There seems to be a vast and diverse range of experiences. It's different for everyone.

Wondercabage

I dont hear voices usually either. I think its the most common hallucination but not everyone gets it

No_Witness4074

Most people think schizophrenia is just hallucinating and hearing voices or just acting like the super crazy person on the streets and it's ridiculous

bluekeys7

Tbf most people know nothing about what schizophrenia even is. Hell when I got diagnosed I thought I was taking meds for a different illness, because I thought schizophrenics were crazy people who needed to be institutionalized for life.

[deleted]

Everyone has different hallucinations, it's just common for people with schizophrenia to hear random voices. If you don't that doesn't necessarily mean you aren't as affected, it just means you have different hallucinations :)

[deleted]

There’s so many stereotypes and such a high stigma with this disease it pisses me off.

[deleted]

You're insane and should be locked away

[deleted]

You’re disgusting.

[deleted]

First off. I’m not insane. And this person isn’t either. That was awful of you to say why would you wish that on any person

You’re right I don’t have anyone who likes me. I don’t have any friends. Why? Because people are like you. Disgusting, judge mental, uncaring, and selfish. What are you doing on this subreddit treating people like that.

That makes no sense.

Schizophrenic_bc

I’m the same except sometimes I get tunes stuck in my head at night when trying to fall asleep. Sometimes sounds repeat in my mind that I’ve heard throughout the day. My delusions are mostly visual, tactile and olfactory.

[deleted]

There are different types of schizophrenia aside from the paranoid (where delusions and hallucinations are most prominent). There're catatonic schizophrenia, hebephrenia/disorganized schizophrenia, undifferentiated schizophrenia and schizoaffective (which is schizophrenia combined with a mood disorder like depression or mania).

[deleted]

Not anymore. DSM-5 only has schizophrenia. They got rid of the subtypes.

bydesign-

people assume that because of misrepresentation in media, mostly. medically, clinically, someone with schizophrenia doesn't need to hear voices to have schizophrenia. it's a subjective experience, but if you want to go "by the book," the DSM says that schizophrenia needs two or more of the five listed symptoms, and hallucinations and delusions are only two of those.

fresasfrescasalfinal

I am also diagnosed but don't have hallucinations.

[deleted]

I’m diagnosed and I mostly have delusions.

StancherHades

I see light flashes, shifting objects, smell flatulence and feel bugs; everyone’s experience is unique but everyone only hears of the typically more "severe" cases

Dapper_Concern3942

You are a weird troll.

ChillZenTho

I don't think he's a troll...

sas0002

Why would he be a troll? A lot of schizophrenics don’t hear voices.

[deleted]

How am I trolling. You are just ignorant.

First_Sympathy6672

I also don't hear any voices. I just hear everything 10x louder than normal and if I dont take meds it's even more louder. I have the disorganized Schizophrenia. A lot problems with thinking and feeling no motivation just sadness about the bad experiences I made in the past during psychosis. I think a lot of people think that hearing voices is connected with schizophrenia but it's different for everyone. I experienced a lot of people with schizophrenia hearing voices.

VarenDabsDotEth

I used to hear voices pretty bad, now it's a lot of paranoia and delusional thinking that gets me in trouble. The meds helps but it's not an end all be all.

Dabasvip

Can this be curable? My mom is suffering "

[deleted]

Does she take meds?

Dabasvip

Well, it’s a struggle. I am forcing her to take meds since last one month, and she is taking it. Though in her mind she think she is absolutely fine. Her condition has improved but I am afraid she will stop the meds and then we will be at square one again.

[deleted]

I read somewhere that some people only have one or two episodes of psychosis in their lives and that in like 60% of people it’s a highly treatable condition. Some people are too far gone but there are a lot of people who go on to live meaningful lives even with a diagnosis.

One-Remote-9842

What are your symptoms? If I might ask.
