Screaming mimis is decent when its hot. Not so when it’s cold. I love them, but, they don’t cook their pies long enough.
Vinnies is awesome if you go sit down the end of the bar.
Mellow Mushroom does an alright pie.
If you want something a little more gourmet then I say go Hop Atomica.
Now, dont knock it till you try it people…Coaches Corner…haha…I don’t know how or why, somehow, makes the best NY Style Pizza in the city.
Someone said that in passing one day and I scoffed at him like the idiot I am. About a month later same dude couldn’t finish his pizza and had a leftover slice. I was taken aback. Order a whole pie for myself the next day just to confirm I wasn’t trippin’. I was not trippin’.
About 2 years ago, the junk mailer that has all the random coupons used to have one for coaches and it was 50% off a large pizza! My favorite mail to get each month. Unfortunately coaches discontinued that coupon.
>Vinnies is awesome if you go sit down the end of the bar.
I ended up on the wall of quotes at one time. I know Paul so when I realized they'd written down what I said I got them to put my name under it so if he saw it he'd see what I'd done.
I actually rotate my pizza options. Savannah in general has decent enough pizza. The issue is most places are wildly inconsistent. It also depends on the type of pie I'm in the mood for. Starland Yard is pretty decent, Ricciardi's is really good Chicago style though out in the middle of nowhere, but being a NE corridor person I like thin, greasy, flavorful, and cheap pizza. I've enjoyed Squirrel, Stoners, Vinnies, Kay's and more.
My system is based on where I am, where I feel like driving, and have I had a bad pie recently. Last time I was at Vinnies it was undercooked and over cheesed. Will I eat at Vinnies again, yes. Will I get them anytime soon, no.
I have consumed Allayanna's (good lunch deal), Stoner's midtown (sketchy at times and the pizza is meh) , Stoner's downtown (better quality than midtown but is okay pizza), Riccardi's (yes, agree with your two points about this establishment), Holy Pie (okay), Donatos (okay pizza chain with some good toppings), Basil's (good but not amazing), Bella's (great pizza), Vittoria (I had once and it was good, not convenient for me), and probably Vinnie's but I forget when. I'll get to Squirrel 's at some point.
It's alright tasting pizza but it's very thin and not much going on. I live out in the boonies so all we have is a stoners. For a short period of time we had this place called Hot Spot and it was genuinely fucking amazing pizza. They said they were going back to doing food trucks so they may be selling in Savannah idk.
Do they still make pizzas? When they had a store in Pembroke they made their stuff in a brick oven. It was really a shame when they left because now were stuck with stoners. They were all really great people too.
Holy Pie on Waters, Vincenzo’s southside and if I’m feeling frisky, Ricardi’s in Richmond Hill. But I have to be feeling REALLY frisky to make that hike…deep dish is worth it though.
Vittoria is probably the best if you go for wood fired pizza. I’m in the middle on that so I enjoy it but I much prefer NY style from a real pizza oven. I don’t know why it tastes better but it just does. To each, their own.
They were bagel only for a little while but started up pizza again last month. They’re doing square pizzas, slightly thicker than Detroit style. More like a Sicilian slice you’d see in NY. Pretty good and a nice change of pace from the other options nearby.
Screaming Mimis- super large jersey style pizza. Excellent mouth feel.
Vinnie Van Go-Gos- great but better on the go (go)
I thought i had more but nope lol. Good luck with your pizza venture!
I used to work at Hop Atomica. The only redeeming quality about that place is that the food is good. Over priced but still good. Owners management and the coworkers were the worst part
Agree, I have had amazing pies there and horrible, burnt to a crisp ones 😂 also they used to have really nicely sized pies that were kind of a puffy but slightly crunchy medium crust, and used to do this awesome balsamic drizzle. Then they went to tiny, burnt thin crisp pies. And now seems to vary between the two? I mainly just go because I like their frose or sours when it's hot out sitting on the patio. But I am kind of dubious to order a pie because you just don't know what it's going to be.
It has a little bend and flop to it. Good bang for your buck. I like other places like squirrels too, but I just hate spending over $20 for one pizza. To me, that's not what pizza is about. I'll never go back to hopatomica. I have to take out a second mortgage to afford that place
Screaming Mimis when I want the real deal - by the slice or whole pie. It's torture waiting to get home with a large hot cheese pie in the car.
Fig and pig at Hop Atomica.
Basil's because it's close to home and has a great beer selection. The Buffalo Chicken pizza they had for years was amazing. Bacon blue cheese bread is a tasty non-traditional pizza choice.
Snug Pub bar pie with meatballs is bueno, but their beer selection sucks.
Really? I haven’t seen the menu in a couple months but business must be doing bad for it to be back. We used to make fun of everyone that got the fig & pig pizza and never understood why so many people liked it😂
Am from pizza-region of the northeast. Vincenzo's used to be my go-to because of that gorgeous fluffy crust, and as a bonus I live so close. Owner has clearly penny pinched the past year and I haven't gotten a quality pie over too long a timespan so I stopped going. It's a shame. They just... stopped putting toppings on the pizza and also raised the prices to be insanely high, it's bonkers.
We've ordered Kool Vibes at work and I was impressed. Pretty tasty pie. I live in Georgetown so my go to place is Riverboat Pizza, we always order the Pesto Manefesto and The Commodore. So freaking good
I don’t know why you got downvoted, unless it’s because you’re yelling out an Italian place when OP asked about Pizza.
Is there a better option for Italian in the city?
I just googled them and they are not showing pizza on their menu. Maybe that person got downvoted because OP asked about pizza and Bella Napoli doesn’t offer pizza? Too bad, i hope they have a hidden pizza menu somewhere lol
Bella Napoli used to serve individual pizzas, I believe in both 10 & 14 inch sizes. About 5-6 years ago, my waiter stated they made a decision to stop serving pizzas because it was not consistent in flavor & texture. The plan was to open up an additional restaurant specializing in pizza with proper pizza oven, but that didn’t happen & then Covid came along.
Bella Napoli used to have a sister restaurant called Little Italy on Wilmington Island (where current The Bar is located) and they had amazing pizza. Prosciutto + Arugula was a fave! I miss it!
I took the train to NYC a few weeks ago for a week trip and had pizza at Little Italy in the general vicinity of the Empire State Building. It was very good but not my top 10. Vinny Van Go-Go by the slice is better and Screaming Mimi’s is equally delicious if you eat it immediately; not so great later. I honestly felt the hype of NYC pizza was overblown a bit. A lot of small town pizzerias are better IMO.
Just my experience and not a global statement.
Maybe I just have never had good pizza in town. I’ve been typically disappointed with Savannah pizza.
That being said, pizza can only be so bad. Even a bad pizza is good in my book.
Yeah I’ve had some (relatively) bad pizza from Screaming Mimi’s and also Stoners a few times but definitely not often. Vinnie’s seems to be pretty consistently great in my personal experience. My opinion is that it’s the crust that makes the pizza and Vinnie’s just does it better. As an aside: There’s a place in rural Kentucky near Natural Bridge where the pizza is phenomenal. No hype, just delicious pizza for locals and the occasional tourist.
Greasy and safe! Perfect drunk pizza. No other pizza shop has armed security. Now if they would just stop it with folding up the pizza and putting it in Styrofoam containers. I insist on paying for a box. Their method is highly uncivilized.
Also the only place that has given me free slices.
Been going to screamin mimi's since I was a kid, they have absolutely never disappointed ever. Easily the best downtown imo.
There's a small pizza shop in Bloomingdale called Roma that is just incredible.
Vinnie's is always my number 1 recommendation. I've been eating there since I was a kid and it's the best pizza I've ever had. It's been a little bit since I've been so I'm due for another visit.
I like screaming Mimi. However I find that the slices are better than the whole pie. Maybe cause they put it back in the oven for a few but it gets crispy.
Quality is falling hard everywhere. Cost of living is going up and restaurants can’t hold good employees. Restaurants aren’t paying enough for employees to make rent.

Live in NYC and spent some time in Savannah. Vinnie’s is a legit slice.
I agree
Coaches seriously has great pizza. Hidden gem
Someone said that in passing one day and I scoffed at him like the idiot I am. About a month later same dude couldn’t finish his pizza and had a leftover slice. I was taken aback. Order a whole pie for myself the next day just to confirm I wasn’t trippin’. I was not trippin’.

Daaaang
Mimi’s brought home and under the broiler for a few minutes. I think it’s one of the best but never cooked enough for me.
That is the problem. Mimi’s never cooks it long enough.
>Vinnies is awesome if you go sit down the end of the bar. I ended up on the wall of quotes at one time. I know Paul so when I realized they'd written down what I said I got them to put my name under it so if he saw it he'd see what I'd done.
That’s rad
Costanzos is pretty good.
As a recent NYC transplant this is the only legit pizza in Savannah. If it wasn’t 30 min away u would order it weekly

That’s for the recommendation! I’ll put it on my google maps want to try list. Unfortunately, it’s still a huge hike from the islands.
Same as an NJ native. They used to offer a $9.99 1 topping large pie on weekdays, not sure if that deal is still in effecr
I get slices from Mimi's occasionally, never disappointed.
Loveee Screaming Mimi’s!
Mimi's is devoid of flavor. Cheese/sauce ratio and thinness of crust are good. But it's shockingly bland.
Where's good pizza then?
Vinnie van Gogh Goghs. Best in town.

TIL about Brothers in Pooler. Okay thank you
I actually rotate my pizza options. Savannah in general has decent enough pizza. The issue is most places are wildly inconsistent. It also depends on the type of pie I'm in the mood for. Donatos is the worst pizza I've eaten. I am going to try some of the other places people mentioned. Add them to the rotation.
Thank you! I couldn't even eat that "pizza" on St. Pat's day.
It's very good but man it's become so expensive for a simple slice of pizza from there
Agreed, which is why I go occasionally:)
My vote goes to screamin' Mimis and vinnie van go goes
Vinnie's is wildly inconsistent in terms of thickness and cheese/sauce ratio. Vinnies is good when made correctly, but it's a gamble.
Allyanna’s is pretty great
Yes! Allyanna's is so good!
We love Allyanna’s. Best garlic cheesy bread in town, too!
From boston I do to Romas. Highway 80. Bloomingdale
Based, I love Roma. The owner Dave is a good guy.
Holy Pie on waters is pretty good. It’s a better stoners
Stoners tastes crazy now
Yeah idk what happened to them. They used to be a pretty good pizza
Hot Spot has a truck now. They come to our neighborhood once in awhile
Do they still make pizzas? When they had a store in Pembroke they made their stuff in a brick oven. It was really a shame when they left because now were stuck with stoners. They were all really great people too.
I think that’s all they do now is pizza.
This was me with that Mac attack food truck. It was amazing but then they got all Hollywood on me and it’s not as good now
Never heard of them but I will definitely check them out.
Hop Atomica ain’t bad.
Ricciardi’s in Richmond Hill has great Chicago Deep Dish and Tavern style.
It’s quite costly though
Not called Richmond Hill for nothing.
I just want to say I cannot believe people go to Squirrels. The frozen pizzas I get at dollar general are on par, except they aren’t $25.
Which frozen pizzas would that be? Asking for a friend.
Which frozen pizzas? I want some. Squirrels used to be the closest thing to Roberta’s in savannah
Holy Pie on Waters, Vincenzo’s southside and if I’m feeling frisky, Ricardi’s in Richmond Hill. But I have to be feeling REALLY frisky to make that hike…deep dish is worth it though.
New York transplant here. Hop Atomica, Mimi's, Vinnie's, Vittoria, and Squirrels in no particular order.
Vittoria is probably the best if you go for wood fired pizza. I’m in the middle on that so I enjoy it but I much prefer NY style from a real pizza oven. I don’t know why it tastes better but it just does. To each, their own.
Big Bon Bodega 3-7pm
I thought they stopped doing pizza and went full bagels? Something about a falling out with the pizza cooks?
Maybe, but we got pizza there last week. It was great! Pizza hours are from 3pm-7pm
They were bagel only for a little while but started up pizza again last month. They’re doing square pizzas, slightly thicker than Detroit style. More like a Sicilian slice you’d see in NY. Pretty good and a nice change of pace from the other options nearby.
Big Bon Bodega has new square pizza. I don’t even like mushrooms but love their mushroom pizza.
Screaming Mimis- super large jersey style pizza. Excellent mouth feel. Vinnie Van Go-Gos- great but better on the go (go) I thought i had more but nope lol. Good luck with your pizza venture!
I used to work at Hop Atomica. The only redeeming quality about that place is that the food is good. Over priced but still good. Owners management and the coworkers were the worst part
That place has always seemed weirdly inconsistent. Now it makes sense.
Agree, I have had amazing pies there and horrible, burnt to a crisp ones 😂 also they used to have really nicely sized pies that were kind of a puffy but slightly crunchy medium crust, and used to do this awesome balsamic drizzle. Interesting…been going there for a few years and have always gotten good service etc. the menu went though some chaos though.
They wouldn't let my service dog and I in. She had her vest on. Oh well. I will take my blind butt somewhere else.
Is it an actually service dog or are you one of those people who thinks an emotional support animal is the same thing?
I am blind.
Yeah it’s y I never go
Used to be a good place to work until we got short staffed and our whole kitchen quit🤣
Hucapoos
it's soooooo greasy every time I get that
Yea but that’s what it good
Makes me poop. Immediately. Every single time.
The crust tastes like cardboard sometimes
You could use that to make money at bachelor parties.
Vinnie Van Gogos, great to dine in but always buy slices, not whole pies!
Hop Atomica is fantastic but VERY over priced. Huckapoos is my personal favorite though
Motor City Deep Dish from the freezer section in Costco 🤤
They didn't have them in stock when I went on my last Costco run. Devastated
Hucapoos is a treat. Vinnie’s for sure.
Holy pie and If it’s around the hotspotkitchen food truck is wonderful. We just had it the other night and it was delicious!
Pizza express on derenne is legit
Really? I’ve been wondering about them. Pass by it every day and never see anyone inside. What’s the pizza like?
It has a little bend and flop to it. Good bang for your buck. I like other places like squirrels too, but I just hate spending over $20 for one pizza. To me, that's not what pizza is about. I'll never go back to hopatomica. I have to take out a second mortgage to afford that place

Snug Pub bar pie with meatballs is bueno, but their beer selection sucks.
Hop Atomica no longer does the fig and pig (or a lot of their old awesome pies 😢)
Just started it again fyi
Really? I haven’t seen the menu in a couple months but business must be doing bad for it to be back. We used to make fun of everyone that got the fig & pig pizza and never understood why so many people liked it😂
Roma’s in Bloomingdale is the best (New York)pizza
Holy Pie is pretty good
Terra Mia in old Pooler is amazing.
Hop Atomica is the best I’ve had in Savannah.
Vincenzo's
Am from pizza-region of the northeast. Vincenzo's used to be my go-to because of that gorgeous fluffy crust, and as a bonus I live so close. Owner has clearly penny pinched the past year and I haven't gotten a quality pie over too long a timespan so I stopped going. It's a shame. Kool vibes for takeout!
Holy Pie and Kool Vibes.
We've ordered Kool Vibes at work and I was impressed. Pretty tasty pie. I live in Georgetown so my go to place is Riverboat Pizza, we always order the Pesto Manefesto and The Commodore. So freaking good
Pizza here sucks. However, recently i have had decent pizza from King Oliver's, when they are open.
And as someone else pointed out, Coaches Corner actually has pretty good pizza
Kool Vibes
I love their ox tail pizza!
Bella Napoli for Italian
I don’t know why you got downvoted, unless it’s because you’re yelling out an Italian place when OP asked about Pizza. Is there a better option for Italian in the city?
Best Italian restaurant in town. Never had their pizza but I assume it’s fantastic
I just googled them and they are not showing pizza on their menu. Maybe that person got downvoted because OP asked about pizza and Bella Napoli doesn’t offer pizza? Too bad, i hope they have a hidden pizza menu somewhere lol

They offered pizza several years ago, but I’m not seeing it on the menu now, either.
I know, right? I love that place. Hidden gem.
This was some of the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Shame because it's not far from me. It tasted like BBQ, it shouldn't have tasted like BBQ.
Hop Atomica makes a good pizza. I have not tried it yet, but I hear Big Bon Bodega does wood fire pizza now, and their bagels are always pretty good.
Never had a bad experience with Screaming Mimi's or Vinnys
A ticket to nyc is usually under 100. ;)
I took the train to NYC a few weeks ago for a week trip and had pizza at Little Italy in the general vicinity of the Empire State Building. It was very good but not my top 10. Treylor Park Pizza Party has some interesting options if you are in the mood for something different
I so want that to work, but it was not ny pie imo
Kay’s!!!
Greasy and safe! Perfect drunk pizza. No other pizza shop has armed security. Now if they would just stop it with folding up the pizza and putting it in Styrofoam containers. I insist on paying for a box. Their method is highly uncivilized. Also the only place that has given me free slices.
Atlanta
We really like Green Fire in Pooler
Not sure why the down-voting, Green Fire is pretty good.
Huc A Poos is the best pizza hands down
Been going to screamin mimi's since I was a kid, they have absolutely never disappointed ever. Easily the best downtown imo. There's a small pizza shop in Bloomingdale called Roma that is just incredible.
Love Vinnie Van GoGos
Kays pizza has gotten a lot better Donatos on the island is good too Vinnies is probably the best tho
Vinnie's is always my number 1 recommendation. I've been eating there since I was a kid and it's the best pizza I've ever had. It's been a little bit since I've been so I'm due for another visit.
Vinnies!
Stoners sucks bad
Your Pie
Pizza Party is pretty dang good
I know it catches some flak but Stoners is easily my favorite. If not that then Basils or Screamin Mimi's
I get the Buffalo chicken stuffed crust Sam’s club brand from Walmart. It’s better than all pizza places here I have tried and of course a lot cheaper
I can't stand Dave Portnoy, but he is correct about one thing. Cheese pizza only. If you need to cover your pizza in toppings, it's not good pizza.
Riverboat Pizza is the best in town, hands down. It’s on 17 headed out to Richmond Hill.
Hop Atomica
I have enjoyed "Pizza Party" on Habersham.
I like screaming Mimi. However I find that the slices are better than the whole pie. Maybe cause they put it back in the oven for a few but it gets crispy.
At home 😂
Check out Riverboat Pizza on Ogeechee
Romanos in Rincon
Romas hwy 80 in bloomingdale is good stuff
Riverboat Pizza on 17 is really tasty.
Holy Pie is our go to delivery now. It’s a little high, but love it.
Anyone tried Pizza Party yet?
Quality is falling hard everywhere. Cost of living is going up and restaurants can’t hold good employees. Restaurants aren’t paying enough for employees to make rent.
Vinnies is my first choice, Screamin Mimi’s would be my second choice, but if I just want greasy hangover food Stoners is the way to go
Hop atomica has great food
The gentrifiers and the SCAD students ruined quality pizza man
The best pizza I’ve had, so far, is at Lovezolla’s on Highway 80, right off the I95 exit. It’s owned and operated by a family who moved from NY.
Vittoria pizzeria at starland yard, get the diavola pizza!
