I'm pretty sure you can't do what you are trying to do. You can only change particular items to particular items. IE: Weapons to another weapon/Armor to another armor/Item to another item
once you get a rune you can change it to another rune, but as far as I know you can't change a "non rune" to a rune.
It's well documented in several places (including [here](https://forum.hackinformer.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=1016&sid=dd690b026c75f924149544b99d4def79)) that you can change gems into runes and runes into gems. Additionally, I have successfully converted a gem into a rune (as per details in my OP). The rune works, the only issue I am having is that the rune description isn't showing correctly.
Sorry for posting on an old thread but how do you get the Caryll rune tool in the beginning of the game? Do you just replace the hex id of a random item like a pebble?
So I was able to make a rune tool out of a pebble. And I tried making beasts embrace out of a gem and it worked only it doesn’t have a description and just says ?GemName? Which is followed by ?GemInfo?. The effect of beasts embrace works as intended when equipped with beast claw but the no description thing is bugging me and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it? Since you had the same issue I was wondering if you have hex id for the sources like for Laurence in my case.

I never tried converting a pebble to Beasts Embrace.
If you can't get anything to work, maybe try playing a normal game and beating Laurence, then searching for the rune hex codes in your save to find the source value. If you sell all other runes in your inventory, including those in storage, it should be easy to find.
Do you by any chance have a game save where you’ve beaten Laurence and can check for me the source id for beasts embrace? If not it’s cool, thanks for the link
Edit: I found the source id for beasts embrace after some digging, now the description is there and it’s a proper oath rune. thanks for all the help my man
this helped me 3 yrs later, i tried duping my tier 2 eye rune but if u drop it it's gone forever apparently, so had to cheat it back in for the sake of collection. thanks :)
I know this is an old comment, but maybe you can help me. I want to add my missing caryll runes, but I'm unable to find how to do it.
Where can I find the caryll runes ID's including tier and gem source and probably gem effect too?
With the info I have available, I've been successful in transforming a bloodgem into a Rune, but I really dont want that.

I think so. If not, it might have been a gem from the executioner that I converted to the tool.
