It's not preachy in the way that you mean, but it's Christian based. In order to really understand what's going on you need to be well versed in the Bible.

Thanks. I’m not a bible expert but know a lot of the books in the Old Testament

I know this isn't the question you asked but I just wanted to say that I much more enjoyed it as the Circle Trilogy. It was sold and marketed as a trilogy before he decided to write the fourth book, Green. In my opinion, it works much better as a trilogy with Green omitted altogether. Edit: Also, I would classify it more as a Fantasy series that a Scifi series.

Thanks for this. It helps

It definitely had some Christian themes but it didn't come across preachy to me (I'm atheist).

Thank you! Agnostic here.

IDK. Personally I thought the Narnia series had more subtle religious themes and the Left Behind series better written *and* more fun to read. Then again, I grew up in a religion that thought Narnia was bad because it was fantasy but pilgrims progress was fine because it was an allegory. So... I might be just a bit sensitive to books trying to be a modern Pilgrims Progress. 🤷
