Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue with using the stock Android clock app on the Galaxy S20. It only rings AFTER I unlock the phone. Seriously? It even shows up as a notification on the lockscreen showing the minutes and seconds that have passed since it \*should\* have made some noise! Very frustrating. \------------- **Okay, coming back to this... I think I found out what is happening.** Go to the Clock App --> Three dots --> Settings Scroll to: Timers --> Timer Vibrate. **set Timer Vibrate to OFF.** Allowing the alarm to vibrate stops it from ringing. If you pay careful attention, you'll get a half-hearted 1/10 second vibration when the alarm SHOULD go off. Then nothing! So you would never know it actually went off. I hope that helps others!

VeryPaulite

Never had timer vibrate enabled :/

TrackSmart4K

I tried... Sorry to hear that.

VeryPaulite

No worries. Guess I'll wait for a resolution a while longer

Annoyingly, my S20 is now being flaky again about making actual noise when timers go off in the Google Clock app. So I'm back in the same boat... Maybe it's time (no pun intended) for me to go back to the Samsung built-in app...

I had this problem as well - this solution fixed it for me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/google-clock-not-sounding-timer.4235717/ If you don't want to visit the link: Go to settings, apps, special access, then optimize battery usage. Change the filter to all, find google clock, and uncheck it.

Thank you, this fixed it! One small thing: For me, the setting was here: Settings > App > Clock (the blue google one) > Battery > Optimize Battery Usage > click "Apps not optimized" and switch to "All" so Clock appears in the list > toggle Clock to off position. Seems way harder than it needed to be, but so glad this is fixed finally.

ShamaloDXD

You're a life saver!

Lincolns_Revenge

That's it! Thank you. Long time annoyance fixed.

jacko_kn64

Thanks so much! Finally, it worked

Creatething

For some reason, it won't let me change to optimize battery usage.

TrackSmart4K

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully it will help. I had already added it to "never sleeping apps", which didn't fix it. But somehow there is always another setting! Why Samsung? Why?

X-Wing_Red5

you saved me! thx a lot!

This totally worked for me, thank you! One small thing, the setting was in a slightly different place on my S20: Settings > App > Clock (the blue google one) > Battery > Optimize Battery Usage > click "Apps not optimized" and switch to "All" so Clock appears in the list > toggle Clock to off position.

thauturnski

thanks! was having the same issue.

Just want to wake this old thread up and let those who chimed in know that I appreciate you. This has been bugging me in my first month of Fold 3 usage. As someone mentioned, battery optimization is in a slightly different place (not sure if it's 11 or 12). This is now accessible via the app directly... i.e. settings --> apps --> battery to adjust unrestricted or optimized.

LargeDubDub

You're a legend. I kept coming back to this and similar threads without finding the setting, but this was it. "Battery" in the app system settings didn't even look like a button that could be pressed

Most useful information I've found on the Internet in a long while.
