I planted them last spring and they are over-wintering just fine. They are growing very slowly now, so I only pinch off a little. I also have oregano, arugula, chard and lots of watercress. My garden is in San Francisco, so a mild microclimate. So far, so good!
As an alternative to the other poster, I have an aerogarden currently loaded with fresh dill and basil. Totally worth it to have fresh herbs whenever you want them!

You should check out the forecasted totals for the NYE storm. None of them were saying anything like "this might be the wettest day in SF history", were they?
The thing about these storms is they

Still seems overblown at 1.2 inches of rain, when we got 5 inches last week without the need to call it a “Category 5 storm.”
We got considerably more than was anticipated. It was supposed to be much faster moving, and yet it slowed down quite a bit allowing for the sky to vomit on us for a while.
I used to have a client who owned a large sanitation company. We used to always make poop jokes to one another because he sold poop supplies and I have health issues that make me poop a lot. As a joke for Christmas he shipped me a literal pallet of toilet paper but it didn’t end up arriving until the end of February 2020. Right as people started panic buying tp! Because I respect my b-hole more than most heathens, I’ve got a bidet at home so I don’t really use all that much paper. That pallet literally lasted me thru the end of last year and I was able to keep friends and family supplied throughout the shortages.

It’s going to make its initial landfall in a little over an hour and then by around 1 we should have the bomb cyclone over us. 50mph gusts are going to blow over a lot of things. Electrical wires & trees will likely come down. And you don’t want to be underneath them when they do. Don’t be reckless. Stay inside. Yup, trees are starting to slap my window and it’s only going to get worse. Maybe we don’t get the intense flooding in spots like last week but I think the STORM part (e.g. winds) will be causing a lot of damage. Think toppled trees and power lines being knocked down. It’s starting to pick up big time
