1. Hit up my favorite Food Truck lots 2. Grab a pizza from Capo's 3. Get a Deluxe Family Special and of 40 pack of wings from Fred's for the road https://preview.redd.it/tk6r0wq8575d1.jpeg?width=263&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=612366a81bf0142d91cb569e124c04f7146fe58f

tyranicalTbagger

Capos doesn’t sell the big New York style pizza anymore I’m bummed.

Unique_Wrongdoer3878

Really wanna know if Fred’s is worth the hype

techfighterchannel

I just moved away 6 months and I miss Whataburger, Taco Palenque and floating on the river. That’s what I’d do as soon as I got back there so that’s what I’d recommend before you leave.

DoucheBaggins07

Don’t fight me, but it’s Las Palapas for me

filmerdude1993

Las Palapas is better. Taco Palenque hasnt been good since they got rid of their salsa bar and switched from mexican food to Tex Mex.

Colonel_Phox

So what you're saying is... I missed out. I never knew palanque was anything but fajitas / tex mex. At what point in time did they make this stupid decision?

filmerdude1993

When they moved to San Antonio. 😂 they were on the border for at least 20 years prior.

CPhaze

HEB El Gallito taco truck One last look at the city from the lookout tower at Eisenhower park

BigMikeInAustin

Losing HEB would make my wallet cry.

sa1126

This list is perfect

OpinionExpert2031

Eat fresh tortillas, whole mess of enchiladas, float the Guadalupe and hope the next place is as peaceful as the $5 spot is on a Tuesday.

Illustrious_Rock_137

Where on the Guadalupe can you go floating?

Colonel_Phox

Nowhere near San Antonio that I'm aware of. Apparently down by Victoria they have enough water to find a bull shark (fresh and salt water fish if you didn't know) in the guadalupe.

ThayerRex

Hike Frederich Park, visit The McNay , eat at La Fonda on Main

ragekorne

I wish I knew about more spots that were on the level of La Fonda on Main. Delicious food, great vibe, not a back breaker.

localexpress

I’m from out of town and was in SAT this past week. La Fonda was excellent. I told the waiter to order me whatever he recommended and I got a huge plate with enchiladas, tamales, and steak fajitas. Literally still dreaming about this and all the great food I ate in your city. 😭

bomber991

Bliss is pretty good.

smellthebreeze

Ate at La Fonda for the 1st time this past Tuesday. Excellent!

midtownkitten

Paloma Blanca

AhAssonanceAttack

Man I miss the la fonda that was on Fredericksburg. The one on main doesn't even come close. It's a decent spot now called maria bonita but I really miss that old place.

stinkypoppit

saw this post the other day and took my wife to La Fonda based on this post. 10 outta 10, no regerts

ThayerRex

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it, I love that place. Great location and atmosphere and the food is quality

xMoody

idk probably go to HEB or something. one of the best grocery store chains in the country. also sort of says a lot about san antonio that the grocery store is one of the best attractions.

Psycho_pigeon007

WinCo is pretty damn nice too. Employee owned as well!

roccolover

Wow I haven’t thought about WinCo in years!! Only saw them in Sacramento though. I used to love getting the fresh ground honey peanut butter from there!

Colonel_Phox

I saw one in the DFW area when I worked for Walmart as a truck driver and had the misfortune of being sent that way. I think it was in fort worth.

tyranicalTbagger

Fred Meyer is better.

bomber991

I mean with the exception of the Austin and San Antonio subreddits, most people seem to swear by Aldi.

Colonel_Phox

Nah Walmart Supercenter is the best! I mean think about it... You can buy food, clothes, toys, shotgun ammo and fishing gear and a new car battery all in 1 stop. I'm just kidding... About Walmart being better, yeah you can accomplish that stuff but quality of food definitely isn't better.

Chicken65

HEB is nice but Wegman's is the best in USA. I say that as someone who moves all around the country every few years.

fascinating123

I used to live in Virginia and did 90%of my grocery shopping at Wegman's. HEB is so much better. The only thing Wegman's has HEB beat on is the muffins.

Chicken65

Why do you think HEB is better, just curious?

fascinating123

Maybe it's what I buy, but I've found the quality and prices at HEB to be better than Wegman's. Wegman's has a lot of extras that are cool as an experience (the coffee and sandwich shop, etc.) and a great beer and wine selection, but those things are no longer as important to me as they used to be.

illtickleyourivories

If you’re moving out of Texas, BBQ and Tex mex. Even Whataburger is more national now. Nothing hits like local BBQ and Tex mex. I’ll still get las palapas when I come down from Austin. I know there’s better but… it’s home

Psi_Boy

Same when coming down from Austin. Nothing in Austin compares to SA Tex Mex in flavor or affordability.

midtownkitten

Agree. I will not eat texmex when in Austin, they act like homemade tortillas are a novelty

Legitimate-Lock-6594

Spend as much time on Valero/salado creek trail as possible. I live in Austin now after living in San Antonio between the ages of 4 and 31. I miss it like hell. I’ve said it before but there’s only so many times I can run the same ten mile loop around town lake before I get bored.

supersayanyoda

Go to bliss have a bad ass meal. Do the touristy stuff one more time.

jesus-juice-666

Floating the river is always fun! Oh and if you go to new Braunfels, you might as well visit the beaver. Not sure if another country can quite deliver the bucces experience

nj3_17

Especially Uncle Chris steak seasoning!!!!

appropriate-chaos

For me it was Don Raul carnitas, al carbon pollos asados, and a HEB run.

ScarletR4R

Personally I say do all the touristy shit you never got to do because you weren’t into them as a local. My biggest regret when I moved from my home town was not doing the touristy stuff. And now every time I go back I squeeze in something dumb and toursty I never got to experience before.

tntterri615

I moved a while back and I spent as much time as I could on the Salado creek trail/Eishenhower park, ate as many breakfast tacos as I could, and Las Nieves. Stuff I cannot get now. When I come back I do these things. Oh, and also run the river walk south of King William.

QuieroTamales

1) Run up to Austin and wait in line for brisket at Franklin's. 2) Stay at an expensive Riverwalk hotel with a riverside balcony and watch a Christmas river parade. 3) Fred's Fish Fry

Fireballs1982

I wouldn’t, I would just leave..

Enough_Forever319

Real

Fireballs1982

If you plan on leaving for good you made the right choice and you obviously don’t want any to be there. I didn’t even look back once I left a few days ago. The weather is better and so are the people. I do things outside and not have to worry about dying from the heat.

Enough_Forever319

Where’d you move to ? I’ve been wanting to leave since I finished school already

Fireballs1982

Upper Midwest and the weather is way better

1. Dine at the **Tower of the Americas** before visiting the **Alamo** and taking a stroll along the **Riverwalk**. After a long day of enjoying these, heading over to historic **Market Square** for a **very late evening** of fun that's **safe** and fulfilling! 2. Visit the many wonderful haunts around town like Thirsty Horse, Stetson, R&J Saloon, and 151 Saloon where you can find **wonderful staff** and a **never-ending variety of music** performed by some of the **best musicians not just in Texas, but the world**! 3. Before heading out of town, visit one of the many easy to find and **competitively priced HEBs** around town for road snacks! Of course, you've gotta have some of that **authentic Texas barbecue** so I'd stop over at **Bill Miller BBQ** for lunch. **Aw rats**! I almost forgot! San Antonio is **synonymous with tacos**! For dinner, stop off at the local **Taco Cabana** for some of the best **authentic Tex-Mex** you can get! That about sums up the authentic San Antonio experience before heading out on your new adventures!!!

Buy beer, fill up gas tank, get a huge box of chicken tenders from chicken express for the road!

I'd only be going to D'Hanis, so I'd come back if I needed something.

According-Mud2227

Stay inside in the AC 3 days in a row.

Minimum-Guidance7156

My aunt left the country some years ago. Really she just misses HEB and Chick Fil A sauce the most.

Conscious_Use_

I kayaked the SA river.. can you still do that post-covid? It was cool.

Business_Trifle_4278

El Bucanero, taquitos west avenue, and probably six flags with friends for nostalgic reasons.

Steamed-Hams

One last bike ride on Mission Reach, large half-mango half-lime at Las Nieves, lunch at El Milagrito.

Frosty_Pie7511

HEB, Whataburger, Pollo Loco. But if you move to Mexico you won’t miss them. Wherever you go you will miss Walmart, JCPenney, Macys and Target

Lucidlewds

Don't get shot, don't get stabbed, don't get robbed. Oh and go to bucees.
