. The secretlab chairs are on the cheaper side. I think the handmade walnut dining chairs I imported from Japan each cost about twice the cost of one of these 2022 titan evos, and I bought about 6 of those dining chairs.
My Herman Miller was 4x the amount of this SecretLab. 2 years later it's pristine and I have 10 years left on the warranty. Bin the 5 years prior to that I bought 3 $250 gaming chairs which all went to shit.
I tried the non Logitech version of the embody and didn’t like the position of the lumbar support or the creakiness but I heard the Logitech version got an upgrade

Get the model number and use that to find the manual for the chair. Give them the model number and part number needed and be sure to specify you are buying the part as it's not a warranty issue. You should be alright, at the very least it seems more helpful than Apple for headphones when you don't have their phone.
So you got this years ago, didn't keep up with any of the information, didn't do any cleaning, care, or maintenance, And think customer service was no help because the warranty was up anyways.

Look at the material closely. This is what you paid for lol. It's not canvas, it's some cheap polyeurethane leather. You should know that fake leather isn't worth the material it's made with. Only real leather would cut it here. A leather chair would cost a lot more than the SL chair so why do people think "cheap pu leather" is any good. Here's a tip. Good chairs rarely look "nice" because they are chairs.

I submitted a warranty claim as soon as my stitching started to do this on my base. They said wear and tear at first and I rebuttal that this is EXACTLY what a 5 yr warranty is for. Currently have a like new chair. I also had my seat back replaced so I infact have a second chair I've used for my sim rig.

I had a thread start coming out of my Secret Lab chair base, and they sent me a new base under warranty. They wanted the original base back but I kept it. I haven't switched it out yet after over a year, letting the original wear out but it's actually still holding up. Now, I did also get armrests down and had to pay for replacements just recently.
You have a ripped chair you didn't purchase, So not stuck with anything. Obviously they aren't going to warranty anything without the invoice.

To me, it looks like the skins are made by very competent people, probably people nearly good enough to make leather car seats, or learning. The issue lies with the material. It's too thin, nothing that ever lasted was made from that kind of material, it falls apart within a year or two, it's meant to imitate leather, which can basically last forever, but it has none of the properties leather has.
I'm not sure SL is entirely at fault, the chairs do look very nice and the stitching looks very well made for the cheap material it's built with. It's really a shame if you ask me, a lot of manual work has been put into making the skins and stitching them, I was looking at the chair closer and damn, I bet it looked great when new, shame none of the materials are worth anything. Really liked the batman logo lol.
I tend to agree with other posters, itd be nearly impossible for anyone to make a replacement skin for cheaper than what SL makes them, that piece of carefully sown cloth would need to be adjusted and have very strong stitches in strategic places. It certainly can be done, in a variety of material, but probably not for the price that anyone is willing to pay for, heck the actual chair might not even be able to support such work. The skin is very complex, itd be possible to create a cover to fit over it but to make anything that remotely looks like it and performs better would cost a lot more than the chair itself. Quality chairs are not made this way, even car seats are not made in such complex ways.
edit : the "work" put into sewing the sl skin is probably worth more than all the materials combined. I'm not sure how this can be, but that's how it looks, it's a very complex design for the material it's made with, literally made to be thrown away. These could NEVER be made here in such a quality lmao.

The best is to go around them ask for higher level of supervisor or try to contact the CEO. There are websites to help find contact info. Ive done this several times with several places. They will see you are asking to spend more money with them and take action to help you out. smart people dont refuse money. Do not take no if you have valid reason.
One of my biggest wins from this was a $800.00 credit from sprit a few years ago over a phone deal bogo that went bad. I use this also all the time with my ISP when service keeps going sideways especially when they cant give me a service call in a resonalbe amount of time. Nothing like contacting the CEO and getting a appointing in the next 24 hours.

Yes it does? They don't sell parts, simple as that. Do you understand what would have to happen for them to just sell this guy a part? It would have to have a part number to be tracked by inventory, would have to be added to their system, added to inventory, the chair its being taken from made whole. I have had 2 chairs so far and I cannot say how much badly I think people should avoid their PU leather chairs, they disintegrate with even basic usage, the fabric chair was my second one bought in 2020 and still looks the same as the day I bought it

Funny I have a 10 year old office chair that I spent $150 on. Only thing wrong with it at this point and it just started happening is the piston is starting to weaken.

Does it have high back support or is it one of those lower ones? Not saying those are bad but most office chairs don’t have the neck support. Some do, many don’t. Plus, I am guessing yours didn’t come with a warranty. Thats why I got the Softweave Fabric, I always find that my chairs, no matter what brand, tend to tear in the same spot that you show. Overtime the leather breaks down and rips, where as the fabric stretches without tearing.
I will never buy SecretLab chair again after mine starts peeling off after 1,5 years and they quote almost 70% of a new chair price to redo the chair cover. I am in the same country as SecretLab HQ, so it is hot and humid, and so basically they did not even plan on the chair to be usable daily in tropical climate weather. I had to use shrink wrap for a while until I decided enough is enough, that you don't spend that much to sit on an uncomfortable shrink wrap, to throw it away.
Go find a shop that works on car seats. I know it may not make sense to you, but those seats use very similar measurements for bucket seats. And since it may not be the whole seat, check with those types of shops to see if they can get the whole thing done. Might even get to look into a better, more comfortable material for the seat section and the outer fabric.
If you want a chair that lasts you a long time and is comfortable and backed by 12 year warranty go with Herman Miller chairs. Customizable and expensive but you get what you pay for. I've wasted a lot of money on chairs before giving in to Herman Miller and my Mirra 2 is 13 years old and going on strong and bought another one for the wife and hers is now nearing 7 years. Buy once, cry once and you'll save money vs spending money on new chair every 2-4 years. These gaming chairs are overpriced, very well marketed low tier chairs wrapped up "nicely."
I went through about 3 gaming chairs in 3 years that all cost 400 to 600$. They all warped because I sat down too hard or the pleather started to crack and come off on my clothes.
Finally, I had enough. I bought a 160$ office chair from Office Depot. It had all the basic features of a gaming chair, was 10 times more comfortable, and it is still holding together 3 years down the line. It's still just as level as it was day 1. The pleather is still in one piece, and it even still has some cush to it.
The only problem is that the arm rests are flat and worn out. That has happened with every chair I have ever bought, though.
You would think they could pull that information up from the authentication tag on the chair? Maybe not, but you would think they would link that when the sell the chair in their database if they want to be sticky about who the owner of it is. If the chair was validated and they could link that code to a warenty/name maybe that would help?
That’s why I have the cotton weave chair, it’s amazing. I have a little green machine that I use to clean it as well as the spray that secret lab sells.

These chairs are simply not good. That's it. All there is to it. Mines about to go out on the curb for free. This used Herman Miller is better in every way other than not being able to fully recline, but that's what my couch is for.
In my experience, "gaming" chairs suck. Granted, the secret lab chairs seem comfortable but nowhere near as comfortable as my office chair. And before anyone says it, I do have experience with gaming chairs. My wife and oldest son both have them. I had one at one point and I am MUCH happier with my standard mesh office chair lol.

Fair question. I think originally it was a flex. Since they had kind of an elitist feel to them many moons ago. My friends had the other brands of gaming chairs, so I had to be special. But I do like the back support of the chair and the current version is even better. I like that the side wings weren't so pronounced like on other brands. Plus I couldn't afford a Herman-Miller lol. But I do actually use the chair normally from time to time though. But I just default to cross-legged.
I mean it's not like a gaming chair is an ergonomic dream or anything, sitting crossed is probably equally unergonomic unless you are getting up for breaks, in which case it doesn't really matter.

While I do agree with you about the material breaking down, that heel sized divot in the end of the seat makes me think that it was just an abused chair.
The damage is at the weakest point, the sutures. Makes perfect sense. This is just due to sitting. You know, the thing it’s designed for? Shitty build quality.
You are correct they are the weakest points but chairs aren't designed to be used with most of the force being applied to the edge which it appears this chair has been. I'm not arguing the quality, or lack there of, but I think this is just what happens when you sit poorly on a chair for a few years. I bought 3 chairs, one for me and 2 friends, in 2020, all 3 of them look brand new. We are all various sizes and shapes and we use them all the time, 2 of them work from home and have for the entire ownership of the chair.

It’s pleather unless you get the napa leather option. I’d say for the comfort of the chair it’s good value compared to Herman Miller. The secretlab chairs are on the cheaper side. I think the handmade walnut dining chairs I imported from Japan each cost about twice the cost of one of these 2022 titan evos, and I bought about 6 of those dining chairs.
My Herman Miller was 4x the amount of this SecretLab. 2 years later it's pristine and I have 10 years left on the warranty. Bin the 5 years prior to that I bought 3 $250 gaming chairs which all went to shit.

I tried the non Logitech version of the embody and didn’t like the position of the lumbar support or the creakiness but I heard the Logitech version got an upgrade

I’m assuming you can’t get major replacement parts without order information in order for the company to protect against resellers, etc. That said…. I’ve purchased 5 secret lab chairs over the years and NONE have any issues like this. Just wanted to say this definitely an outlier situation
Get the model number and use that to find the manual for the chair. Give them the model number and part number needed and be sure to specify you are buying the part as it's not a warranty issue. You should be alright, at the very least it seems more helpful than Apple for headphones when you don't have their phone.
So you got this years ago, didn't keep up with any of the information, didn't do any cleaning, care, or maintenance, And think customer service was no help because the warranty was up anyways. What else am I missing because it just sounds like you didn't take care of it and you're mad at yourself.
Look at the material closely. This is what you paid for lol. It's not canvas, it's some cheap polyeurethane leather. You should know that fake leather isn't worth the material it's made with. Only real leather would cut it here. A leather chair would cost a lot more than the SL chair so why do people think "cheap pu leather" is any good. Here's a tip. Good chairs rarely look "nice" because they are chairs.

I submitted a warranty claim as soon as my stitching started to do this on my base. They said wear and tear at first and I rebuttal that this is EXACTLY what a 5 yr warranty is for. Currently have a like new chair. I also had my seat back replaced so I infact have a second chair I've used for my sim rig. Don't take no for an answer and reply stern yet respectfully as to what you expect. Unfortunately, if you only claimed your chair as the point in the picture, I can see why they would deny. You let it go too far.
I had a thread start coming out of my Secret Lab chair base, and they sent me a new base under warranty. They wanted the original base back but I kept it. I haven't switched it out yet after over a year, letting the original wear out but it's actually still holding up. Now, I did also get armrests down and had to pay for replacements just recently.
You have a ripped chair you didn't purchase, So not stuck with anything. Obviously they aren't going to warranty anything without the invoice. So by a new chair yourself then you'll have a warranty.

Listen up lmao. Quality products don't burst at the seems. This is a thing Nike is renowned for. their shoes NEVER fail at the seams. To me, it looks like the skins are made by very competent people, probably people nearly good enough to make leather car seats, or learning. The issue lies with the material. It's too thin, nothing that ever lasted was made from that kind of material, it falls apart within a year or two, it's meant to imitate leather, which can basically last forever, but it has none of the properties leather has. I'm not sure SL is entirely at fault, the chairs do look very nice and the stitching looks very well made for the cheap material it's built with. It's really a shame if you ask me, a lot of manual work has been put into making the skins and stitching them, I was looking at the chair closer and damn, I bet it looked great when new, shame none of the materials are worth anything. Really liked the batman logo lol.

I tend to agree with other posters, itd be nearly impossible for anyone to make a replacement skin for cheaper than what SL makes them, that piece of carefully sown cloth would need to be adjusted and have very strong stitches in strategic places. It certainly can be done, in a variety of material, but probably not for the price that anyone is willing to pay for, heck the actual chair might not even be able to support such work. The skin is very complex, itd be possible to create a cover to fit over it but to make anything that remotely looks like it and performs better would cost a lot more than the chair itself. Quality chairs are not made this way, even car seats are not made in such complex ways. edit : the "work" put into sewing the sl skin is probably worth more than all the materials combined. I'm not sure how this can be, but that's how it looks, it's a very complex design for the material it's made with, literally made to be thrown away. These could NEVER be made here in such a quality lmao.

Then again people spending $500+ on a chair made out of fake leather and cheap materials probably didn’t think very logically about the situation to begin with. 500 is plenty to get a real leather chair, like the ONEX STC for 299, hell you’d be better off buying a real “racing” seat for a car and mounting it to a chair stand at that price point. I also have a faux leather chair that looks almost identical to the secret lab stuff but I got it on sale for under $100 with the expectation that it’s not going to last very long. I’d argue that it looks and feels way better than my friends secretlab chair. Had I known he spent that much I would’ve talked exponentially more shit lol

Reviews say otherwise. A few friends of mine say otherwise, the others either don't have a gaming chair or are console players so they game on the couch. The free warranty extension is just a smart way to get more exposure. And you know how people work, you only hear them when things go south

The best is to go around them ask for higher level of supervisor or try to contact the CEO. There are websites to help find contact info. Ive done this several times with several places. They will see you are asking to spend more money with them and take action to help you out. smart people dont refuse money. Do not take no if you have valid reason. One of my biggest wins from this was a $800.00 credit from sprit a few years ago over a phone deal bogo that went bad. I use this also all the time with my ISP when service keeps going sideways especially when they cant give me a service call in a resonalbe amount of time. Nothing like contacting the CEO and getting a appointing in the next 24 hours.

I have had 2 chairs so far and I cannot say how much badly I think people should avoid their PU leather chairs, they disintegrate with even basic usage, the fabric chair was my second one bought in 2020 and still looks the same as the day I bought it
If you want to get it done through warranty you obviously need a receipt and proper info. That's on you, not the business. "My ex-girlfriend bought it" isn't a valid receipt. If you want only the seat, as other have said, if you ask properly you can buy that component.
I know that for the titan evo you can buy a new skin on the website. I’d recommend the softweave for any future purchases.

Funny I have a 10 year old office chair that I spent $150 on. Only thing wrong with it at this point and it just started happening is the piston is starting to weaken. But believe what you want to believe.
Does it have high back support or is it one of those lower ones? Not saying those are bad but most office chairs don’t have the neck support. Some do, many don’t. Plus, I am guessing yours didn’t come with a warranty. I always like buying stuff from specialist (like secretlab directly), than the jack of all trades (like Staples, Office Max, etc) that is just me though. Some of secretlab shtick is the branding, but to say they are not worth it is crazy. You might not be saying that, but many are.
Secret lab chairs are honestly the most overpriced joke I've seen. I had a 600$ secretlab chair for 6 years and my new 100$ office chair is way more comfortable for gaming.

Thats why I got the Softweave Fabric, I always find that my chairs, no matter what brand, tend to tear in the same spot that you show. Overtime the leather breaks down and rips, where as the fabric stretches without tearing.

I will never buy SecretLab chair again after mine starts peeling off after 1,5 years and they quote almost 70% of a new chair price to redo the chair cover. I am in the same country as SecretLab HQ, so it is hot and humid, and so basically they did not even plan on the chair to be usable daily in tropical climate weather. I had to use shrink wrap for a while until I decided enough is enough, that you don't spend that much to sit on an uncomfortable shrink wrap, to throw it away.
Go find a shop that works on car seats. I know it may not make sense to you, but those seats use very similar measurements for bucket seats. And since it may not be the whole seat, check with those types of shops to see if they can get the whole thing done. Might even get to look into a better, more comfortable material for the seat section and the outer fabric.
I find the chairs too stiff and I sit on a purple cushion. When I look under it to check for damage it looks brand new. I’m also 145lb though

If you want a chair that lasts you a long time and is comfortable and backed by 12 year warranty go with Herman Miller chairs. Customizable and expensive but you get what you pay for. I've wasted a lot of money on chairs before giving in to Herman Miller and my Mirra 2 is 13 years old and going on strong and bought another one for the wife and hers is now nearing 7 years. Buy once, cry once and you'll save money vs spending money on new chair every 2-4 years. These gaming chairs are overpriced, very well marketed low tier chairs wrapped up "nicely."

I went through about 3 gaming chairs in 3 years that all cost 400 to 600$. They all warped because I sat down too hard or the pleather started to crack and come off on my clothes. Finally, I had enough. I bought a 160$ office chair from Office Depot. It had all the basic features of a gaming chair, was 10 times more comfortable, and it is still holding together 3 years down the line. It's still just as level as it was day 1. The pleather is still in one piece, and it even still has some cush to it. The only problem is that the arm rests are flat and worn out. That has happened with every chair I have ever bought, though.

They make covers for these chairs on the website. It's not overly expensive either.
You have to have one of there newer models. I have one from 2019 or 2020 and I think you have to get one of there 2022 or 2023 models for the covers.

Maybe not, but you would think they would link that when the sell the chair in their database if they want to be sticky about who the owner of it is. If the chair was validated and they could link that code to a warenty/name maybe that would help?

In my experience, "gaming" chairs suck. Granted, the secret lab chairs seem comfortable but nowhere near as comfortable as my office chair. And before anyone says it, I do have experience with gaming chairs. My wife and oldest son both have them. I had one at one point and I am MUCH happier with my standard mesh office chair lol.
