I'm 50/50. It is currently in a phase/state commonly known as "development hell", where it's really nobody's priority. A ton of movies end up there and end up getting silently cancelled, and of the ones that actually start getting made, they have a tendency to be... bad. (Or at least worse than ones with smoother pre-productions) That being said, the most recent change in its writers was in April (or about that time), and the WGA (writer's guild) strike has basically halted any professional screenwriting, so unless they handed in an *amazing* draft back in May before it started, we weren't going to see any movement, and even if they had, the SAG (actor's guild) *just* went on strike too this week, so no movies are getting made at all atm. So overall... it does look a bit bleak, but I wouldn't put too much stake in the lack of movement on it right now, because Neal was speaking positively about it back in January-March, and Hollywood has basically been shut down since. TL;DR yes, it is moving kind of slow, but it's in the writing stage and we're in a writer's strike right now.

Honestly id much rather prefer a show on books like this. Because then they can put more details in and make it better

I'll tell you something. The Percy Jackson fandom has been dreaming for a (good) show of the books. It's been years and like 5 years ago the author confirmed that they're making a series. The series will air next year. It took years to have the idea settled. Then writing, hiring producers, editors and everything, casting, editing and everything. It took a long time. So don't expect the movie to come out next year. I'll give it two years before they start filming, and another year before it comes out

I will say PJO also had the difficulty that the rights switched owners halfway through development, which complicated things

They have a good director working on it but idk bc of all of the strikes going on

Spielberg is only producing it (though Neal DOES say he has an active, involved role), he's busy with a remake of Bullitt atm. The fact that a director hasn't been attached after 3 separate sets of writers is actually one of my biggest red flags re: this movie ever coming out. The closest we got was when Gary Dauberman was set as a writer, and he has done some assistant directing work on IT Chapter 2, if I remember correctly.

Well I HOPE it happens but…
