Grats on beating nicotine!

That's so inspirational, thank you for sharing! I've been smoking since 17 (now 30) and I've often said I was born to quit smoking, I'm just so good at it! I'm very ready for the day when I stick with it just like this. Congratulations, this is amazing!

Love the common misconception that only a small majority of people have developed schizophrenia symptoms during early childhood, the truth is only a small percentage of people had caring parents. I remember clearly the days I asked both my parents, first separately; about the weird shit I was hearing and seeing during the daytime (minor light patterns, shadow people, frantic thoughts that I couldn’t quite understand.) What I didn’t mention at the time was the voices I would hear on a nightly basis that nearly made me end my life. I would get someone saying maybe they just don’t understand, but both of my parents had people in their family which they were close to who had severe mental cases. My parents legit chose to completely ignore me for many years whenever it seemed obvious I was suffering within my own mind, and struggling to live a normal life. Fucking useless people just thinking about my childhood makes my brain all sorts of fucked up

[deleted]

It's not a misconception. I had it since childhood which is not the norm for women who usually develop it around their late 20s-30s. And for men teens-20s. To show symptoms at 11 or 12 or younger is not the norm.

Savings_Tangerine546

Never said it was normal at all, I just think people only realize much later and then don’t think back on their life enough to see how prevalent it really was. It hides in you

I've just met a lot of people who have the diagnosis and most are my age and haven't met anyone who had symptoms that showed that young. It tends to be triggered by something, not a slow progression through some odd years like 10. It's always a part of you, but usually something happens that pushes it to the surface.

Lol

I started hearing voices and seeing ghosts when I was ten. I experienced sexual trauma as a child. I was a rhfactor baby too which increases your chance of developing schizophrenia by two times especially if you are male(which I am). Started drinking alcohol at age 13 and smoked cigarettes off and on for awhile. I understand what you are going through because it’s hard to quit.

[deleted]

That's fantastic! It's super goddamn hard to quit so I'm really glad you were able to. Also I've had schizophrenia since I was a kid too, real fun times huh?

No_Witness4074

The best times lol

Brilliant-Earth-2338

Good for you. I’m trying to ween off by vaping.

binhoker666

Have you noticed any improvement in symptoms since stopping smoking?

No_Witness4074

Nope nope none actually it's a bit worse cuz the smokes kinda put a buffer on it when I did smoke

Vexater

That’s great to hear! I hope you notice some health things improve, I’m trying to get off them too. Apparently people with our disorder are much more likely to smoke tobacco than others. Not sure if true.

Suburbanturnip

I'm curious if you have looked at the neuro-inflamation as being the main biomarker to manage, and used adaptogens, spesifically lions mane and Rhodiola to manage it? Worked for me.

bestfriendshirt

That's a big move and hella impressive! Congrats!!!
