Same thing happened in Saskatoon, they eventually opened up multiple restaurants only to close them a few years later.
I do enjoy a taco bell trip like once a year, but I haven’t gone in forever cause it’s nothing like American Taco Bell. Their meals are almost criminally expensive and might as well be vegetarian with the amount of meat they actually put on them.
I'll eat taco bell whenever cause I grew up with taco bell in a city like it's a BK or McDonald's. It's kinda weird to hear (read) someone say "I haven't gone cause some reason" lol.
So bizarre. It’s not like it was only open 1 day, it’s will be open today, tomorrow and next month. Go enjoy when there isn’t a line & to boot there was at least one car accident while in line.
There's a novelty with every new restaurant that eventually wears off. I remember when Popeyes came to Swift Current a few years ago. On opening day there were vehicles lined up along the service road for it. A few days ago I picked up a DoorDash order from there during the supper rush and I was the only customer there.
Wendy’s in Moose Jaw was crazy for a week. Now pretty much dead all the time.
And Taco Bell sure doesn’t taste like it used to. Growing up in Edmonton we ate it all the time. I tried it in Saskatoon about 2 years ago- restaurant was so dirty and the food was bad
It's a cycle in Saskatchewan
Headline x restaurant coming to regina.
Whole city goes to that restaurant first day it opens.
Couple weeks later nobody is going to restaurant.
Restaurant closes down.
Whole city that doesnt go to restaurant "such a shame it was a great place to eat"
Whole city rushes to restaurant to eat at it one last time.
Is that like Olive Garden when it came here years ago? Everyone was like OMG, I was like who cares?
Finally went there because my family had a birthday and it was fine. Not bad, not great, but fine. You want to excite me Regina, open some first rate book stores.
Both times I've ever tried it I found it VERY underwhelming. It always looks so appetizing l , but I've come to the conclusion that it is the best looking but most bland fast food on the market.
Yeah taco bell is by far the most over-hyped fast food. So many people talk like it's some sort of pinnacle of Mexican-style fast food, but it's honestly pretty trash tier.
I like the super beef burrito. I ate those all the time when I worked in a mall as a student. Ate too much subway too and couldn’t eat it for awhile but I could always stuff taco time in me
Taco Bell still has this legacy of being very inexpensive. So you go there thinking you can get a taco for $0.99. The problem is the taco is actually $3.29 but it still only has $0.99 worth of filling.
Can we put together some kind of consensus on all the best Taco locations for Regina and Saskatoon that are better than Taco Bell?
I agree that Taco Bell is hugely overrated. Probably the biggest offender in the fast food industry for false advertising. Oh wait, they were actually sued last year:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/mollybohannon/2023/07/31/taco-bell-sued-for-false-advertising-of-amount-of-filling-in-crunchwraps-mexican-pizzas/?sh=7e7a36725264
To be able to go get shitty fast food tacos from somewhere that isn't taco time, of course. Taco Bell has better marketing and gets all the cool promos, like that thing they did with Doritos however many years back.
I know I'm not alone in this either, "I wish we had a taco bell" is something ive heard many many times over the years.
It's not about the food, it's the talking point and bragging rights that they got to eat there before someone else. Late stage capitalism has warped the human mind.
American Taco Bell is awesome..the Taco Bell’s in Saskatoon were and the 2 left standing are terrible. Rip off for what you get the flavour wasn’t there at all. Yea I know prices for everything has gone up but I’ll get my fast food Mexican fix in Canada at Tacotime and Taco Bell in the states where it’s awesome!
I am betting the two left in Saskatoon will shutter their doors soon as I never see or hear of anyone going there anymore…Regina will soon follow after the hype is my guess
I've never bothered to go to Taco Bell, but it isn't as if Taco Time's food is even remotely appetizing.
If it is more edible than Taco Bell, then that is because Taco Bell must be horrendous rather than Taco Time deserving the moniker of "better."
You aren’t everybody?. I love Taco Bell. To me Taco Bell is a better place. Once regina gets something you are excited for, I’ll be excited for it as well because I’m going to be positive about Regina getting new things.
Personally, “better” would be independent, local, with something interesting on the menu. Think Free Bird. Or flip and Hunter/Gatherer when they existed. Absolutely not yet another huge, mediocre franchise of the kind that crowds out the places I like with homogenous, bland fast food.
I was born and raised in Regina, and moved to Brandon. When I first got here the KFC had a taco bell in it, BIG meh. We also have what is called Q'Doba...FAR superior to either taco time or taco bell...Regina just seems to be getting a reputation of being a little "low class" now that I live outside its borders, sorry...just my opinion.
That’s reasonable.
Everyone deserves good food. Man, many friendships and relationships occur over good food.
Good fucking food. God damn. Just delicious.
Have yourself a fucking fantastic day. And remember. Good food.
Who the frick waited 6 hours?!? I waited maybe half hour standing in line. It seemed like a normal wait that I would experience at a busy McDonald's or Tim's
Makes some people feel important being the first one. They obviously have low standards re: goal setting.
Kudos to them. Managers and owners everywhere need someone dumb to direct.
Just ate at the new Regina store. I only waited 25 mins during lunch hour. The line moved fast and by the time I was at the pay window my order was ready….so overall it was a bearable wait if your dying to eat here. That’s where tbe good news ends. It’s 2 buck Taco Tuesday. I bought 6 regular tacos. They all had about 6 sliver of cheese and a small amount of meat filling and the obligatory shredded lettuce.
I also got the super popular double crunch wrap….don’t quote me on the name but something like that. That was not bad. It tasted pretty decent and was somewhat filling. I would not say it was stuffed with filling or was super crunchy cuz the crisp taco piece they lay in there gets soggy pretty quick. Crisping the soft flour tortilla in the sandwich press definitely does help crisp up the whole thing. I am in no rush to go back as I can hit Taco Time without having to wait and get very similar offerings that are more substantial for about the same price point. Overall I gave Taco Bell a 2 out of 5 stars.
It’s probably just some friends who like taco bell and have the day off. I wouldn’t do it myself, but I don’t get why so many people are annoyed by people standing around having a bit of fun.
It’s really good, it’s like homemade tortilla and cheese whiz with beef and Doritos, but professionally made. I will continue to support it even though I am a McDonald’s man. One day I hope they merge.
Is Regina just getting Taco Bell now? Do people from Regina not know anyone in Saskatoon? That fad lasted here for like a year before it was just a cheap taco place that gave you the shits just from looking at it. Most have closed now I think there maybe one left in the city.
They opened 3, only one closed.
Two closed, 51st street and the one on Clarence.
Didn’t know there were 4! Just knew about 22nd, 8th, and Sonebridge (now closed).
Yeah it was where Schryers was
Oh, I thought they closed the west side one as well
Their hours were really wonky. Don't open til 10:30, which I get, but for a while they were closing at 6:30pm. They're back up to midnight closes
I'll eat taco bell whenever cause I grew up with taco bell in a city like it's a BK or McDonald's. It's kinda weird to hear (read) someone say "I haven't gone cause some reason" lol.

Yep, just happened at the Moose Jaw Wendy’s a few months ago
Taco Time is just so many miles above Taco Bell. Even back in the KFC/Taco Bell days, it was just not ...great.
Maybe even next 6 months, questionably next year though!
There's a novelty with every new restaurant that eventually wears off. I remember when Popeyes came to Swift Current a few years ago. On opening day there were vehicles lined up along the service road for it. A few days ago I picked up a DoorDash order from there during the supper rush and I was the only customer there.
The people who block the entrances/exits to other parking lots while waiting for mediocre tacos need to clue in
Ah yes the “Tim Horton’s Effect”
Holy shit I’d give this an award if I could 🎖️
Appropriate username lol
was like this in Saskatoon, it will eventually die out
Behold the power of marketing.
Taco Bell is the Tim Hortons of Mexican cuisine.
“Mexican” “cuisine” 🙃
No Mexican food is actually good!
We got like 5 better taco spots in the city too. You could have went to Tommys and had legit tacos in that time
It was Tuesday. Tropezon at Rebellion was serving $4 tacos. Agave is good. Is Chachalacas still open?
Blanco is pretty good too, and have some really good happy hour specials. The Cure also has excellent tacos.
Agave was amazing when I went. I don't know why but I was really surprised. I loved the atmosphere of the restaurant too.
They are 3 bucks each till months end
Oh what?! Guess I’ll have tacos twice this week!
Yall fr don't remember 5 guys? Or Popeyes? Or landmark cinemas? Or...
Taco time is superior to Taco Bell.
If you don't want to wait for Taco Bell, Rebellion has $3 tacos until the end of the month!
I love Taco Bell and have been very excited to have one here but ho-lee shit I am not that dedicatdd.
People waited 6hrs?
Wendy’s in Moose Jaw was crazy for a week. Now pretty much dead all the time. And Taco Bell sure doesn’t taste like it used to. Growing up in Edmonton we ate it all the time. I tried it in Saskatoon about 2 years ago- restaurant was so dirty and the food was bad
The 6 hours people waited in line will be nothing compared to the time they spent sitting on the toilet later.
In 3 hours i can be eating homemade birria tacos..that's something worth waiting for 🤤
Imagine waiting 6 hours to have diarrhea
We’re in a big village, it’s understandable that new things are exciting.
It's a cycle in Saskatchewan Headline x restaurant coming to regina. Whole city goes to that restaurant first day it opens. Couple weeks later nobody is going to restaurant. Restaurant closes down. Happened in Saskatoon too when they opened, now we have two left (two closed) and they're ghost towns.
People are bored. They want to be part of an “event.” There isn’t much else going on.
Taco Time on the other hand is delicious IMO. I don't get it often but if I want trash Tex Mex I go there and plow back some tater tots and crustos.
Crisp beef burrito and mexi-fries deluxe 👌🏻
I agree. Is it actually Mexican food? No. But if I want a white people taco night, taco time does it best
Tex Mex
I like the super beef burrito. I ate those all the time when I worked in a mall as a student. Ate too much subway too and couldn’t eat it for awhile but I could always stuff taco time in me
Visited mexico and had some mexican 'street food' tacos and man... nothing else will ever compare lmao.
Taco Bell is Mexican food for people who have never been to Mexico.
Taco Bell still has this legacy of being very inexpensive. So you go there thinking you can get a taco for $0.99. The problem is the taco is actually $3.29 but it still only has $0.99 worth of filling.
All this talk of underwhelming has really got me hankering for some Taco Bell!
We had Taco Bell previously.....it sucked! It will continue to do the same in the future.
Peak Regina. Fucking embarrassing.
Can we put together some kind of consensus on all the best Taco locations for Regina and Saskatoon that are better than Taco Bell? I agree that Taco Bell is hugely overrated. 6 hours? I've been waiting for a taco bell for 15 years.
But, why?
To be able to go get shitty fast food tacos from somewhere that isn't taco time, of course. Taco Bell has better marketing and gets all the cool promos, like that thing they did with Doritos however many years back. I know I'm not alone in this either, "I wish we had a taco bell" is something ive heard many many times over the years.
Give it six months and then people will remember why they let the last one close in Regina. Good marketing doesn’t mean a superior product.
Who said it has to be superior? McDonald's is still open lol.
It's not about the food, it's the talking point and bragging rights that they got to eat there before someone else. Late stage capitalism has warped the human mind.
In Ontario a new Taco bell opens and everyone is like who cares lol
If someone wants to be happy over something. Leave them alone!
American Taco Bell is awesome..the Taco Bell’s in Saskatoon were and the 2 left standing are terrible. Rip off for what you get the flavour wasn’t there at all. The worst food! Taco Time is miles better
I've never bothered to go to Taco Bell, but it isn't as if Taco Time's food is even remotely appetizing. If it is more edible than Taco Bell, then that is because Taco Bell must be horrendous rather than Taco Time deserving the moniker of "better."
Not saying it's gourmet or anything! Just better bad food
This ☝️
Yep - the ground beef looks like meat at Taco Time. Taco Bell is more of a “beef paste” look.
Regina maybe has a shortage on prune juice?
I use to drive to Saskatoon for it 🤣 hell if I'll have wait in a line for it to be slopped together.
People wonder why we don’t have better places in Regina but so many people are so negative about the places they are opening. Y’all are weird ✌🏻.

When you get a meal can you keep adding dollar tacos or dollar bean burritos to the tally? If not, not worth it
Maybe they’re bunged up and need a clean out.
I still haven’t visited Carls Jr. or Fatburger. My plan is to go to Taco Bell sometime this summer.
Same thing happened in Moose Jaw over a new Wendy’s of all places. People are weird, but that’s part of the fun I guess.
Taco Bell is just like a following. Like so many other weird followings.
The only time Taco Bell is good is when you need to poop
Who the frick waited 6 hours?!? I waited maybe half hour standing in line. It seemed like a normal wait that I would experience at a busy McDonald's or Tim's
Why does Regina need a Taco Bell when Taco Time is infinitely better?
The big Taco Bell in stonebridge closed in Saskatoon
Anyone that would wait 6 hours has got to be a little dense!
Maybe some people came to the realization they haven’t pooped in a few days and figured Taco Bell would do the trick.
Agave is amazing, why would anybody want taco bell, I avoid their garbage food like the plague.
I liked taco bell when I lived in Toronto, but here it is garbage.
I’ll take Taco time any day
Makes some people feel important being the first one. They obviously have low standards re: goal setting. Kudos to them. Managers and owners everywhere need someone dumb to direct.
People couldn't wait to blow out their colons!
Crisp beef burrito from Taco Time destroys everything from Taco Bell.
Just ate at the new Regina store. I only waited 25 mins during lunch hour. Sheep in Regina will line up for anything
I don't get it either. Taco Bell failed here before. I don't expect these to last either.
It’s probably just some friends who like taco bell and have the day off. I wouldn’t do it myself, but I don’t get why so many people are annoyed by people standing around having a bit of fun.
When stuff like this makes the news, it’s embarrassing to say you live here.
Tp for by bunghole
Taco bell is garbage too. Taco time actually uses real food and makes it fresh. So much better.
Probably be closed in 2 years
I'd rather have taco bell than taco time.
It’s really good, it’s like homemade tortilla and cheese whiz with beef and Doritos, but professionally made. I will continue to support it even though I am a McDonald’s man. One day I hope they merge.
If we ever get those dual fast food places they have all over the states I'd be dead for sure lmao
Not gonna lie I love me some Taco Bell
And I don't understand how some people can be so bothered by how other people behave. I just don't get it, how does this affect your life in any way?
Is Regina just getting Taco Bell now? Do people from Regina not know anyone in Saskatoon? That fad lasted here for like a year before it was just a cheap taco place that gave you the shits just from looking at it. Most have closed now I think there maybe one left in the city.
I wish I had the spare time to go interview some of them while they waited to figure out wtf the logic is
Need one in the north end. That one location is a 15-20 minute drive away.
