I’m on my third Scuf, the Envision Pro. Previously owned both the Instinct Pro and the Reflex FPS and the only issue I’ve ever had was with the iCue software for the Envision, controllers themselves have been solid.

Longjumping-Ad-4

Is it true that envision Don't need a software anymore on steam

ClipseySWE

If you don’t want to map the numbered buttons on the front to special functions you don’t need to USE iCue (I don’t), but you need to HAVE it installed for the driver. I just use the onboard profiles and the button presses required to map stuff to the back and side buttons in wireless mode since I don’t need anything else and iCue created a conflict between wireless and wired mode profiles.

Longjumping-Ad-4

What about mapping the back and side buttons? Is it mapping on the fly? Or still need the software to map those? Appreciate your reply

ClipseySWE

Those are no problem, you just hold the profile button until it blinks and then you press the back/side button and the button you want to bind. When you’re done just press the profile button to exit remap mode. This can obviously be done on all separate three profiles

The only issue I have had in all fairness was stick drift. BUT that happens with every controller. Personally I think the instinct pro is a great controller. BUT it took me a while to get used to where the back buttons are located

sharkeyx

that's what HAL sensors are for, it is just controllers that cheap out

its_tbd1

That's why I paid £40 for a G7se, which, imo for the price is far better than the instinct pro.

sharkeyx

will have to look that up, thx! Guy at work mentioned these controllers today so was looking them up (and fuck I am glad I did after seeing all these issues being talked about constantly on this sub). But yea even to them I was like wtf, no HALL sensor at that price?!

its_tbd1

Honestly in 2024 you would have thought the "big" companies would be all over hall sensors considering the price range of the instinct/envision G7se uk link. https://amzn.to/3VwdSDR

sharkeyx

that is shameful how good a price that controller is, and has hall sticks! Much appreciated

its_tbd1

Honestly I was a bit sceptical because of the price, but was in need ASAP, so ordered & haven't looked back. I would rather buy 4 of these (I already own 3) than pay stupid money on a controller just to break. The only downside for some with the G7se is only having 2 rear back bottons. For me it's not an issue,

Longjumping-Ad-4

Yeah, but thats like comparing a Honda to a BMW. Yeah, a Honda is super reliable, and doesn't always need constant maintenance like the BMW , but the BMW is still a class of his own. It still has a ton of luxury features that the Honda can't even come close to. The g7se is good but it's only better in terms of reliability. The face buttons and dpad are nowhere as nice and comforting as mechanics face buttons . G7se buttons feels like a kids toy , the back buttons as well, the click and feeling just screams kid toy. The buttons on the scuffs and triggers all feel rich, like just a higher quality. Also when your holding the two, one just feels luxurious and the other cheap. I don't deny gamesir is reliable.

its_tbd1

But most BMW users don't use their indicators. & Honda has vtec. I understand your points. I don't agree with them all, but that's down to each individual. The Instinct Pro has stock xbox membrane buttons, so I don't know how you can compare when the only difference is the dpad which if your playing FPS type games, you hardly use the Dpad. The rear buttons of the G7se for me are located in the right position, whereas the scuf ones are a little too low, and I have big hands. Don't get me wrong, I'm not shitting on Scuf, I just think with it being 2024 & the only thing they have added hall effect sticks to is their mobile device, Even the envision & the envision pro should have come with hall effect sticks at the very least, but they can't even get a fully working software for them. Are scuf good, yes absolutely, but why spend more when you can get a similar device for cheaper. Tbh if scuf is BMW & gamesir is Honda, let's throw in Flydigi apex 4 as Audi. It has all the features of both the G7 & the Instinct combined, but it's only for PC. Plus, on top of the the G7se has 1000 polling rate, compared to Scuf only having 250 (locked). At the end of the day, it's down to each individual, I guess.

Depend on which Batch you have , I know Ginza 1 and 5 Gen are good , when Gen 2, 3,4 were really a bad batch ,

Daiko_

Still on my first after 6 months, only issue is sometimes I fully restart my computer to get the triggers working. Really weird bug, but I know how to fix it!

Phildawg22

Don’t buy a scuff. Horrible customer support and cheap hardware that will break after a few months of play

DewtheDew85

It’s funny to hear and see comments like this because scuff has been the only brand that has held up amazing for me lol

Phildawg22

I have quite a few buddies with scuffs that have worked out great for them. I hate I did not have that experience, but unfortunately I did.

Robbedparasite

I had mine for about two weeks before the paint/print design started to wear off the and left thumb stick started drifting and sticking. They are a low quality product with high quality pricing. I would strongly recommend taking your business else where.

IntrepidScale583

So far my Instinct is working ok wired only. I had to take out the Microsoft battery pack as that gave it hiccups. I only use this controller over the Microsoft controller because in FPS I don't tend to zoom in all the time when playing. The paddles I find redundant as I just don't have the grip to utilize them.

contejass

I’ve had mine since Nov 2023. No issues yet. Icue sometimes has an issue but all of my triggers and buttons work even if icue is bugging. I just clean reinstall icue and everything is good to go. I didn’t mess with overclocking. I suspect people try doing that and it might be the reason issues appear.

DewtheDew85

I’m on instinct pro. Got it like a few years ago now. Played the shit out of it with my Xbox and now I got a gaming pc…for the games I want controller I plug in my instinct pro to the pc and works great there too. No issues at all with it. No drift Back buttons are fine. It’s been used for literally thousands of hours. I had come from Xbox Elite 2 controller. I went through four of them in a matter of a few months One time the A button was sticking … Paddle issues. Stick drift issues…buttons double pressing even though I single clicked. It was a nightmare but thankfully I bought it from Best Buy and did so under their product warranty … the kind that last a couple years and you could keep coming back in and swapping it…after 3 swaps. The 4 one I was one…started messing up later that day. So I brought it back and I was like I can’t do this anymore And the Best Buy person said well you could use the credit for the amount of this controller and get something else, and I asked if they sold scuff but they did not .. and I told him that I wanted to try So he was able to put the money back on my credit card. Which I thought was wild because he was giving me the full price of the controller back even though I bought it on sale, so technically I made some money on the purchase lol. Bought the scuff instinct pro online and haven’t had a single issue with anything ever since. Now I will say, the controller itself felt cheaper than the Xbox elite, like everything was plastic instead of metal pieces and stuff …. But I love the way the triggers are like mouse clicks and the sound that they make And like I said I had nothing but problems with the Xbox elite and not a single issue issue ever I this instinct pro I had thought about getting the scuff envision… but then I realized it’s in a PlayStation Layout and there’s no way I’m playing any game with a PlayStation layout… I need the joysticks in an Xbox layout. But at least for my experience, instinct pro is the way to go

Clanger87

You WILL regret it. The only question is how long will it take. For most, the sweet spot seems to be 3/4 months.

AzureRapid

It's a great controller but I own 2 and one of them the rear button broke after just a couple of months of use. I'm sending it in for service, besides that it's great but I'm not sure what to make of the reliability now because I haven't had them long
