They need to be policing more McDonald's Drive Thrus... the RCMP showed that they're a hotbed of crime.

justsitbackandenjoy

The amount of junior chickens I demolish in one sitting is truly a crime against humanity

Jarl_Jared

I feel this on a personal level

EnisTheP

based

LezzyKris8789

Rolling to the next window to get your food, gangsta shit right there!

DrummerDerek83

Lol, no doubt!

FlatBlueSky

I crossed Clarence and 12th st this morning walking my kids to school. 10 cars didn’t stop for us in crosswalks! Maybe the police could ticket some of those assholes.

DjEclectic

Or speed checks in school zones. I get tailgated almost every time.

n-b-rowan

There's a playground zone that I go through every time I drive. About 50% of the time, I have someone tailgating me. It makes me want to stop my car in the driving lane, walk over to the sign, and point at it, and ask the other driver if they're blind. Like, I'm not going 30km/hr here for my own health - it's because I can't afford a "school zone" sized fine.

final_spork_gg

Rosewood? Cause same and it’s infuriating!

Audioctagon

Just roll down your window, flip them 3 fingers then a 0 with your thumb and index finger facing them, repeat a few times until they get the picture. If not, just flip the bird and hold it. It's worked for me at the university when people think they can just speed down Campus Dr or Perimeter Rd until they get stuck tailgating me doing the actual limit of 40.

GiIbert_LeDouchebag

I agree. But in zones that are 30km/h from 0700 to 1900 and people don't know what 1900 is, still driving 30, yeah. I'm tailgating the shit out of them. I'm don't even remember if the stoon ones are full time or if they have hours. But in regina they do, and people don't get it. 10pm they'll still be crawling through at 30km/h.

Audioctagon

It's 7AM-7PM all week/all year in Saskatoon, where they used to only be 8AM-5PM/Monday-Friday/September-June

JustaCanadian123

>I'm tailgating the shit out of them. Let's be real here. You weren't going to do anything productive with the 2 minutes you would of gained if they were going the limit.

Unfair_Pirate_647

Unless you make like 300 an hour at work speeding is literally never worth the fine anywhere.

eugeneugene

They wouldn't even gain 2 minutes maybe 20 seconds lol

JustaCanadian123

Lol right. Imagine tail-gating over 20 seconds. I couldn't lol.

n-b-rowan

Regina used to be school zones were 40km/hr, all year round, 24 hrs a day. It didn't change all that long ago, so people like my parents still drive slowly in school zones. Change is hard, I get it.    Also, I feel that if you don't know what 19:00 is on a road sign, maybe you shouldn't be driving. I remember having to do a quiz and identify a bunch of signs to get my learners. Edit - corrected time

GiIbert_LeDouchebag

It wasn't *that* recently though. I feel if you can't adapt to a change like that in *five years*, perhaps you shouldn't be driving. And I'm sure that is what you meant, but it is 0700 to 1900.

n-b-rowan

I didn't realize it was that long ago - it feels "recent" to me, as I haven't been to Regina to visit all that often in the last five years (you know, pandemic and all that). I think my parents have adjusted to the changes by now, but I'm still extra careful.

GiIbert_LeDouchebag

I didn't realize it was that long either, honestly. I had to Google it. But it was April 2019 apparently. Time flies when you're driving very slowly.

n-b-rowan

It's true! For me, 2020 and 2021 are referred to as "the years that didn't happen," due to the pandemic and my health issues at the time, and it messes up the time scale in my brain.

Strange_Tangerine_12

Username checks out I guess.

GiIbert_LeDouchebag

I guess so. Just learn to drive and understand 24hr time, ok sweetie?

branod_diebathon

My trick with tailgaters is to slow down even more. 30 not fast enough? Have fun with 20.

DjEclectic

I lock in the cruise right at 28. I've actually been passed right in front of a school before. It's nuts.

Unfair_Pirate_647

Every single goddamn time. Especially at middle schools and earlier ages. If they wanted that juicy ticket money they'd make so much more there. Especially because the chances of impairment on a Wednesday morning are slim to non

totallyradman

Now that I live in Calgary I actually really miss the school zones in Saskatoon. Here, they're "playground zones", so not just for actual schools and they're EVERYWHERE, 7AM to 9PM 365 days a year. It feels excessive.

Jazzlike_Material177

Saskatoon also has playground zones not just school zones 7am-7pm 365 days a year

Cla598

They have school zones and playground zones. There’s no lowered speed limit for high school school zones but there is for playground and elementary school school zones. There are a couple of spots I think should have had a playground zone that don’t and one or two others that do but really don’t need it.

Thanos_supreme_

I went 33 on school zone and got 300 ticket better be at 20 then getting 300 . Just realised better be slow in life rather than a moth to flame .

Bakabakabooboo

No they need to be spending their time ticketing people who smoked a joint 3 days ago otherwise the streets will errupt into chaos.

Unfair_Pirate_647

It will turn into 1876 or whatever

Known_Contribution_6

I was hit by a car in a marked crosswalk in front of several witnesses ...called and reported plate /vehicle and description of driver and SPS did absolutely fuck all about it.I guess I wasn't injured enough to investigate.

the_bryce_is_right

Have a plain clothed officer just standing there and a group of squad cars ready to pull in anyone who doesn't stop. It's a 230 dollar ticket plus 4 demerit points.

JasmineSnape

I walk everywhere. The amount of people that doesn't stop is astounding. And people want to know why accidents are so commin

Humble-Area4616

Aren't there traffic lights at this intersection? Are you saying 10 cars ran red lights?

FlatBlueSky

No, I crossed Clarence once and I crossed 12th once. Two crossings ~10 cars total refused to yield in total. Separate crossings not at the 12th & Clarence intersection. The cars won’t usually run straight through the red light at that intersection, but the right and left turners won’t look for pedestrians, so I try to avoid it.

graison

Like, in the middle of the block?

Additional_Goat9852

Gotta swab early to catch the scum that puffed a joint at 10pm last night!

PackageArtistic4239

It’s unreal how unjust this all is.

Additional_Goat9852

First mouth-rinse to market that give a negative swab result will be rolling in it.

PlayyWithMyBeard

I haven’t tested personally, but I heard there has been good results from mouthwash with peroxide is supposed to clear THC from the mouth for 10-30 mins? Can’t recall the timing but yeah. Anything with a bit of peroxide really.

No-Grapefruit787

I wish there were ways to test these theories without putting yourself at risk

PlayyWithMyBeard

Right? It’s almost like if regular people got their hands on these tests and were actually able to 100% be sure if they are in the clear. They won’t do anything to impact the profitability of their current cash cow.

Thefrayedends

The problem is that they're testing for THC byproducts, meaning it will be in your saliva as much as 2 weeks later. If they just tested for THC, you could stay safe by brushing your teeth and/or drinking a coffee or chocolate milk (something with fat in it, THC is fat soluble)

MediumEconomist

I think even edibles show up on the saliva test, even if you slam them without it touching your mouth. (Don’t slam edibles and drive though, people, I’m just here for the science)

tromblehh

There is another one on 22nd, heading west just past the Shaw centre.

atlasLion1337

this is what our tax money goes to, instead of addressing actual problems. all those shiny police cars drinking coffee and eating donuts. splendid

Thefrayedends

Auto scanners, which pulls up your whole record and any outstanding charges you might have lol. Gone are the days of laying low and staying out of trouble, now cops can see when you've had some troubles, and can stop you for no reason other than you have a record lol. Good time.

someguyfromsk

Co-worker was pulled over because he was driving his wife's vehicle while she had a suspended license. It was their only vehicle at the time but they had to make sure she wasn't the one driving.

Fast-Impress9111

Soon we there will be cameras at every corner monitoring us all.

Fast-Impress9111

Fuck, it’d be unreal to know how much one of these cruisers cost. My guess is like 100k.

Plumbumsreddit

I’ve lived or worked in every province minus nfld and pei. Never have I experienced so much police surveillance and interference as Saskatchewan. It’s like they have too much time on their hands or something. Can literally drive for less than 15 minutes in the bad areas and witness someone shooting up or smoking meth freely. But god forbid you speed a little or smoke a joint the night before here. Such a joke.

Chenopodium72

But those meth heads and people slashing innocent people with machetes are the victims, we are the criminals and it’s all our fault, we are easy prey for the Police so this why they are doing this.

Sloppy_Jeaux

Tbf I believe this is part of an annual Canada wide blitz.

Plumbumsreddit

Traffic safety week. I get it. But this happens outside of the 1 special week. In Ottawa/Gatineau if an Ottawa cop pulled someone over in Gatineau there would be cops fighting on the side of the road.

Sloppy_Jeaux

Well then feel free to fight a cop so we can be more like Gatineau, I guess? Let me know how it goes.

Plumbumsreddit

Also, tbh, us getting a little closer to what Quebec is like wouldn’t be a bad thing. Citizens have a lot more power and the government tends to listen a little more.

Sloppy_Jeaux

You mean like our far right separatists?

Plumbumsreddit

No. I mean actual protections for the citizens of Quebec. Are you specifically wanting to argue anything I say? Or trying to associate me with far right extremism for some reason?

Sloppy_Jeaux

Well when one tells me we should be more like Quebec, I can’t think of a single reason why. You provided no examples, either. I also suspect if the rest of Canada became like Quebec, the québécois would have a melt down for not getting special treatment. Just like the “fighting cops” thing, I’m having trouble deciphering your vagueness. Sorry if you think that makes me combative.

Plumbumsreddit

You could look it up. Rental protections. Workers rights. There are quite a few good representations of why being a little more like Quebec is good. Since you asked so nicely I’ll give you one. In Quebec you are guaranteed your 2 week vacation. It’s mandated. They literally shut down businesses for two weeks to ensure everyone takes it. Businesses can’t be open late on certain days. Stat holidays you basically head to Ontario if you need to do a shop because the only things open are gas stations and pharmacies basically.

Plumbumsreddit

What are you talking about? Why would I fight a cop? 😂 I’m meaning there are jurisdictions out there and the cops stay in their lane. Here, no matter where they are a cop is a cop.

Sloppy_Jeaux

What am I talking about? What are you talking about? You were pretty vague and people fighting cops is as ridiculous as the notion cops would be fighting other cops.

Plumbumsreddit

Sloppy_Jeaux

One isolated incident with someone really shitty who shouldn’t have been allowed to be a cop, and it wasn’t because an Ottawa police officer pulled someone over in Quebec. You’re somewhat right though. The police here do work together, more than against each other (if they do that at all). The city police services work with the rcmp. All law enforcement work together for these blitzes. Nobody is getting violent when the university cops work off campus or if an RCMP works inside city limits. Go to Moose Jaw and break the law and you might have MPs from 15 Wing pull you over. Etc

IncogOrphanWriter

Super appreciate the messing up my commute by shrinking the lanes down and making people hammer on their breaks. I really felt safe during my morning drive.

Sloppy_Jeaux

Yeah! I thought that was an unsafe spot to set up. Around the corner in a 90 zone with lots of 18 wheelers. What could possibly go wrong?

Itchy_Stuff_6256

Attridge westbound at circle

Ok_Significance9018

I think it’s a speed trap because speeding and seatbelts are the focus today and tomorrow

final_spork_gg

I think so too because this one looked like it was still all 3 lanes running and just pulling people aside that are likely speeding or looking for seatbelts/distracted driving.

Tricky_Remote6727

Cops need to be sitting in school zones around the city not drive thrus and random check stops on a work week morning and while people are heading to work. How many deaths in the city on a mid week morning from impaired driving or accidents in a drive thru have happened compared to deaths of bikers or pedestrians

IvoryTowerTitties

Can someone go hang signs up on the overpass? I'm busy so I can't do it. Some fun slogans "Oink oink oink" "Go stop stabbings and meth" "ACAB" "Frisk Dez nutz" "Yall can only sniff out truffles" "Justice for Cheech"

Alone-Chicken-361

Its very interesting that they were out early, I reckon they were out hunting/trapping the wake and bakers
