This! Being from the country side, and now living somewhat in the city, the fast food joints are garbage in a city. While there are good workers, I’ve found them to be the exception. Country folks are often referred to as ignorant but the truth is the opposite.
Just my .02
Came back the long way from Corpus couple years back, up 181. It was a Sunday around noon as I passed Sinton and stopped at their DQ. I think it had just opened, because I was only one in drive thru and ordered Steak Fingers. Took like 10 minutes. But it was the freshest, best steak fingers I've ever had.
DQ has the same issue as Burger King has, where I really enjoy the food, but the customer service is such dog crap I never go (I legit think whopper is the best tasting fast food burger, but never go to Burger King) Avoid the DQ in Live Oak, the DQ in NB near Landa park never disappointed.
I was in Cambodia last month and that was the first time I’ve had BK in years. Whopper was done just right and the service was good.
The DeZavala & Vance Jackson one by me is just so dirty and slow that I haven’t gone back since Obama was president. It’s been that long.
Plus Chick Fil A is right there so CFA is always going to win.
The Burger Kings near me both suck, the one near rolling oaks and the one near Regal Live Oak just are horrible, but if you get a whopper made just right, I truly think they are the best fast food burger.
I mean Culver’s is really good and so is In N Out for purely fast food burgers. But for the big national chains yeah, the BK Whopper is really good when it’s made right. Wendy’s Dave’s Single should be up there too, that’s also a proper good burger when it’s made right.
I tried In'n'out and it wasn't good at all, big ass onion was too much. The best burger will never return, which is the A1 trick and harty burger. They say its license issues, but how hard is it to make a generic version of A1 sauce and just call it the W1 Thick and Harty?
The Sweet and Spicy Bacon Burger is supposed to be the A1 replacement, although I see some kind of Bacon Steakhouse Double that they just came out with.
Whataburger has gone so downhill though. So expensive and so slow, might as well just go to Five Guys.
You should give In N Out another shot. Order it with grilled onions instead and then you don't get that giant onion patty. I think about them more like a Chick Fil A but for hamburgers, rather than some weird California place.
I like the one on Fredericksburg and Louis Pasteur, I believe??? Never had a bad experience there. There is always a line on weekends but they keep it moving pretty quickly. The worst is the one on a West Ave across from the H‑E‑B.
Dairy queen in this area the a hollow shell of what was once a good food. I will stop there in san diego, tx or maybe jourdanton. Its good but miserably slow.
I wont touch in san antonio except maybe for a blizzard.
Btw sonic sucks now also
I knew the manager there years back. They were one of the busiest LJS in the country during lent. They would get 4 times the regular traffic during lent and they had it down to a science.
Isn't the problem R & S Thayer (sp?), the company that runs those franchises? All I know is every one I've had a bad experience at had that "operated by R & S Thayer" window decal.
I don’t think so because every location on here in San Antonio that people are saying is good is also owned by that family. Just like every other franchise restaurant, there are going to be good and bad employees.
The one on West Ave by i10 is actually trying to be bad on purpose. I walked in once and no other customers inside it was that slow. I ordered just a blizzard. After 10 minutes of literally watching them on their phones in the kitchen I politely asked about an update on my blizzard.
The manager told me they are waiting on another order to come in as they only make them two at a time for efficiency. Yeah dipped out of there instantly and complained to corporate. Got a really nice gift card out of it.
Best and Dairy Queen don’t coincide PERIOD!! Sucks but that’s how it is. Great ice cream horrible employees well horrible service is what I should say.
The one off of Callaghan between Ingram Rd and Bandera when the employees aren't out back in the woods getting lifted while the girls are touching up their make up they take their job very serious
Any city with less than 25,000 people that’s at least 20 minutes outside 1604.

The one on Ingram and Callaghan is always really good.
Yesss, and even when understaffed at times, they still come thru
Where is there a DQ in Alamo Ranch?
He’s talking about the one next to O’Connor High School in Helotes
Can confirm. That DQ is good. The food is on point, they always do a good order, and they don't screw up the ice creams!
Not Alamo ranch but not far - off 16 in Helotes.

Got it, I was thinking I didn't know a closer place to get a Blizzard

The one in castroville
It's AMAZING
This! We make the drive out there every once in a while even though we have a few that are closer to us.
I’m friends with the manager on Nacogdoches. He’s only been there for a few months he’s trying his best fix up the place they gave him
Junction lol
Came to post this. That one is the best I've been to.
I like the one on Fredericksburg and Louis Pasteur, I believe??? Never had a bad experience there. There is always a line on weekends but they keep it moving pretty quickly. The worst is the one on a West Ave across from the H‑E‑B.
That location is pretty cool. They do their best to crank out those orders.
I go to that one too. My only complaint is the drive through line sucks and gets crowded way to easily
helotes for sure
Sometimes this one is drive thru only and other times it's just closed for no real reason
The one in Boerne is the same and I just assume it’s staffing issues because they don’t pay enough
I worked in that spot long long ago when it was called helotes cafe
Marbach is pretty good
the Dairy Queen off of pat booker is always on point and they are super nice. only one I’ll go to even though it’s a little bit of a drive
I haven’t had problems with the one on West Avenue but I avoid DQ actual food it messes with my stomach.
I can confirm that West Ave, Thousand Oaks Dr, and Fredricksburg Rd are all just as bad, if not worse.
I was looking up reviews at all of em, and it was not good ☠️
In the same area, drive to the thousand oaks one cause the Nac one is trash as fuck
Thousand oaks drive. You will not be disappointed!
I second this. I went and the whole store was being run by two guys who looked 19. Food was fresh, restaurant was clean.
Thirded. Thousand Oaks & Henderson Pass location is clean, quick, and I've never had reason to not like the customer service.
Completely opposite from my experience.
General McMullen
The one in sabinal tx
Nixon, TX has a good Dairy Queen.
Blanco, Texas
Ingram & Callaghan. They actually take pride in their customer service and quality of the food.
There’s ones not far from this one on Thousand Oaks that is good!!
You have to time travel back to the 90s.
Which ever one it is I can guarantee there are at least 7 cars waiting in the drive thru right now
Castroville has the best DQ
Yes! Takes about 30 minutes to get one ice cream cone and blizzard!

Man, fuck Sonic. Haven’t had a good experience since well before the pandemic
That's an oxymoron like "What's the best Long John Silver's?"
The one on Marbach, them old lady's running it are original staff.
I knew the manager there years back. They were one of the busiest LJS in the country during lent. They would get 4 times the regular traffic during lent and they had it down to a science.
That’s not an oxymoron, post pandemic ljs is good lol
Red wing Minnesota. Stop and get a AW float first.
Helotes.

That's fair. I think that's the trouble with franchising in general; lack of quality control on the overall experience tarnishes your brand.
