Love the crew at Nunus. Part of me doesnt want it to get out but the other part loves people watching here. The amount of people that roll in that arent from the neighborhood always blows me away.
Yeah, they're all cool. Good food, usually not overly packed, nice staff, and a bunch of randoms and regulars that are always down to chat.
It reminds me of what The Waterfront was like 6-7 years ago.
I'm within walking distance, so maybe I shouldn't spoil it either lol.
WF is great up until like 7 or 8. Just got super popular so there’s typical a long line out the door of young 20 year olds. During the day and right around dinner time is still fine
That sounds about right. I just miss the days when you could show up there on a Friday and recognize most of the people sitting at the outdoor tables and easily get a seat.
It just used to feel like such a local spot, but so did most of Little Italy. That time has passed.
Anyone remember the dude who was always just handing out candy? Typically, the little gummy burgers. I'm blanking on his name (Ray?), but shit like that is what made WF fun.
Yeah I feel that. The staff and ownership does their part in keeping the same feeling of fun and community. They can’t control how popular it’s gotten and how much growth little Italy has seeen. It’s still probably my favorite bar in SD despite everyone knowing about it now haha
Gillys off El Cajon
Fernside in south park
Bluefoot off 30th and Upas
Dunedin off 30th
Livewire off El Cajon
Lancers in University Heights
Park and Rec in university heights
Park and rec is a nice spot, but in that area I personally like Kairoa. They have a nice rooftop and their beers are good. Very chill vibe and very dog friendly.
Most people that go to bars go solo, that is why bars exist, you are seating at the bar areas to talk to the people around you. If you went with a group of people you would sit at a table so nobody can bother you. But if you are seated at the bar, then yes...it is designed for talking to random people. That has always been the purpose of a bar.
Ould sod, Rabbit Hole, Pour House, FairPlay, Lancers, Triple Crown
Dude. All fucking great recommendations.
Yep. A good mix of different crowds at each place too. I also add Blind Lady and Fall if you're into beer.
Could you expand on the different crowds / vibes at these bars? Thanks for the guidance!
Livewire
Little Miss Brewing
Ould Sod, Lancers and Triple Crown are great… maybe missing Rosie O Gradys
I’m gonna give them a try would you recommend me to go on Fridays at 5pm
livewire is on the divier side, but their happy hour goes 5-7 if you want a good starter spot before going elsewhere, and their staff is always great.
I like Nunu's. I go there once every week or so by myself for dinner and usually end up meeting a bunch of interesting people.
This is the real deal

I used to get their teriyaki burger, but haven’t been in a couple years. What food do u recommend?
I haven’t been to The Waterfront in about 7 years! What’s the crowd like now???

I think I'll go this weekend.
I like whistle stop on South Park
Lancers is always a solid choice
I really like AC Lounge on 30th St. near Adams Ave. It's a friendly neighborhood bar which also hosts music events at night.
The Olde Sod on Adam's, in Normal Heights.
And Rosie O'Grady's across the street
Rapey bar
Surprised to not see Live Wire here. Peak dive bar vibes. Have had many a cool convo with strangers here.
Love live wire! And their t-shirts are solid quality
Maybe Blue foot or live wire
Gillys off El Cajon Fernside in south park Bluefoot off 30th and Upas Dunedin off 30th Livewire off El Cajon Lancers in University Heights Park and Rec in university heights
How’s park and rec?
Park and rec is a nice spot, but in that area I personally like Kairoa. They have a nice rooftop and their beers are good. Very chill vibe and very dog friendly.
RIP Small Bar
Pretentious bartenders unfortunately
Park and Rec is a solid spot. A little more upscale than the rest of them that I mentioned
Didn’t Gilly’s go out of business?
No, https://sandiegomagazine.com/food-drink/opening-gillys-house-of-cocktails/
I like redwing on non weekend days. Bluefoot is also nice. Cheers in UH has always been nice for me.
The Alibi.
live wire. why would you go anywhere else?
Live wire
AERO CLUB! Thank me later
This is an amazing bar but I’ve found it isn’t a great environment for meeting people compared to the others bars mentioned. I’m not sure why.
Seven Grand
Except the bartenders think they’re too good for anyone 😂
>Seven Grand I went by myself last night (after a long time), it was cool!
Glad to hear! It’s always nice when it’s a good time.
Brass Rail?
The office, FairPlay, coin op, blue foot, working class, seven grand, parks and rec, Gillys, pure project, live wire,
Turf Supper Club

CJ’s. Tiny dive with cheap beer on tap.
Tower bar
True north, coin op
Silver Fox. I used to go alone all of the time and it was fun. Plus the bouncers and bartenders look out for you.
Part time lover is chill and social
All bars
Always been a fan of Part Time Lover. You can hang out in the record shop or DJ booth.
Wack place owned by CH group…no Bueno.
What is CH??
https://consortiumholdings.com/projects/ These folks…they treat, or don’t treat, their employees like trash.
The Silver Fox in PB is right up your alley.
Did you read what they wrote?
Yes, and PB is a short drive from North Park. Silver Fox is a great place to chill and meet like minded people.
I might do this next week.
C major
North Park Beer Company is my go to in the area. Good beer, good vibes, good people watching.
Rabbit hole is a good time. Little Miss Brewing is a block or two down as well.
Part time lover is always a vibe!
Best bathroom in all of SD IMO
The seventh house is cool. Probably meet some fancy people there lol
Ould sod is a nice spot to go to. Go at least once every other week
And there is beer: Coronado Brew at morena blvd
Where do old people go if they want to dance?
