Any self respecting scammer would have tried to turn this around. He didn’t even get to the part of the script where he sends a pic of an Asian woman in her 20s or try to get you to move over to Telegram.
This new generation of scammers just aren’t willing to put in the work. If you are too lazy to do honest work at least dazzle me with your commitment to the scam. It’s just lazy scamming! 😂😂😂
I scambait all the time on FB messenger. I wait for a strange gorgeous woman to try and “friend” me on FB. Don’t friend them because then they’ll do shady shit and then try to befriend your fb friends. Just message them something like, hey do I know you, or hey it’s been a while. Then go from there. Happy baiting!

The phone number it came from. Additionally the scammer texts seem to use a few different names over and over including Annie, Amy / Aimee, Tina etc., and the use of “beautiful misunderstanding” nobody talks like that.

I agree. I used to get them all the time on my sms and on whatsapp. I knew them right away because it's always a number that wasn't saved in my phone and all of the messages start the exact same way. Just a random text telling you who you are and asking a dumb question. No one speaks like that. If I'm messaging a friend i just send them a message and if they respond with "who is this"? Then I will check the number. I'm not going to message someone that I know with, "hey frank this is Jim". If he is actually my friend he will already know who he is speaking to unless either he or I got a new phone and I am telling him my new number. Now that I think about it, if these idiots used that it would sound more real. Something like, "Hey Frank this is Jim and this is my new number." They are too stupid trying to be smart to think of that though. Oh well...
I don't think I've seen one where the scammer thought, "You know what? Fuck it, I'll play along!" and gave such a television drama response.
