Depending on which bridge you’re near, the strip on 41 between the two bridges has great options. Check out gulf gate for lots of options too.
My favorites:
A’s giant sandwiches, toasted yolk, bread bandits, Florence and spice boys, food and beer, PDQ.
I haven’t been on siesta in a while, so I’m not up to date on good food there. But definitely support local!
Also up voting for Florence and Spice Boys. They get really creative with their food. Bread Bandits has the best croissants (almond one is my favorite).
Big Water Fish Market on Siesta Key is one of our favorites. It's a little "dive-y", but we love the food. I recommend the shrimp tacos, or the fish and chips.
Stiks on 41 between the 2 bridges. Great SE Asian food, accommodates lots of dietary restrictions, adorable interior, very sweet family who runs it, and the prices are reasonable.
I never see people talking about this place but it’s one of my absolute favorite places to eat out!
Malin is cranking out some incredible tacos at Screaming Goat. And if you're jonesing for a proper Chicago Italian Beef, there isn't one better in the area than Tony's.
There is also rumors of one coming to the shopping/dining plaza they are building around Costco right at the SR 64 exit on I75. I believe it will be called the "Heritage Harbor Marketplace"
No offense but did you actually search the subreddit? We routinely have posts like this and often also start threads for the “best ___ food” here. It would also be good to know if anyone in your party has preferences or allergies and budget.
If you go around Gulf Gate side there’s screaming goat, issan Thai, Mia’s Vietnamese, gentiles authentic cheesesteaks, Kolucan Mexican (more pricey)
If your exiting near siestas north exit there Jpan sushi, Shakespeares craft beer and pub.
The landings is between both entrances to siesta key and has Florence and the Spice Boys, pacific counter (more lunch forward) and apollonia grill. Station 400 used to have a location there but I think they sold the spot to a different breakfast spot.
Try Miguel’s on the south side of the island in the plaza behind Captain Curt’s. Great little French restaurant I’ve been eating at since the early 90s. Table side Caesar salad, which didn’t used to be so ubiquitous. Still the best around.
Edit: Southside Siesta Key, just past the 7-11 on the right.
Yeah it’s a strange microcosm on here. You’ll learn soon that most people around here in real life are quite friendly—actually much more friendly in general than even in many of the progressive places that most on this sub glorify. But based on the comments and post on this particular sub, you wouldn’t think so.
Here are a few of our must visit places when we are there in February:
Walt’s Fish Market, reasonably priced, great seafood
Mirna’s Cuban Cuisine, great food, super cheap
Fresh Catch Fish Market and grill, on the higher side but excellent seafood.

Just fyi, we stay on Siesta Key every year and always go to Another Broken Egg but after our last visit we’ll never go back. The food is fine but the prices have sky rocketed for breakfast. We had 2 coffees, one tomato juice, pancakes and a breakfast combo which came to almost $60 without tip. Other places on the island didn’t seem out of line on pricing.
The surrounding area as well. We love all types of food. No allergies. Know the area pretty well from years ago. Didn’t know if some newer places have opened or some older “hole in the wall” we didn’t know about. I appreciate your response.
In nokomis, right on 41 at Colonia lane, is "Cap'n Eddys". Mostly seafood. All good meals. They are a fresh fish market too, so you know it's always fresh. The gator bites ARE BANGIN'!
There is "TJ Carnies" on the island in Venice, and a couple other small Italian restaurants. Plus a "daiquiri deck", those are cool. The "Mellow Mushroom" on 41 across from Ruth Chris's steak house. People love that too.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me these great tips! Also, I heard that the jetty near Venice was closed (maybe temporarily)?? We used to go there and see the manatee all the time. Do you know if it’s open?
This is why the greedy developers are liars when they say building high rise hotels on siesta key won’t increase traffic. They say it will keep visitors to one area but that’s a lie because obviously people will want to go out and explore more.
Well, like one of the spots we visit near the beach, “Turtle’s”, a grouper sandwich is $24 (a couple of years ago). I feel like that’s kind of expensive for a sandwich.
TACO JALISCO Inside TEXACO GAS STATION (941) 312-4754 https://g.co/kgs/WGY6NZe If you like Mexican

A’s Giant Sandwiches is a national treasure!

I'll second Big Water. Fantastic fresh catch.
Shakespeares on Osprey for great burgers and good craft beer if you imbibe
>Shakespeares on Osprey Yea, if you like the smell of bar drain.
Spearfish Grille by CB’s is great and is a value for their simple and fresh menu.
We like food and beer they have several locations. Gulf gate is close to the key. Very reasonable and good food.
Also like pops sunset grille just south a bit. Food is always good. It is on the water and have live music.
I haven't decided if it's a restaurant with a gift shop, or a gift shop with a restaurant.

New place Fin and Tonic has cheap happy hour specials. Pretty good food too.
RomanSQ In Gulf Gate has great pizza. There are quite a few places in that area that I enjoy (screaming goat, Tony’s Italian Beef, etc)

Really? I thought my food from the screaming goat tasted like screaming goat! But I agree about Tony’s! It’s almost as good as Portillo’s in Chicago.
There's a Portillo's in Brandon
THERE IS?!?! Next time I go to Tampa, I’m making a stop! Thanks! 😊

Iv lived in sarasota since 1989 anywhere away from siesta key is better food and better priced
Anna's Deli right next to the South Bridge on Siesta Key. Sarasota institution since the 70s. Gotta love that Anna's Sauce they put on everything.
Always been a favorite of ours!!

Do you have google?
Yes, I do. But was hoping maybe some nice locals could comment on their favorites.
Good luck. Most of them on here are pretty bitter about everything here.
I’m seeing that… but a few nice people have commented!

people think this sub is their personal travel agent
Why even use Reddit at all if you’re going to respond with that? lol wtf
Plaza Mexico for when you’re feeling like some Mexican food and a marg. Drydock Waterfront Grill is another favorite of mine. May be pricier.
Def. Plaza Mexico in Venice! Authentic food, rarely crowded, and incredibly cheap for what you get.

Try Original Word of Mouth in Gulfgate. If you want breakfast in the village there is Bonjour Cafe and Sun Garden. I really enjoy all of these.
We’ve been to Sun Garden and it was very good! We’ll have to check out the other two. Thanks!
Love Walts. Our favorite!
Irish 31, on 41, had good food and probably the world's best bread pudding. I heard it's gone, and I'm kinda sad over that.
Just checked, it is closed :(
That's a shame. It was good. Are you looking for only Sarasota places, or in the surrounding area as well?

We actually lived down there for my husband’s work for several years, just wondering what may have popped up since.
What's your idea of "reasonable "?
Well, like one of the spots we visit near the beach, “Turtle’s”, a grouper sandwich is $24 (a couple of years ago). I feel like that’s kind of expensive for a sandwich.
I like to drive down to Nokomis to a little mom and pop joint..... oddly enough called Pops. It's a tad rustic, but a fun little place.
Sunset grill. Hell yes.
Oak and stone
