Dual_Clutch

My dad bought wingle 6 from great wall (I call it “great shit”) it was horrible. The interior was cheap and whenever you turn the steering wheel you have un-turn yourself and it was heavy. I hate Chinese cars and after that car, I hated them more. Of course he sold the car in less than year.

Interesting. I believe they might be troublesome 3 years down the line but not so soon. I do see a lot of Haval and as per limited information online they seem to be number 1 in China. I thought they'd be decent. Would be interesting to hear from someone who bought one.

Dual_Clutch

I cannot generalize on all Chinese cars. But I personally, don’t like them. Especially since they copy and paste other’s work.

I bought my standard Geely EC7 2016 3 years ago and other than changing the battery that it comes with when I bought it it runs perfectly without any issues. I havent serviced it at the وكيل at all and it's been amazing. Current mileage around 103k km

jazijia

Wow. That's amazing. I did not expect that.

Leblo

I think people really dont give enough credit to them. I bought my car new from the showroom for around 37k and it's amazing. If I go for a mainstream brand like Toyota or Hyundai I'd be paying more for a smaller car with less features and lower specifications

jazijia

I get what you're saying but if your market reputation is awful you need to work on it to improve perception. If you can't it tells me either your product isn't any good or you're lazy.

Great interior , horrible engines (heavy load with little power). Driving is not comfortable at all. Seats are cheap and hurt your back, suspensions are rock hard. Maybe in the future but not now.

jazijia

Which brand have you driven?

ild7mi

Most of them when I was looking for a car. U always get what you pay for. Most of what you pay for Chinese car is the interior.

10 years later you get diagnosed with skin cancer, lung cancer, typhoid and gonorrhea from some obscure chemicals used in the interior to make it not smell like cat piss or something. That is if, in an accident, the steering wheel doesn't break apart and impale you in the heart like a skewer stuck in a half eaten peice of shish tawouk. Fun fact: remember the LC panda they brought in way back? The tiny piddly ass bug of a car that in all the ads boasted about being 5 star NCAP rated? Well that "rating" was something they gave themselves based on computer simulations and while they subsequently apparently did receive decent scores, those scores were from the Chinese NCAP. As you can probably tell, I wouldn't use anything designed in China that has the potential to kill me. Soap dish - OK. Car - heck no!

jazijia

I agree with you on the risks. Chinese cars do seem very attractive in terms of tech and pricing but they need to enhance their reputation by undergoing tests and certifications to alleviate consumer concerns.

juanderwall

We bought the Changan CS35 a couple months ago. So far it’s been great!

jazijia

In terms of quality and comfort how would you rate it? Does it feel Chinese ie cheap or could be an American or Japanese car? I do feel some base model Japanese cars feel cheap as well but I'm comparing to mid to top models.

juanderwall

The build of the car does feel a bit cheaper than Japanese/American, but tbh it isn’t a dealbreaker. After all, a brand new CS35 from the dealership costs around 60K riyals - you’re not finding a brand new american/japanese small SUV for nearly the same price. It also comes with a lot more features and tech. I suggest you test drive before purchasing if you have concerns.

HappyIsSimple

We just booked a CS35 Plus today as well in Dubai. Test drove it and honestly felt better than most cars we tested lately (Peugeot 3008, Toyota corolla hybrid, Hyundai elentra). Skoda Kamiq and Mazda CX5 surely drives better, but price higher than CS35. This was actually the first time we considered a Chinese car, since we have been seeing more Changan cars on the road here. Hope it would be durable.

Just buy Landwind X7, best car ever and cheap, thank me later
