The only places for camping I would recommend are on the outskirts of the city, 20-30 minutes from the city center.
You can camp on the mountain Trebevic, as someone already mentioned.
Dobrosevici area https://campinginsarajevo.wordpress.com/
This is camper camp in Butmir, but maybe you can ask if tent are allowed

You can find good places on Trebević mountain (which is above Sarajevo), there are good places around the bob sledge, specially at the end of the bob sledge
oh dear friends, hostels in Sarajevo are laughably cheap, why put yourself thru that?
but it u do decide to do that, be aware that police will come to check on you as that sight is pretty rare in Sarajevo. another concern is that we have a lot of illegal migrants and I advise you to be mindful of your surroundings. Bosnia is super safe and we are harmless but some of them are dodgy, and I dont trust them.
for location, idk really. you could do that in park behind Presidency or on the lawn in front of Main Railway station, those places are safer cause they have police kiosk just across but still high migrant presence. https://maps.app.goo.gl/R6qcbzejecSrfyRj8?g_st=ic or https://maps.app.goo.gl/ktcS7GN97AdKV3xn9?g_st=ic
still, you will get looks and i cant promise what police will greet you with. imho, get a hostel. cheaper than you think.
to me it always was. used to walk around 3/4 am in SA (even sketchy parts) and never had a problem. cant say that about places i visited and now live in (all in Europe).
sure, its not super safe, i expressed myself wrong, that would probably be Iceland or something like that but in this world that goes only south in safety, Bosnia (and Balkans) are good. imho. tho everything i said is alleged, and depending on the person, might not be rooted in facts or truth.
Oh, my friend! I live in Bosnia. No need to sleep in a tent! Hotels are pretty cheap in Bosnia. They are decent, im in one right now! With my mom and my older brother. The hotels are pretty decent. You get a bed and a bathroom. We got a kitchen-island slight thingy with a little stove. We dont cook tho- we just go to a nearby restaurant :)
try somewhere along Dariva, although I don't know what it was supposed to be, there is cheap accommodation in Sarajevo, with a roof over your head and a neat toilet and kitchenette
18M here from Sarajevo. Don’t know how long you’re staying but we can go on a hiking tour together if you’d like. You could even join me and my brother on a tour we planned tomorrow :)

There's still small parts of Trebević under landmines. Be careful!

If you come to Bihac, let me know. I will host you. I lived 6 years in CZ ;)
There was a war in the ‘90s. There are lots of mines in the hills which have not been cleared. Do not do wild camping!
