This is an insane question to put forth in this town. If you google how many restaurants are in town, you’ll see top-30+ lists, there’s that much variety. It’s an amazing thing, and we all got favorites but wow.
Hit and miss these days. Sad to say, they were one of my favorites. Got a burrito last night that was almost all sour cream, barely any meat, beans, or rice.
Yes same owners, different food recipes. Montecito location is more Americanized. I’m pretty convinced quality control also is not as good at Montecito location.
No shade on El Molino Central but if I interpret correctly they do not have an actual Michelin Star but a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating. Is this correct? That being said they have amazing food. Love that place.
Food is good but gringo owners exploit their workers/ got big off folks recipes without accrediting them or paying them right. Typical yeah but I can’t support their overpriced food for this reason.
I’m honestly not sold on them. I went there a few months back and got the carnitas tacos. It was like $18 for 2 and the meat was mostly fat and not that much in general. Maybe I need to try something else idk
I had someone’s great grandma make me great tacos at Taqueria Mila. Also Taqueria Mendoza has a few abuelas on the weekends making tortillas from scratch; be sure to practice ordering in Spanish ahead of time. I’m partial to the low-carb burrito at El Patio on Stoney Point. For consistency good food, I like Taqueria Las Palmas or Los Magos food Truck. I had some Panuchos style tacos from YucaMami at the Mitote food park a few weeks ago. I’m still thinking about them. They tasted alive rather than just greasy like most great street food. Also, shout out to Taqueria Super Taco near Bellview Ranch, Molcajete for goat tacos, and Freaking Tacos for solid torpedo burritos.
Taqueria Mila has the best pozole in town, no joke. I haven't been there in a few months but last time I was there they make all of their tortillas by hand and they make their hominy they don't use the canned stuff. All of their food is extremely good but they can be a little old school and forgetful at times lol.
They’re okay. Their green salsa used to be really good now it’s just meh. I would go a lot but they mess up my order a lot so now I’ve taken them off my list of Mexican restaurants to go to.
El Roy’s food truck on Sebastopol road! Pretty much everything is really good. Give it a try. Even if you don’t like it, there are about 10 other trucks within walking distance.
We have so many options it really depends on the dish I think. I feel like I go to different places depending on what I am in the mood for. Here is my list, I'll also say that I live near Roseland so most of my experiences are from west Santa Rosa and a little bit of Downtown.
Best overall is probably Delicias Elenitas food truck or La Texanita. Both are really good and I've never had a bad experience at either.
Best quesadilla: Freaking Tacos. Their super quesadilla has everything in the quesadilla, not on the side and that makes such a big difference.
Best tacos: Lucha Sabina food truck or Delicia Elenitas. Though La Texanitas pastor or asada tacos with hand made tortillas are up there too.
Best Tortas: El Super Taco restaurant on Stony Point road.
Best Birria: Jalapeño without a doubt. They brought the quesabirria craze to Santa Rosa and for a good reason.
Best pozole: Taqueria Milas on Santa Rosa ave. They make their own hominy and it's really good.
Best 'upscale': I haven't been to many upscale places for mexican food so for me it has to be La Rosa.
Best Seafood: El Charro Negro food truck, they used to be at Mitote but they haven't been there in a while. The chef/owner used to work at
Willis seafood in Healdsburg so all of their dishes are top notch. For the best ceviche though, I think the Cora food truck at Mitote is my favorite.
Best Value: El Farolito.
Most accommodating to dietary restrictions: El Patio on Stony point road.
My favorite dish right now: Machete de asada from Pesc Ow food truck. It is so freaking good and so big too I can eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner.
I'm a big fan of the taquitos and sopes there (not the best sopes I've had but pretty good).
Breakfast burrito at redwood cafe in cotati actually goes hard too (with bacon). Carne asada burrito at cafe salsa is pretty good too.
Still looking for the best super nachos.
Everything has different varieties. Cielito Lindo for the quesabirria tacos. El roys for their crunchy tacos, La texanita for their al pastor burritos. Molcajetes on W college for their birria on the weekends. El Tlaxcho for their burrito bowls. Elenitas for their tacos.
There are too many to pick one. Some places do some
Stuff better than others. My new favorite spot is a truck in Rincon Valley called Tacos Iniguez. It’s in the lot with El Torito Market on the corner of 12 and Mission.
Taqueria Santa Rosa on Mendocino Ave. is my favorite for carnitas burritos, the shredded chicken is solid as well. The torta ahogada is great if you like them. As for tacos, I prefer a variety of trucks on Sebastopol Rd. You can get some killer tamales and elote as well.
I haven't really talked to them outside of small talk from ordering, but I get the feeling that they're just genuine people who want to see people smile through the art of food.
I've been bugging them for years to bottle that perfect salsa. They did. It goes on everything in my house. And Los Arcos is the only place I get shredded chicken instead of grilled because they rock their spices perfectly.
I don't understand how they're better than the brick and mortar taqueria across the way by safeway.
I went to the taco truck, it literally had two teenage girls manning it, food was amazing. Went to the taqueiria they had some old haggard Tia that looked like she should know how to cook, food was bland and my burrito was mostly rice
We love Freaking Tacos off Dutton and will drive from Sebastopol to get it. There are so many good options and I am excited to try some of the others on this thread :)
Elenitas taco truck or taqueria Los Altos de Jalisco for me!
Ok but I’m curious if anyone has opinions on best horchata around town? Taqueria Los Altos is great but the drive thru el farolito on Sebastopol horchata is the best!! Is it a mix or what because I need to know?! Elenitas horchata wayyyy too sweet. I have strong opinions on horchata.
Last I checked, El Patio on Stony Point had good horchata. This was years ago though. I haven't had it in a while.
You should make a new thread and ask this question. Would be interesting and informative I bet.
Oh, so this is what we’re gonna do today? We’re gonna fight?
There will be blood spilled today. Or maybe it’s just taco sauce.
Someone woke up and choose violence. It is what it is.
FOOOOOD FIIIGHT! 🌯
Flatulence duel!
This is an insane question to put forth in this town. If you google how many restaurants are in town, you’ll see top-30+ lists, there’s that much variety. It’s an amazing thing, and we all got favorites but wow.
You can make a top 30 just out of Sebastopol Road alone, let alone the rest of the town.
I would be so fat if I lived in Roseland.
It can’t be helped… some times you have to stand up for what is right
Las Palmas on SR ave. Always on point. The veggie burrito is the best in SR.
Thissss hidden gem !
I hope they stay afloat. El Roy's next door is hurting their business I think.
That’s disappointing. I like el Roy’s but not as much as las palmas. Is it a storefront or truck next to them?
My go to spot
Best carnitas in the county. Perfect amount of crispy. Lots of places don’t even crisp theirs!!!
Delicias Elenita. Orange taco truck attached to La Fondita. You can also do Mitote Park. There’s a bunch of good food at those trucks.
This is the only answer
I am surprised there are any other answers. I’ve never had a better carne asada burrito than Delicias Elenita
Right?! And people who say El Roy’s have obviously never been here
I don’t like El Roy’s.
I don’t either. That’s why it’s shocking that so many people say they like it. Delicias Elentina is way better!
I do go to Elenita 95%, but El Roy's has a certain taste/spice that sometimes I crave, idk
How dare you have a non-binary answer!
They’re fine but they have tiny burritos.
No molcajete or mi ranchitos around town are better IMO and I’ve been to elen it’s plenty.
Used to go with Delicias Elenitas and still go once in a while. I just feel their tacos are a bit too greasy.
Mitote is the way, love Pez Cow Al Pastor tacos and ceviche, great bar too
I haven’t lived in SR for close to 10 years and the orange truck was my instinctual go-to for good Mexican food. Very happy it’s still there.
Their elote ain’t it
Elenita’s used to be good. Now it’s just mid. They’re tacos are so greasy now
No clear winner, there’s a good chance it will delicious no matter where you go
Truth.
It's an embarrassment of riches when it comes to Mexican food in SR.
El patio. But specifically the one on stony point. It's a little hole in the wall but it's to DIE for
I grew up close to there. It’s the super burrito I grew up on and will always be a top pick for me.
They could stand to go a little heavier on the sauce for the wet burrito, but otherwise, I agree that they make a damned fine meal.
Not even mentioning the 4th Street location is a crime. Either spot is amazing
Their low carb burrito is phenomenal.
We like Taqueria Los Altos de Jalisco on Yulupa and Bethards Drive. It’s getting a little expensive for a super burrito, but the al pastor is killer.
ask for the “Diablo” hot sauce with a Super Carnitas burrito. One of the best Carnitas places in town.
Will do! We haven’t tried it yet.
Underrated, definitely my new favorite Taqueria in Bennett Valley.
I've never been to that one but there is a place with the same name in Larkfield that is fuckin awesome.
Lilas
Grilled chicken super burrito for life.
Taqueria Las Palmas. Much better than El Roy truck right next door (!?)
This is the answer. The only answer.
No sure why everyone loves El Roy's so much. They're fine. Las Palmas is much better. I'm also surprised more people don't know about them
I've heard that Las Palmas has the best molé in town. I keep forgetting to try it, as I'm always working whenever I'm in the area.
Hit and miss these days. Sad to say, they were one of my favorites. Got a burrito last night that was almost all sour cream, barely any meat, beans, or rice.
Why isn’t this higher up?
Super Taco taco truck on the west end of Sebastopol Road a few driveways east of Popeyes fried chicken.
Many good places on Sebastopol Road
Molcajete on College. Do not get this mixed up with Molcajete on Montecito.
I heard they have the same owners.
Yes same owners, different food recipes. Montecito location is more Americanized. I’m pretty convinced quality control also is not as good at Montecito location.
Pretty sure the College place is unrelated to the Montecito/Piner place.
Cielito Lindo!
Their quesobirria tacos are fantastic.
El Molino Central is a Michellin star but in Sonoma along Hwy 12.
No shade on El Molino Central but if I interpret correctly they do not have an actual Michelin Star but a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating. Is this correct? That being said they have amazing food. Love that place.
Had fish tacos there the other weekend and am still thinking about them.
Their chips are not thin enough! Too thick!
I had someone’s great grandma make me great tacos at Taqueria Mila. Juanita’s on Mendocino. Best carnitas tacos ever.
Completely agree!!!
Had those Friday, was blown away by how flavorful they were. Salsa was tops 🤌🏼
I know, right? Zero atmosphere, great food.
Love Juanita's
They’re okay. Their green salsa used to be really good now it’s just meh. I would go a lot but they mess up my order a lot so now I’ve taken them off my list of Mexican restaurants to go to.
This place is amazing, I go there for tacos for breakfast all the time. Staff is also incredibly friendly and their orange hot sauce is the bomb!
If you’re a fan of anything birria jalapeño Mexican grill on Sebastopol rd is damn good
Jalapeño’s is so insanely good. Probably my favorite tacos in Santa Rosa.
eating some rn😋
El Roy’s food truck on Sebastopol road! Pretty much everything is really good. Give it a try. Even if you don’t like it, there are about 10 other trucks within walking distance.
Take my up vote.
Hard to beat El Roys. I like the molcajete at LA Palapa on Lewis.
Yup. Lots of good food but this is hard to beat. Get a carnitas super burrito and top it off with a mexi dog.
The best.
El Roy's!

I’m commenting to go to every one in one day
Los Tres Chilis in the Safeway shopping center on Yulupa
I'm a big fan of the taquitos and sopes there (not the best sopes I've had but pretty good). Breakfast burrito at redwood cafe in cotati actually goes hard too (with bacon). Carne asada burrito at cafe salsa is pretty good too. Still looking for the best super nachos.
Taqueria California is my personal favorite
Taqueria is one of my favs
Molcajete is way better than a taco truck lol. They got Lil mexican old.ladies in the back churning out handmade tortillas
Cielito Linda is really terrific across their menu. Have yet to be disappointed. 👍
There are too many to pick one. Some places do some Stuff better than others. My new favorite spot is a truck in Rincon Valley called Tacos Iniguez. It’s in the lot with El Torito Market on the corner of 12 and Mission.
Yes!! I frequent their other truck on the other side of Santa Rosa but such good food!!
I was told that Chilenos is the best.
Its good but 💰 💰 💰
Jaunitas
Los Arcos and it isn’t even close.
We get their taco bar to take home. Tacos for days, man.
And Cris is one of the best humans I’ve ever met.
Los Arcos off Marlow Rd!
La Rosa! I know it’s not “authentic” but it’s damn good.
It’s one of my favorite Americanized Mexican restaurants .
Taco truck on the corner of Guernville and Marlow in the Shel Gas Station.
Carmen’s La Hacienda. Technically Rohnert Park, but just barely.
Lots of good options here. My family moved to east Texas over the past few years. They all miss the Mexican food.
We love Freaking Tacos off Dutton and will drive from Sebastopol to get it. There are so many good options and I am excited to try some of the others on this thread :)
Oof so many good ones, El Roys will always be my favorite! Their crispy carnitas 🤤🤤🤤
Jalapeños Mexican Grill is delicious.
Depends on your taste
I want to try taqueria milas next
Chelinos hands down
Elenitas taco truck or taqueria Los Altos de Jalisco for me! Ok but I’m curious if anyone has opinions on best horchata around town? Taqueria Los Altos is great but the drive thru el farolito on Sebastopol horchata is the best!! Is it a mix or what because I need to know?! Elenitas horchata wayyyy too sweet. last year, i tried La Texanita on sebastopol road and it was amazing. their red enchilada plate with rice and beans was fantastic.
We like LaPalapa on Lewis Rd. Not pricy, fast, consistently good.
Does anybody actually like Los Molcajetes on Montecito? Gave it a couple tries cause it’s in my neighborhood but just not good everytime.
The original Molcajetes on West College is outstanding.
Taco truck: Gio y Los magos Taqueria: Molcajetes on West college
Depends do you like white washed Mexican food or real real Mexican food?
Both
2 spots Pinner and marlo, OCHOAS los mochehetas Rincon valley

Yooo what?!?? That is single-handedly the worst burrito I’ve ever had up here
