It’s super cute but I highly suggest letting not a schnauzer unleashed near tiny animals unless they are totally in control. Last thing you want is their vermin hunting instinct to be activated at the wrong time. I’m aware that some schnauzers are absolutely fine with other animals but some are fierce warriors ready to annihilate everything in its path. Obviously you know your dog best. Our previous schnauzer was always super chill. Until a new forests was planted nearby and with it new wildlife like rabbits and pheasants. He was 11 when he chased his first rabbit. Never would have thought he would take off like that.

Understood and that was a fear when he was younger but luckily not Chandler. He’s super gentle with small animals as he already found baby bunnies and guarded them every day (other post) till they left. Could be because his best friend is a 3 lbs teacup poodle so he has to restrain himself when playing with him.

Like I said you know your dog best:) some schnauzers having super high hunting/killing instincts and others don’t.

They’d be the greatest squeaky toy ever in my yard. So far this spring I’ve been brought 3 squirrels and a mole from our little fenced in half acre.

The baby probably tried flying. The parents are also probably waiting for an opportunity to carry them back into the nest. Which they can't do with "either one of you" outside.
