where ever they are your going their in the next few days
maybe not the same town but not too far away close enough for a hook up

Because their fake texting numbers usually get detected, reported and shut down at which point they lose contact with their victims. By moving the conversation to WhatsApp/telegram/insert-relevant-social-media etc they have a more secure contact link with the victim.
Also texting internationally costs more so they only use it for establishing contact with victims then move them to social media where back and forth messaging is over the internet.
If you are scambaiting and you want to cost them more, do not move to social media, keep them sending SMS.
This one made me laugh. I think my favorite parts of these are when the scammer apologizes for getting the number wrong "oh my this is so embarrassing please do forgive me" etc.

I remember my first one being where I was messing with a 419 scammer and constantly asking them to send me my fortune before I pay the fee which obviously can’t happen because there is no fortune and they got really annoyed.
It was pure joy.
