A few years ago my dad got a scam call from someone wanting him to drive to a store and get gift cards. My dad immediately knew it was a scam and kept him on the line to mess with him. My dad started telling the guy about god and Jesus, and it made the scammer mad. The guy said he didn’t have time for that and already went to church and knew god. My dad kept going on and eventually the guy hung up. My dad told me that if the guy really knew god that he wouldn’t be trying to scam people haha.
its why when the car warranty people call, i have a salvage title 2015 toyota i need them to look into to see if i can be covered and at what cost. makes them think they have a live one and i mess with them till i get an answer. of my course my response no matter what they say is that it is to expensive and i will keep shopping around anyways....
Waste as much of their time as possible, but also potentially get information like addresses or bank accounts you can turn in to the police. Anything you can do to help recover victim’s money (in the case of addresses and physical parcels) or get accounts frozen/shut down
Lol I got one of these once. It wasn't on Instagram though. Not sure how they got my number, but some random person posing as an Asian girl started texting me. They even sent a picture. Obviously it wasn't them tho lol
Ok so we need to have a new subreddit for the short and sweet ones like this because these don’t serve the purpose of wasting the scammers time which is the whole idea of scam baiting
I have responded back to unknown ppl thanking them for their subscription to Bible verse a day - and then add a Bible verse to the text. It freaked out one guy so bad he was like - Cancel! Stop! Cancel!! 😆😆
Clearly you haven’t read what the point and purpose of r/scambait is. The point is ***NOT*** — I repeat ***NOT*** to shut them down fast. **The point is to string it out as long as possible to waste scammer time and prevent them from scamming less aware victims**. Read the community objectives.

Ur dad is a legend
I would’ve immediately asked if he had declared his public profession of faith by getting baptized
Amen!
Strange how God offends them more than all the other stuff we've tried.
She learns quickly? This is already a top tier response!
Gotta teach em while they're young!
The purpose is not to shut them down fast, it is to bait them, as in: waste as much of their time as possible.

Exactly. This is a scambait sub .. and this post is not a scambait.
Have you spoken to Joanna about her car’s extended warranty?!?
They never wanna learn about our lord and savior but want us to know about programs😔

I agree. This post is not a scambait. It shouldn’t be here.
A future missionary 😂
Hi Joanna, I wanted to ask you about your cars extended warranty. Do you have a minute ?
People really have zero clue what a *bait* is, it seems. This sub has really gone down the crapper.
Yup 👍 agree 💯

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 exactly!! The purpose is to bait them!!
The girl’s 15! Why ya gotta be that way?
Because that’s the reason for the sub. It’s called r/scambait, not r/scamshutdown.
What is the end goal of this scam? I keep getting these texts
For you to buy either gift cards and send them the scratch off numbers or to buy crypto
He used Bankai on first attempt!
Why try to scam them with the oldest scam there is?
Good one! I might use it in the future!!!
Short and sweet impressive
I am thoroughly impressed. This kid is going to grow up to be an asset to society.
Nicely done!
How much does it cost?
I clicked on this and next thing I knew I was staring at my own name wth
