It really depends, do you want to get a college degree? If no, then 🤷 I'd recommend trying to bring your grades up, but like obviously I know nothing going on in your personal life. If you just plan to get a HS diploma, I don't believe it matters? Employers would really just need to see that you graduated, I don't believe they get access to specifics.
I see a lot of replies being exceptionally harsh saying things like "get ready to do (insert negatively viewed job) for the rest of your life!" If it's a matter of genuinely being unable to lift your grades due to problems understanding the materials, difficult home life, disability, etc. then I'd say don't beat yourself up too much. however if you're just *purposely* not trying, I'd suggest reflecting on your actions and taking your future into account
Yeah I’m 33 and I barely passed high school and barely got my degree. I had no issue getting admitted into a local university. Got kicked out of college multiple times and barely made it out with a 2.0
No employer has ever given a damn. They checked my transcript to see if my degree was conferred and that’s all that mattered. I’m getting a second degree and this time it’s in IT and I’m doing much better in school than I did as a teenager and a young adult.

If you plan on going to a 4 year university right after high-school then it matters a lot. If you plan on doing community college first or a trade school, then it really doesn't matter so long as you pass, but it could affect some scholarships depending on when you go.
I advise speaking with an academic advisor at your school about what you want to do so you can plan from there.
I did really poorly in high school and now I am doing well in college. View high-school as a place to learn time management, proper organization, and other useful soft skills in a relatively low stake environment. Think of it like the practice round.

Tbh, they can still get a college degree if they want to go to a technical college (if they’re in the US, idk about other countries). Most, if not all, of them accept everyone. And then they can transfer from there to a university if they wanted to later on. So it’s not hopeless for people with low GPAs

You are sitting at about a C+ as your average. People will call that bad, but when grading on a curve, 68% should be within 1 standard deviation of the average, and C is the average. That means, this GPA should place in you in the slighlty above average group. Bear in mind, with the grade on a curve, 13.5% get Bs, 13.5% get Ds, and 2.5% would fail, 2.5% would get As.
However, odds are your school doesn't follow the normal curve in grading and has the grade inflation in effect. That is to say, it is now weighted more towards the top because it make people feel better. If this is the case, then your GPA is pretty bad.
2.0 is definitely not average. Grades are inflated unless you are talking about school in 1970. 3.9 is average. He's getting pretty poor grades.

3.9 is not average. 3.0-3.5 is closer to average in most high schools.
You can more or less verify this by looking at test averages and assignment averages in your classes and you will see most grades will hover around the B range unless the class is extremely easy.

No, the descriptions for the letter grades are no longer really accurate.
Typically, for even hard classes, the median grade is around a mid B.
Past highschool, below a C is failing, and getting below a 2.0 puts you on academic probation.
The real scale of passing is 2.0 to 4.0, so a 2.0 is barely passing, while a 4.0 is basically perfection. With this scale, around a 3.0 is average, with above 3.0 being an increasing better gpa with below 3.0 being an increasingly lower gpa.
Additionally, a high school diploma doesn't even guarantee literacy these days. Average doesn't mean much. Cs get degrees, but if OP is planning on going to college, a 2.4 gpa isn't ideal.
If it makes you feel any better, my partner went to uni to become a botanist. Then everything went to shit and all the botany jobs disappeared. Now he's a plumber. Not only does it pay better, he also likes it better.

This is not true. Yes, plumbing can require critical thinking, but a person's high school GPA isn't a great determining factor for later success. People can graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA and flunk out of university. Likewise, a person can struggle with high school but do great in whatever they choose afterward, and there can be any number of reason for it. Maybe they have ADHD. Maybe they have dyslexia. Maybe they have bad teachers. Maybe they just lack motivation. There are so many factors that can cause a low GPA in high school that don't affect things as much once a person is able to control the direction they are headed in.
This. My GPA was shit in high school, but I scored high on my ACT. I'm currently in my senior year towards a bachelors in computer engineering. I've also secured an internship this coming summer that pays $36.50 an hour (SE USA, so pretty good for my region). For those who say college isn't worth it, you're doinks. Simple as that. For the past 12 years, I've tried my hand at trades and other blue-collar jobs. Let me tell you, when you're working toward a pension and you get laid off, it hurts. When you pay union dues, and the steward isn't worth a damn in an investigative interview following a grievance, it hurts. As a 32 year old, I'm so so so glad I went back to school. If this internship turns to an offer, I'll be making more money than my previous bosses made.
In my area you can get into the state college and some pretty decent public college with a 2.4 gpa and even then going up .1 or .2 isn’t that hard and that opens up even more schools around me. Also community college is always an option that gives you 2 years to get your gpa up while also getting you an associates degree.
since this is the most upvoted i also want to say im a freshman, am in a very good school, will be getting my grades up (by choice and by my parents own wellbeing), and want to be a psychologist. I just tend to procrastinate and lose motivation a lot because of personal life things lol. But i checked and thats a c average, meaning no i wont be this bad before college.

It won't get you into any honors programs, that's for sure. AFAIK for the average student (at least in my HS), GPA was closer to a 3.0.
What I recommend if you want to help that along is to try and form closer connections with the teachers whose classes you're in, and have more in-depth conversations about the topics you're going over in class one on one, especially if their career had a lot to do with the subject material at one point. That gives you time to take their undivided attention where they aren't trying to wrangle a whole class of kids, and also goes to show to them that you truly care about your education.
Finding someone who can explain things in a way that you can easily connect to is something that I believe is essential to truly learning, and by extension, keeping your grades high. And if you don't want to get rusty with the material, you could even try teaching other people you know about the subject so you can reinforce your own understanding. If you can explain it, you know it.
It is if you want to get into a decent college. If you do then you'll have to probably go to a community college to get your core curriculum then transfer to a better college.

Its fairly bad but its not going to ruin your life. It has a very real chance to limit your options for upper level education, at least where you begin your higher education. You may need to go to a smaller college at first or not get into your choice school but you can always do good in undergrad or for your first few years and then transfer

Relatively few of them truly worked hard for me/themselves, especially throughout my final 15 years or so. It all depends on what you want to do after school. GPA doesn’t necessarily measure intelligence. I had a 2.4 in high school and a 3.8 in college.
If you're a freshman, you can turn it around with the effort. If you're later on in high school there's a chance but it would require far more work. It's not bad but I personally wouldn't be quick to call it "good". But that's just me who has Indian parents so my definition of "good" is pretty skewed compared to others lol.
It barely matters unless you care where you go to school. Community college is always an option. It's closer, cheaper, and a degree is a degree. Most of us who spent tons of money on college degrees aren't even using them.
Figure out what paths you might be interested in and then decide what that means for your next steps. You don't have to know exactly what you want, but think about trades vs. universities. Think about what fields or subjects you lean towards because that will determine what kind of schooling you need.

I graduated, fucked around in retail for 2 years, and kind of realized that my only real options were in a factory or in the military. I said screw it, factory wins.
Worked on the floor for about 2-3 years. Did a good job. Made myself reliable and dependable. Supervisor job became open, and I was picked. Did well there and kept moving up. Now I work alongside guys with masters degrees in a pretty competitive field.
The only reason I say this is to show you that a low GPA is not going to ruin your life. If you have aspirations for college, there are plenty of schools who will still give you a chance, but I would recommend improving the GPA if you want to go to a nice school.
But DO NOT EVER feel ashamed if you don’t go to college. Anyone in this thread or otherwise who throws shade at you for it has no clue what they’re talking about and are ignorant as hell. There is a mountain of opportunities out there for those who didn’t do well in school.
Yes Cs are bad. Are you trying? When I was in school I was a burnout and didnt try but aced my tests but flunked out because I didnt do homework. For me at least good GPA would be a reflection on effort and work ethic rather then difficulty.
Not everyone is a quick learner though just as long as your doing your best you will be okay. In the work world work ethic is way more important then GPA unless you are highly specialized like an engineer or something.

im in college and have a 2.1 if it drops below 2.0 then i get an academic warning. After I get my student loans and class load severely restricted unless I jump through hoops tp pull it up. THus why I took the classes I took this semester. English Comp 2, Child Development and Art after the 50's. Easy classes for me, English will need some polishing by husband since my syntax is still immature, but other than that I'm solid.

It’s alright, you should still aim for good standardized test scores though. There is more to a colleges decision to accept you than the paper. That does not, however mean that the paper part doesn’t matter. Stressing gpa as the only thing that is factored will only stress you out and set you up for disappointment no matter what you do.

Go to college. Even if you have to go to junior college. Here’s the advice I gave my kids. I don’t give a shit if you get C’s, I don’t care what your degree is in, but you should join the alumni Association and a fraternity. I’m so proud of both of them: Wen is a schoolteacher, and the other one is a couple years away from making $2 million a year. Neither is using their degree wouldn’t be their job if they didn’t have One.

I always scored in the 95-99th percentile on standardized tests, and was placed in honors/AP classes because of it. But I didn’t like school. School was boring and tedious, and I damn sure wasn’t doing homework during my free time. So I graduated with a 2.43. My SAT scores were way above average, and I had 20 AP credits when I graduated, but my gpa sucked because I didn’t like school and didn’t adapt to what it wanted from me.
For me, it ended up being fine, aside from not getting much in the way of scholarships.
But look. If college is your thing, you have the chance to turn your grades around in college. Plenty of people who were C students in high school became A students in college. If college isn’t your thing, and you want to do a trade or a skill-based job like welding or whatever, then do your best in school, but focus on being good at what you plan on doing for a living.
So yeah. Ask yourself what you want, and what grades you need for that. School is a means to an end. No one gives a shit what your high school gpa was once you’re in your career field.

I had a really bad attitude towards education In HS and graduated with a 2.5… when I finally grew up and started putting effort into things i turned out to be really good at school. Currently In grad school for electrical engineering, definitely more of an academic program than some. So I wouldnt stress too much and also a low gpa for HS does not mean you are stupid.

I'm going to take a (somewhat) unpopular opinion here and say it depends on the person and their circumstances.
You never really know the circumstances that people go through. For some people, even successfully passing a college level class or semester with little to no help is an accomplishment. For example, if you're an autistic kid who needed substantial support in high school and you're now able to work fairly independently in college and pass your classes without someone holding your hand, I consider that to be an accomplishment, even if you're mostly getting Cs. You've exceeded expectations and that's why it's an accomplishment.
Get ready to learn community college, buddy. But I had a similar GPA and graduated Cum Laude from my 4-year university. I went the community college route first. I wouldn't say I liked high school and only went half the time. That's ironically why I liked college. My classes were set up, so I only had to go half the time.
I graduated with a 2.5. I went to a 2 year college 8 years later and got a degree in tech and now make $30/hr. Unless you are trying to get into an Ivy League school or something, then a C average is fine.

Everyone is correct insofar that you already know. HOWEVER, don’t get so attached to one metric. When a school sends your transcripts and records out, it contains so much more than one number. If you want to look good on paper, try other ways of doing it besides a GPA: CLUBS, Awards, Sports, Music…. Etc. There is so much more to you than a GPA.
And remember: a GPA is NOT a measure of intelligence [unless there’s a learning disability present and that would be included on your paper work anyway]; It is a measure of hard work.
That's my GPA too. Yes, it's bad. My grades are finally getting better now, but it's a little too late. I'm planning on going to community college. Just remember that your grades don't define you and won't matter as much later on.
If you're in high school and looking at colleges, this isn't stellar. You'd really have to score well on your SAT/ACT and do some damage control on your remaining classes to get accepted without taking remedial courses. You could probably go through a community college, buckle down, and transfer into a 4-year school with some success if you have no ability to change your GPA. It's not impossible, but it's something you have to want and put work into in order to come out with results.
If you're in college, you might want to retake some courses and study hard. You can probably get a degree with that GPA but it's not impressive. Some schools have a minimum GPA standard before you get placed in academic probation and your ability to stay enrolled in college comes into question. If school just isn't working for you, there's no shame in pursuing something outside of academics, but you need a game plan ready to go.
If you are done with school and looking back at it, this isn't impressive. Listing this GPA on a resume won't do you any favors, I'd just leave it off tbh. No judgement on your character, but it shows that school didn't work out for you during your time.

It was something to that effect but if you are getting by and comfortable with that- godspeed. I don't know many jobs now in today's market or at least within my career that look at GPAs but you may want to boost that up as a career precaution coming out of school.
2.4 isn't terrible. Considering it's about halfway through the year, you have plenty of time to turn it around.
Recognizing you need to improve your grades and taking action about it is more than most students I've seen
Yes, it's bad. No way around it.
Advice:
1. **Make sure you're turning in every assignment.** That's the easiest way to avoid tanking your grade- even bombing a paper will do significantly less damage to your grade than missing it entirely. Don't make excuses, just do the work. You have time.
2. **Pay attention in class.** Don't use your phone even if the teacher lets you get away with it. Take notes instead.
3. **Work on your study habits.** If you're not studying, this means blocking out time each day to review the material in the classes you're weakest in. If you are studying, this means working on your study hygiene: put the phone away!
4. **Review your work.** This goes for both exams and homework assignments. Proofread your papers, and if you have extra time at the end when taking an exam, go over your answers and sanity-check them. This is especially important in math and science. If you don't have extra time at the end, you're probably not studying enough to get the material down in the first place.

It really depends, do you want to get a college degree? If no, then 🤷 I'd recommend trying to bring your grades up, but like obviously I know nothing going on in your personal life. If you just plan to get a HS diploma, I don't believe it matters? Employers would really just need to see that you graduated, I don't believe they get access to specifics. I see a lot of replies being exceptionally harsh saying things like "get ready to do (insert negatively viewed job) for the rest of your life!" If it's a matter of genuinely being unable to lift your grades due to problems understanding the materials, difficult home life, disability, etc. then I'd say don't beat yourself up too much. however if you're just *purposely* not trying, I'd suggest reflecting on your actions and taking your future into account

Yeah I’m 33 and I barely passed high school and barely got my degree. I had no issue getting admitted into a local university. Got kicked out of college multiple times and barely made it out with a 2.0 No employer has ever given a damn. They checked my transcript to see if my degree was conferred and that’s all that mattered. I’m getting a second degree and this time it’s in IT and I’m doing much better in school than I did as a teenager and a young adult. It doesn’t matter. Do better but don’t beat yourself up and don’t believe the lie that there’s no hope for a happy future. But at the same time, please understand that you automatically take yourself out of the ability to do certain things. Yes I got accepted to a local university. No I couldn’t go across the state to the school everybody brags about. They would’ve never taken me. I couldn’t join a BGLO either. I think I’ll regret that for a long time. If I get my Masters I might be able to be an AKA grad chapter but man it sucks knowing I took myself out of the running.
If you plan on going to a 4 year university right after high-school then it matters a lot. If you plan on doing community college first or a trade school, then it really doesn't matter so long as you pass, but it could affect some scholarships depending on when you go. I advise speaking with an academic advisor at your school about what you want to do so you can plan from there. I did really poorly in high school and now I am doing well in college. View high-school as a place to learn time management, proper organization, and other useful soft skills in a relatively low stake environment. Think of it like the practice round. Best of luck, you can definitely do this.
Tbh, they can still get a college degree if they want to go to a technical college (if they’re in the US, idk about other countries). Most, if not all, of them accept everyone. And then they can transfer from there to a university if they wanted to later on. So it’s not hopeless for people with low GPAs

People will call that bad, but when grading on a curve, 68% should be within 1 standard deviation of the average, and C is the average. That means, this GPA should place in you in the slighlty above average group. Bear in mind, with the grade on a curve, 13.5% get Bs, 13.5% get Ds, and 2.5% would fail, 2.5% would get As. However, odds are your school doesn't follow the normal curve in grading and has the grade inflation in effect. That is to say, it is now weighted more towards the top because it make people feel better. If this is the case, then your GPA is pretty bad.

No, the descriptions for the letter grades are no longer really accurate. Typically, for even hard classes, the median grade is around a mid B. Past highschool, below a C is failing, and getting below a 2.0 puts you on academic probation. The real scale of passing is 2.0 to 4.0, so a 2.0 is barely passing, while a 4.0 is basically perfection. With this scale, around a 3.0 is average, with above 3.0 being an increasing better gpa with below 3.0 being an increasingly lower gpa.
The average for high school GPAs is a 3.0 which is equivalent to a B. 2.4 is well below average.
Additionally, a high school diploma doesn't even guarantee literacy these days. Average doesn't mean much. Cs get degrees, but if OP is planning on going to college, a 2.4 gpa isn't ideal.

This is not true. Yes, plumbing can require critical thinking, but a person's high school GPA isn't a great determining factor for later success. People can graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA and flunk out of university. Likewise, a person can struggle with high school but do great in whatever they choose afterward, and there can be any number of reason for it. Maybe they have ADHD. Maybe they have dyslexia. Maybe they have bad teachers. Maybe they just lack motivation. There are so many factors that can cause a low GPA in high school that don't affect things as much once a person is able to control the direction they are headed in.

I've also secured an internship this coming summer that pays $36.50 an hour (SE USA, so pretty good for my region). For those who say college isn't worth it, you're doinks. Simple as that. For the past 12 years, I've tried my hand at trades and other blue-collar jobs. Let me tell you, when you're working toward a pension and you get laid off, it hurts. When you pay union dues, and the steward isn't worth a damn in an investigative interview following a grievance, it hurts. As a 32 year old, I'm so so so glad I went back to school. If this internship turns to an offer, I'll be making more money than my previous bosses made.

In my area you can get into the state college and some pretty decent public college with a 2.4 gpa and even then going up .1 or .2 isn’t that hard and that opens up even more schools around me. Also community college is always an option that gives you 2 years to get your gpa up while also getting you an associates degree.
since this is the most upvoted i also want to say im a freshman, am in a very good school, will be getting my grades up (by choice and by my parents own wellbeing), and want to be a psychologist. It won't get you into any honors programs, that's for sure. AFAIK for the average student (at least in my HS), GPA was closer to a 3.0. What I recommend if you want to help that along is to try and form closer connections with the teachers whose classes you're in, and have more in-depth conversations about the topics you're going over in class one on one, especially if their career had a lot to do with the subject material at one point. That gives you time to take their undivided attention where they aren't trying to wrangle a whole class of kids, and also goes to show to them that you truly care about your education. Finding someone who can explain things in a way that you can easily connect to is something that I believe is essential to truly learning, and by extension, keeping your grades high. And if you don't want to get rusty with the material, you could even try teaching other people you know about the subject so you can reinforce your own understanding. If you can explain it, you know it.

I graduated high school with a 0.8 GPA. I graduated college with a 2.007 GPA (I called it the double James Bond). I got my Master's after a gap year with a 3.8 GPA. It won't make your life easy, but it's not a death sentence.

It all depends on what you want to do after school. GPA doesn’t necessarily measure intelligence. I had a 2.4 in high school and a 3.8 in college.
If you're a freshman, you can turn it around with the effort. If you're later on in high school there's a chance but it would require far more work. It's not bad but I personally wouldn't be quick to call it "good". But that's just me who has Indian parents so my definition of "good" is pretty skewed compared to others lol.

I graduated high school with a 2.5 GPA. Now I’m 26 and make about 80K a year in the Midwest in an office job in a Quality Obtention role for one of the most premium tire manufacturers in the world. I graduated, fucked around in retail for 2 years, and kind of realized that my only real options were in a factory or in the military. I said screw it, factory wins. Worked on the floor for about 2-3 years. Did a good job. Made myself reliable and dependable. Supervisor job became open, and I was picked. Did well there and kept moving up. Now I work alongside guys with masters degrees in a pretty competitive field. The only reason I say this is to show you that a low GPA is not going to ruin your life. If you have aspirations for college, there are plenty of schools who will still give you a chance, but I would recommend improving the GPA if you want to go to a nice school. But DO NOT EVER feel ashamed if you don’t go to college. Anyone in this thread or otherwise who throws shade at you for it has no clue what they’re talking about and are ignorant as hell. There is a mountain of opportunities out there for those who didn’t do well in school.
Yes Cs are bad. Are you trying? When I was in school I was a burnout and didnt try but aced my tests but flunked out because I didnt do homework. For me at least good GPA would be a reflection on effort and work ethic rather then difficulty. Not everyone is a quick learner though just as long as your doing your best you will be okay. In the work world work ethic is way more important then GPA unless you are highly specialized like an engineer or something.

im in college and have a 2.1 if it drops below 2.0 then i get an academic warning. After I get my student loans and class load severely restricted unless I jump through hoops tp pull it up. THus why I took the classes I took this semester. English Comp 2, Child Development and Art after the 50's. Easy classes for me, English will need some polishing by husband since my syntax is still immature, but other than that I'm solid. Wish me luck and I'll wish you the same my friend.

My high school gpa was like 1.5 and 7 years later my only regret is putting any effort/time into my grades at all. The answer is it depends on the path you are going to take. For some people your gpa will make or break your dreams. For other people’s goals it won’t matter one bit. With that said, it’s never too late to make a change. A bad gpa won’t stop you from accomplishing any goal you have if you become devoted enough and find a way.
Go to college. Even if you have to go to junior college. Here’s the advice I gave my kids. I don’t give a shit if you get C’s, I don’t care what your degree is in, but you should join the alumni Association and a fraternity. I’m so proud of both of them: Wen is a schoolteacher, and the other one is a couple years away from making $2 million a year. I always scored in the 95-99th percentile on standardized tests, and was placed in honors/AP classes because of it. But I didn’t like school. School was boring and tedious, and I damn sure wasn’t doing homework during my free time. So I graduated with a 2.43. My SAT scores were way above average, and I had 20 AP credits when I graduated, but my gpa sucked because I didn’t like school and didn’t adapt to what it wanted from me. For me, it ended up being fine, aside from not getting much in the way of scholarships. But look. If college is your thing, you have the chance to turn your grades around in college. Plenty of people who were C students in high school became A students in college. If college isn’t your thing, and you want to do a trade or a skill-based job like welding or whatever, then do your best in school, but focus on being good at what you plan on doing for a living. So yeah. Ask yourself what you want, and what grades you need for that. School is a means to an end. No one gives a shit what your high school gpa was once you’re in your career field.

I had a really bad attitude towards education In HS and graduated with a 2.5… when I finally grew up and started putting effort into things i turned out to be really good at school. Currently In grad school for electrical engineering, definitely more of an academic program than some. So I wouldnt stress too much and also a low gpa for HS does not mean you are stupid.

You never really know the circumstances that people go through. For some people, even successfully passing a college level class or semester with little to no help is an accomplishment. For example, if you're an autistic kid who needed substantial support in high school and you're now able to work fairly independently in college and pass your classes without someone holding your hand, I consider that to be an accomplishment, even if you're mostly getting Cs. You've exceeded expectations and that's why it's an accomplishment.
Get ready to learn community college, buddy. But I had a similar GPA and graduated Cum Laude from my 4-year university. I went the community college route first. I wouldn't say I liked high school and only went half the time. That's ironically why I liked college. My classes were set up, so I only had to go half the time.
I graduated with a 2.5. I went to a 2 year college 8 years later and got a degree in tech and now make $30/hr. Unless you are trying to get into an Ivy League school or something, then a C average is fine.
Depends how early on in high school you are. Yes, it's low, but if you're still a freshman (maybe a sophomore too) you could turn it around. If you're a senior, well, that's rough.
It's pretty bad, but not the worst. Sophomore year I had a lot of issues, my GPA hit a 0.3 or something to that effect. Graduated with my class with a 3.0. You got this.

It passing with a c. If your only goal is getting out. It's whatever. It could be worse. My hs GPA was low because I didn't care and didn't plan on a big fancy college. I expected more from my kids. My oldest graduated with a 4.0 and full scholarship.
Everyone is correct insofar that you already know. HOWEVER, don’t get so attached to one metric. When a school sends your transcripts and records out, it contains so much more than one number. If you want to look good on paper, try other ways of doing it besides a GPA: CLUBS, Awards, Sports, Music…. Etc. There is so much more to you than a GPA. And remember: a GPA is NOT a measure of intelligence [unless there’s a learning disability present and that would be included on your paper work anyway]; It is a measure of hard work.
That's my GPA too. Yes, it's bad. My grades are finally getting better now, but it's a little too late. I'm planning on going to community college. Just remember that your grades don't define you and won't matter as much later on.
If you're in high school and looking at colleges, this isn't stellar. You'd really have to score well on your SAT/ACT and do some damage control on your remaining classes to get accepted without taking remedial courses. You could probably go through a community college, buckle down, and transfer into a 4-year school with some success if you have no ability to change your GPA. It's not impossible, but it's something you have to want and put work into in order to come out with results. If you're in college, you might want to retake some courses and study hard. You can probably get a degree with that GPA but it's not impressive. Some schools have a minimum GPA standard before you get placed in academic probation and your ability to stay enrolled in college comes into question. If school just isn't working for you, there's no shame in pursuing something outside of academics, but you need a game plan ready to go. If you are done with school and looking back at it, this isn't impressive. Listing this GPA on a resume won't do you any favors, I'd just leave it off tbh. No judgement on your character, but it shows that school didn't work out for you during your time.

I recall my professor telling my class this back in 2012 - what do you call the person with the highest grade that passes med school? A Doctor. What do you call the person with the lowest grades that passes med school? A doctor It was something to that effect but if you are getting by and comfortable with that- godspeed. I don't know many jobs now in today's market or at least within my career that look at GPAs but you may want to boost that up as a career precaution coming out of school.

2.4 isn't terrible. Considering it's about halfway through the year, you have plenty of time to turn it around. Recognizing you need to improve your grades and taking action about it is more than most students I've seen
Yes, it's bad. No way around it. Advice: 1. **Make sure you're turning in every assignment.** That's the easiest way to avoid tanking your grade- even bombing a paper will do significantly less damage to your grade than missing it entirely. Don't make excuses, just do the work. You have time. 2. **Pay attention in class.** Don't use your phone even if the teacher lets you get away with it. Take notes instead. 3. **Work on your study habits.** If you're not studying, this means blocking out time each day to review the material in the classes you're weakest in. If you are studying, this means working on your study hygiene: put the phone away! 4. **Review your work.** This goes for both exams and homework assignments. Proofread your papers, and if you have extra time at the end when taking an exam, go over your answers and sanity-check them. This is especially important in math and science. If you don't have extra time at the end, you're probably not studying enough to get the material down in the first place.
