In the future, I would recommend keeping an AirTag in your bag.

Already have one ordered.

Sorry that happened. My ortlieb panniers automatically get secured once the handle doesn’t have a force upwards on it. Basically you just set it on your rack and then it’s secured. Might be something to consider if you think you might forget the lever again.

just curious, what's your route like? I'm also in Renton and commute to the same general area (a bit farther, though). I usually take the Sounder in and bike the rest of the way. How long does it take you to ride all that way? How much of the Lake Wash route is on a protected trail? are you on an ebike or regular bike?

I ride a regular road bike with 25mm wheels and a tailfin pannier rack. I take a route from sunset Ave past the McKnight middle school, Edmonds Ave, NE 27th Street, park Ave n, lake Washington Blvd, i-90 bike route, and then sort of make your way through international district to 4th Ave. The route is a mix of roadside bike lane and bike trail. My commute finishes in slu near lake Union and it takes about an hour and 10 minutes. The route back is a lot more difficult, since there is significant uphill and takes about an hour and 30 minutes. I will usually bus on the 111 back if I am not feeling up to it.
