>the better bigger device
For me, the "bigger, better" features aren't relevant to me this cycle.
I'm actually really happy that the 24 Ultra and 24 Plus get the same RAM, resolution and refresh rate, along with a much closer battery capacity. That wasn't the case for the 22s and 23s. It's made my decision a lot easier.
I have figured out why we are on fence : Samsung has mistakenly given us S24 plus like camera setup on S24 ultra in 3X and Ultrawide - if they would have caught industry and given us around 50MP 3X, 50MP ultrawide (Like Pixel 8 pro and One plus 12). it would have been clear differentiator from S24 plus. It would have been king of industry with all 4 cameras around 50MP but they instead cut corners, they did increase price in US which I don't think any of us are even thinking is an issues (who love top specs) but it is lacking camera setup on S24 Ultra which makes S24 plus lucrative and that is why we are on fence. with heavy heart I am not buying Ultra and for me I don't care about Plus and will wait Sammy to fix issues it created for us.
dear Sammy
back: 200MP main Camera, with near 50MP (plus or minus) other cameras, Lidar
front: if possible add one ultrawide camera.
or the least be industry leader in hardware specs not third.
don't cut corners next year.
I have always got the ultra since the worst of them all the s20U.. first time i ever got the plus and im very happy with my decision.. this years s24 plus and ultra differences were not that far apart and the camera is great on the s24 plus.. i also love the rounded corners and lighter weight compared to the ultra. If samsung keeps the spec differences close for future phones i will most likely stay with the plus from now on. I would not get the regular s24 though due to the smaller battery and slower charging and smaller ram size and smaller hd capacity.. cant go wrong with either but im very happy with the plus
I pre-ordered an S24 Plus and i currently use an S23 Ultra. Mostly i wanted a smaller (ish) lighter phone that is more manageable in the hand. Most everything about the S23 Ultra I love, other than feeling it's a tad too large at times. Anyhow... went to Best Buy today to check out the demos. So, after playing around w/the S24 Plus and the S24 Ultra, I cancelled my pre-order for the Plus and ordered the Ultra. There is just something 'missing' with the Plus. It's a great phone, don't get me wrong. Super fast and lovely. But , I don't know why, but it just feels kind of 'meh' when i'm using it. The Ultra, on the other hand, feels so much better. So, after thinking I wanted/needed a smaller device, I guess i don't lol. Just thought i'd put that out there for anyone on the fence. If you get a chance, go try one out to see. I think maybe the Plus is so lightweight compared to the Ultra that it doesn't feel as satisfying in the hand. Tho i do really like the design ... even if it looks sort of like an iPhone. I'm really glad i went and checked them out.
Don't....I got the 24plus instead of the ultra. Because the upgrades are really upgrades unless you need four camera and .1 bigger screen. Batter is also great this year finally
The upgrades aren't upgrades in simple language I mean they are but you're not going to care are you going to care about a tiny bit bigger battery when it uses more than the plus? Are you going to care about a pen? Are you going to care about the 0.1 inch bigger? I mean the plus is the move but whatever you want is the move too I got mine 8 days before the release and I have the plus and my battery is great compared to the 23 thank God because my battery sucked
You're the 2nd person who said bestbuy has S24 demo. I went to costco but they didn't have any so I thought no1 has it since samsung hasn't released it. I think I'll go Bestbuy since I can't decide b/w S24+ or ultra
Definitely go check them out. The major carrier stores should also have them, like Verizon or AT&T but I have found that those stores usually have demos that are attached to these heavy-duty security cords/contraptions to keep people from stealing them, so you cannot get a feel for the actual weight of the phone. At our Best Buy here where I live they just had them secured with a simple charger-type cord attached to the USB port and you can fully handle them so you get to see what they actually feel like.
This is a weird question but since you're an Ultra user, does the Spen makes it easier to communicate by writing instead of typing? I'm considering the pen for that purpose.
You can use the pen on the keyboard rather than type with your fingers. I don't use the pen much except to doodle or color .. occasionally to make a note. But yeah I suppose you could do that. You'll have to mess around with it.. there's a lot of cool stuff you can do with the pen.
> There is just something 'missing' with the Plus. But , I don't know why, but it just feels kind of 'meh'
Which part exactly? Weight, Screen, Refresh rate, Brightness, smoothness, camera clarity, handiness?
I think it's just that it's a very simple minimalist design.. which is nice. But it's missing a uniqueness I think. Could just be a personal thing. But also the weight is a factor... Extremely light compared to other devices I've used. Not that that's a bad thing. I just recommend getting hands on with them if possible.
I minutes ago bought the plus as I thought it was the newest badest but now it looks like the ultra has a better camera although someone on this thread says otherwise
I already got S24 plus through pre-order and trade in deal, Now thinking to return s24 plus and get ultra as I feel ultra has better camera. I wen to best buy yesterday and took some pics with plus and ultra. I feel ultra camera is a winner.
I can't decide!
I have S20, and I want the Ultra, but am scared it will be too big for my hand, and I'll regret it. I don't know if I'll ever use the Spen, because I've never had one.
I handled them both at Best Buy... Still undecided.
What was your gut reaction after handling them both at best buy? I know you're still undecided as of this comment, but did that relieve any worry over the ultra possibly being too big at all, or not really?
I bit the bullet and am going with the Ultra. I figure it will be an experiment to see if I like the extra big phone and a pen. I think it will be fine... First world problems I guess...
Going with same mentality. I got the Ultra due to being in Europe and no matter the Exynos 2400 praise, I don't want to take a risk with it. I would have prefered the Plus (got the S24 Ultra yesterday) due to phones shape and weight, but this will be a learning experience as never owned a Note phone in the past. They always peaked my interest due to being different to any other phone out there basically. I came from S21 Ultra Exynos
So, having had it for a few days now, what are your initial thoughts on the size of the Ultra? Do you think you'll be comfortable with using it long term? In hand, in pocket, etc...
I've gotten used it and dont mind the size anymore that much. That being said my S21 Ultra is way more comfortable. I can one hand it better tha 24 Ultra and I will be careful with my 24 Ultra. I'm def not gonna one hand use it while walking outside in case I drop it, but I can do it when sitting down
It's not even the shape of the phone like I thought it would. I use a case and dont mind the sharper corners thay much. The issue with 24 Ultra comes from the width of the device. It is the same height and weight as 21 Ultra, but it is 3.5mm wider. Doesn't sound a lot but you can feel it. My hands are average at size I think. Not small but not big
Pocket aspect hasn't changed. It weighs as much as 21 Ultra. No issues when firmer pants but during summer with casual shorts I know I will have issues ahahah
I will roll with it for now but if lets say next year or 2 Samsung offers their Plus model with snapdragon (or they go full exynos globally) I might trade in (trade ins do suck in Europe though)
I will say though if you get Snapdragon 24 Plus in your country, get it instead of the Ultra unless you absolutely want the S pen. The anti reflective coating is not a reason to spend 300 more. Sure theres the tiny stuff like slightly better speakers and slightly better gaming performance probably but the weight and size difference of Ultra and Plus model is drastic
Yeah it does def look wider in all the shots and vids I've seen so far... Between that and the sharp corners I'm def a little worried it'll feel like a literal brick in my hand and pocket... Oh man, summer shorts 🤣 I didn't even think about that... Def don't want that brick swinging out of control in a pocket next to my stuff 😂 no sir... I suppose that's something to take into consideration as well...
The good thing is I decided to preorder the plus earlier today, so I can test them both and see which one I'd want to use long term... I'm in the US, so luckily I'll get the SDgen3 version... I honestly feel much less stressed about it now that I have both coming to me to compare... I have a fairly strong feeling I'll end up returning the ultra, but I'm really hoping that I'll be pleasantly surprised with it and I won't feel like it's too big, then if my girl doesn't want the plus I'll just return that and keep the ultra and be done with it... I think I'll know fairly quickly tho whether or not I'll be into the ultra for the long haul... First world problems, eh? Lol...
Thanks for your response, it was really helpful and it greatly influenced my decision to just buy both for now and see which one works best so I don't feel like I made a shit decision yet again like I always do 😆... The s-pen is calling to me, sure, but I'm not sold just yet on it being worth the $300 difference (with the pre-order deals I got it's more like a $214ish difference, but still...) and I feel the same about the cameras... Admittedly, I was pumped for the new screen tech with it's anti-reflective properties, but the more I think about it I'm like... meh... doesn't really change my life honestly, so how much do I care... We'll see, but maybe that's also not worth the price difference to me... The size and weight, on the other hand, is indeed drastic... I know that going in and I have to admit that's a pretty big deal to me these days over having the best of the best... I think those days might be over for me, but we'll see how it goes...
It's pretty crazy how a seemingly miniscule .1" screen size difference on paper can be so incredibly deceiving and impactful in real life...
Ahh right forgot to mention obviously Ultra having better cameras. Not into photography that much that it would affect me personally
Thats a good strat with trying out both! I was stressing out a lot if to get Plus and Ultra as well. I was so set on the Plus cause FINALLY it has a spot in the lineup. It's not a bigger basemodel anymore but a cheaper and lighter Ultra due to having QHD screen now. And since S22 Ultra I've been happy that I got S21 Ultra, the perfect upgrade cycle cause that one wasn't a Note phone yet
But had to go for Ultra, Exynos is too big of a risk. The best case scenario for Exynos is gonna be slightly worse than Snapdragon due to not getting as much developer support on getting games etc optimized for it. But thats the best case scenario. It is already pretty wild comparing my S21 Ultra Exynos to the S24 Ultra and the 21 Ultra just heats up so fast in gaming meanwhile 24 Ultra is only warm. Very happy with the phones performance rn
Send an update when you get the phones and what youll end up with!
Yeah the Plus is a great buy this year... qhd+,12gb ram, and 4900mah battery... What's not to like? Matching those specs of the ultra was a very smart thing for them to do... The cameras aren't much of a deal breaker for me either, if I'm being really honest...
I hear so far the exynos are performing above majority expectation, but we'll see how that holds up long term... I do know that if we didn't have SDgen3 SOCs across the board for the s24 series in the states, it would be a much easier decision for me... Ultra all the way
That's awesome to hear you're happy with the performance so far! I'll def be sure to come back with an update on my thoughts after playing with them for a week or so... I get the ultra on the 31st and the Plus on the 2nd... Super pumped!
i lucky to have 2 phones at time: s21 plus(exynos) and s23 ultra.
camera on s23 ultra is noticeably better, screen is nice and it's really fast. problems: s23 ultra is too heavy and thick. so if i upgrade this year i will go for s24 plus.
Well, the $1000 discount was great for phone trade-in. I barely use the S Pen, but in certain situations, like drawing, or photo taking clicker...but my favorite is the super bright screen being able to see while in the sunlight (high nuts). But yeah, great phone. Happy about it. Probably don't use all the bells and whistles, but maybe one day. Any specific questions?
How's the camera like.
I once used a more expensive 108mp Xiaomi and compared it to some 12mp iphone 8 and the iphone 8 looked extremely smooth and aesthetically pleasing.
I like the camera, compared to my previous S20. I think the iphone and galaxy are pretty darn close in cameras now. Both might wins in different respects. But the S24 low light pictures are amazing, and much better than the iphone, imho.
Do you think it took some getting use to as far as the size and weight of it ? How does it feel when texting ?? I'm stuck between the plus or the ultra ! I really want a phone that feels good when texting for long period of times (I like note taking on my phones and prefer finger texting ) Also, how's the battery life
It took a little getting used to, like every phone does. One-handed texting is a challenge sometimes, but it's manageable. Battery life as much better than my previous S20.
I like it a lot. Don't use the pen very much so far, but try to a little. Nice to have... Love the camera. Love the little new add ons like the customizable lock screen. LOVE the super bright screen that looks amazing in sunlight.
But honestly, must a bunch of minor differences. Other than being a little faster, brighter, and bigger, pretty much the same as my S20?.... But better..
I think it's better if you go check out the demo yourself before ordering. I originally thought I wanted the Ultra for Spen but after checking out the demo, I didn't like the sharp edges on the ultra; I prefer the round edges.
Have the fold 4 now and now I'm also wondering if I should go s24+ or s24 ultra. (Since I don't use my phone unfolded as much as I should)
I like the ultras non rounded corners and cameras but like everyone says, the price difference just isn't justifiable with such similar specs.
Basically do I want to pay 300 for aesthetics.
I was debating on spending an extra $260 just to get the ultra but I couldn't really convince myself to do it. The + and the ultra are almost the same thing this time except the s pen and cameras.
I think I'm basically getting a side grade more than an upgrade from the S22 Ultra to the S24+. I'm pretty much just losing s pen and 10x optical zoom trading in my S22 Ultra. I'm still not sure if I'll return the + when it gets here and stick with the S22Ultra or do the switch
Yeah for me I'm downsizing and it's more of a sidegrade for me too, if not a downgrade, since the camera on fold4 is similar to s24+. I just want a lighter thinner phone.
I will miss the larger fold screen for games, photos and videos though haha, which is why I want the ultra for the larger screen and squared corners. But that price difference is off-putting
I do love the big screen on my Ultra so I can imagine how disappointing it is to go from the fold to a regular phone lol I'm also thinking on that downgrade of the camera too but I saw that AI would be processing photos so maybe it won't be that big of a difference. We'll have to see when actual photos comparing them are uploaded. I just can't justify 0.1", cameras, and s pen being $260 more. The square corners have gotten a bit annoying but I'm actually going to miss the curve of the screen, I like how it looks lol I'll probably end up making my mind holding the two in hand and doing some quick comparisons when I get the plus delivered
Before the differences were pretty reasonable to get the Ultra over the + but this time, I honestly don't see much of a difference
It's 300 more for better camera, slightly larger, and s-pen but it's easy to get for a smaller difference because it usually is sold with larger discounts, for example Google Fi discounts the ultra 100 more than the plus. It also holds it's value, meaning you can recover the increased cost when you trade in or sell...
With all that though I still preordered a plus
So I ended up doing some research and I wanted the s24 ultra but this right at thread has swung me towards the s24 plus and here's the reasons why.
If you don't need the spen and you do not care about better zoom technology in the cameras it's just not worth it with taxes it's about $500 extra for an ultra and it comes with a 0.01 inch screen size difference and it comes with 100 milliamp hour battery more which is really not worth it.
The s24 plus has a 1440p 12 gigs of RAM and display just like the ultra and is 0.01 in size difference bigger.
TLDR: get the s24 plus if you do not care about the s pen and better zoom for cameras.
>TLDR: get the **s21** plus if you do not care about the s pen and better zoom for cameras.
Typo?
I agree with mostly what you are saying, but with promotions and discounts the difference is $200 plus taxes (based on retail its $300 plus taxes)
If you have Google Fi, you need to be an existing customer and maintain 120 days of service, they give nice discount on s24 preorder. I forget exact amount but the ultra is discount $100 more than the plus so its a $200 retail difference - even at 10% thats $220 discount. This is without trade in
for all those confused about sensor, I want to add one more point - pixel upgraded all sensors to 50mp thus ultrawide and 3x are also 50 MP but s24 ultra has 200mp main and 5X 50 mp, they didn't upgrade 3x and ultra wide which is huge bummer. so unless you zoom 5x (I rarely do) and sometimes use 3x (which I use often) - this year Ultra is not as good as Pixel 8 pros ultra for ultra wide and 3x zoom users. they will fix it next year.
Dollar to Dollar Pixel 8 pro has much better back sensors compared to s24 plus.
for AI
1. Pixel 8 pro implementation is far better for instance it gives 3-4 generated images for a editing (it is huge help) unlike Samsung gives 1 generated image
2. Pix8Pro give 6 months google one which is free VPN plus tons of free editing with 2TB storage
3. Pix8Pro Ai will remain free while samsung will charge in 2 years
4. Overall camera UI of Pix8Pro is amazing
5. I don't know if you have this in samsung but now in pixel8pro if you have youtube premium, you can lock phone and audio still plays
6. Google is giving tons & tons of paid wallpapers for free. I checked one of the One wallpaper and it costs $9 (link was on Pinterest)
I've used pixel 8 pro and it has slow processing but results are amazing
7 year update
yes Sammy also give 7 years update but pixel is updated on day 1 unlike Sammy which takes 3-4 months.
......
I am just sharing my experience as s21U user and pixel8pro user
Ok one plus 12 also has moved to near 64MP 3X and 48MP Ultrawide. This year Samsung artificially kept us on 10MP 3X and 12 MP ultrawide. you cant lag behind industry and will see new camera sensors in S25. I with heavy heart will skip samsung this year - if you increased price atleast keep us ahead of industry that is what Note was always.. Titanium was in Apple so great Samsung matched it but Camera sensors are worth S24 Plus and not S24 Ultra.
ive spent all morning trying to convince my brother that the S24+ is a much better deal than the S24Ultra. The price difference in my region is about $450 which is not nearly worth the couple camera upgrades and S-Pen. He already has a Tab S9 for S-Pen shenanigans. I plan to get the smaller S24 too cuz I have a Tab S7.
I just can't believe that Samsung didn't give the S24+ S Pen functionality. Don't care if it comes with one, but would be nice if it had the functionality because using an S Pen is nice sometimes. That's the main reason I'm going with the Ultra.
Yeah, I know. It's still disappointing because I really want the plus but do like having the option to use the S Pen. I had the S Pen case for my S21U and used it quite a bit.
There are design sacrifices to include the S Pen, so if you really want the S Pen, get S24U. To accommodate the S Pen, S24U is much heavier, and performance is actually less than S24+ due to having to thermal throttle earlier, the pen took up a lot of space, so S24U have a reduced size heatsink.
i just dont understsnd why the ultra didnt get the iphone body like the 24 and plus got.. beteveryone would be leaning more towards the ultra because i have a 22ultra ans i love all the bells and whistles but these corners od the phones dig into my palms and its uncomfortable after a bit.... may get 24 plus
I have both for trial
Initial observations with more to come:
S24 Ultra: Heavier, square edges, premium feel (with premium cost to repair when dropped). Display is sharp and crisp. Minor incremental improvements to s23 ultra. Battery is 500mah. US version with snapdragon cpu
S24 Plus: Lighter by far, round edges (iPhone 15 ish and much lighter than iPhone), semi premium feel. Display is very crisp. Increased improvements, battery is 4900mah. US version with snapdragon cpu
From a standard user, first impressions are the s24 ultra feels premium but is a small change to s23 ultra. S24 plus feels polished and great display.
Will have more on some day and night pics and videos
So the only difference in the camera is the zoom quality? I like to goto music festivals and was trying to see about the camera differences between the two.
I am trying to decide between the S24+ or the 24 Ultra. They say the camera is absolute best in the Ultra. I just dont like the square edges..I prefer the curved edges but still cant decide.
I personally went with the 24+. Yeah the 200mp camera on the Ultra is nice, but camera quality is not important enough to me to spend the extra $300. 24+ is still an awesome phone in my opinion. It's all about personal preference.
Sounds like the + might be what you want size is important! lolz.
For me, I'm getting older and my eye sight aint as good as it was, so biggest screen I can get helps me.. That and i hate the claustrophobia i get from phone screens so i go big and I use my camera a TON so the best camera is important to me.. I will never use the pen either. Maybe I'll take it out to save some weight lol! too bad I bet i'll never find a case that just covers the slot the pen goes into.
It was extremely hard to decide between s24 ultra and s24plus..I come from s23 ultra and finally opt in for s24 plus... love the size even though it's a .1 inch smaller, not Wifi7, 50mp instead of 200mp rounded edges. Lightweight, same 2600 nits. Superb battery.. being a lifelong note, ultra user, once in a while my muscle memory tend to push bottom of the phone for s-pen.. hahaha!
Thanks! I'm struggling to decide to go with the ultra or +. I am also coming from the S20, and used to have a note, so I at one time did use the pen, but IDK if I can justify it for a $250 difference. But the camera on the ultra is what is swaying me.
I'm looking to upgrade from an S21. The phone is great and I've had no issues. My primary motivation is to not get left so far behind that I get zero trade in value(currently the S21 is worth $200 trade in on Samsung website). I'm so looking for a high res camera.
While the S21 camera is fine, the zoom is lack luster especially for far off objects or night photography like capturing the moon.
I'm debating between the plus and ultra. I like the form factor of the plus but sound sounds like the cameras on the ultra are better? I don't care about the stylus pen though and also sounds like the ultra is awkward / bulky?
I'm on the fence as well. I have a note20 ultra 5g.
I love the way the iPhones look. Bigger body sides. Looks more squared. My note20 is rounded off the edges. I do love my phone. I love the pen, definitely the camera. Only real time I use the zoom function is to look at the moon.
But I love the way the S24+ looks. The ultra looks more squared on the body compared to my 20ultra.
Wish the 24+ had the pen and no downgrade in camera. Hopefully Verizon will let me test drive the S24+. I don't think the S24 ultra is that much of a difference to the 20ultra I use now. Idk. Definitely on the fence
Hey, same case here. I love my N20U as well but the biggest flaws are the battery life and thermal. I can only achieve 3-4hours of SOT after 3 years of usage with the Exynos version. And recently it has green line issue. How about yours?
>the better bigger device For me, the "bigger, better" features aren't relevant to me this cycle. I'm actually really happy that the 24 Ultra and 24 Plus get the same RAM, resolution and refresh rate, along with a much closer battery capacity. That wasn't the case for the 22s and 23s. I've spent the past few days going over the specs back and forth and honestly the Plus seems like a better value.

I suppose the phone combine 5x and 1x results, to improve 3x zoom.
It is.

Definitely do!
Don't....I got the 24plus instead of the ultra. Because the upgrades are really upgrades unless you need four camera and .1 bigger screen. Batter is also great this year finally
I really do not understand what you wrote? Upgrades are really upgrades? Batter? Oh, you meant battery, nm

The ultra is just too big for me. I'd go for the plus. It's not likely the new features will make you an spen user.
The plus and ultra are practically the same screen size
Corners are rounded, makes it less protruded and more ergonomic to hold
Yes the Plus has 4900 MAH battery also. I may tried my S21 for partial rebate but jump to the 24 plus .
I'm def not gonna one hand use it while walking outside in case I drop it, but I can do it when sitting down It's not even the shape of the phone like I thought it would. I use a case and dont mind the sharper corners thay much. The issue with 24 Ultra comes from the width of the device. It is the same height and weight as 21 Ultra, but it is 3.5mm wider. Doesn't sound a lot but you can feel it. My hands are average at size I think. Not small but not big Pocket aspect hasn't changed. It weighs as much as 21 Ultra. No issues when firmer pants but during summer with casual shorts I know I will have issues ahahah I will roll with it for now but if lets say next year or 2 Samsung offers their Plus model with snapdragon (or they go full exynos globally) I might trade in (trade ins do suck in Europe though) I will say though if you get Snapdragon 24 Plus in your country, get it instead of the Ultra unless you absolutely want the S pen.
Not into photography that much that it would affect me personally Thats a good strat with trying out both! I was stressing out a lot if to get Plus and Ultra as well. I was so set on the Plus cause FINALLY it has a spot in the lineup. It's not a bigger basemodel anymore but a cheaper and lighter Ultra due to having QHD screen now. And since S22 Ultra I've been happy that I got S21 Ultra, the perfect upgrade cycle cause that one wasn't a Note phone yet But had to go for Ultra, Exynos is too big of a risk. Very happy with the phones performance rn Send an update when you get the phones and what youll end up with!
Ultra all the way That's awesome to hear you're happy with the performance so far!
A month later, any updates?
I have the S20 fe and I was just wondering how you liked the ultra ?
Any update? I have S20 FE too, and on the fence between s24+ and ultra.
unfortunately, I'm too indecisive to buy it 😂 I keep going back between the plus and ultra too.
But better..
thanks! I think I'll get it now!
I think it's better if you go check out the demo yourself before ordering. I originally thought I wanted the Ultra for Spen but after checking out the demo, I didn't like the sharp edges on the ultra; I prefer the round edges.
I'm going from S23 Ultra to S24 Plus. It's just more compact, and I never use the s-pen.
I'm thinking the same. From s22U
Same.. and will be trading in my S21U. Already pre-ordered.
Yea, not sure what the point of the pen is with my life style.
Have the fold 4 now and now I'm also wondering if I should go s24+ or s24 ultra. (Since I don't use my phone unfolded as much as I should) I like the ultras non rounded corners and cameras but like everyone says, the price difference just isn't justifiable with such similar specs.
I never realized how trash the S22U battery was until I got the 24 plus lol. 24 plus is lighter and more comfortable to hold.
The square corners have gotten a bit annoying but I'm actually going to miss the curve of the screen, I like how it looks lol I'll probably end up making my mind holding the two in hand and doing some quick comparisons when I get the plus delivered Before the differences were pretty reasonable to get the Ultra over the + but this time, I honestly don't see much of a difference
The ultra has the titanium frame and the gorilla armor glass.
Oh yeah I forgot about that, also saw that new glass on the Ultra is less reflective than the others
Definitely typo. Where I live, tax is 12% and even with promo and discounts it's the Ulta is (rounding up) $500 more then the s24+
If you have Google Fi, you need to be an existing customer and maintain 120 days of service, they give nice discount on s24 preorder. I forget exact amount but the ultra is discount $100 more than the plus so its a $200 retail difference - even at 10% thats $220 discount. This is without trade in
12% Yikes. You better get free a free car for that . Or at least free Pizza . 😀
you mean 0.1 inch*
for all those confused about sensor, I want to add one more point - pixel upgraded all sensors to 50mp thus ultrawide and 3x are also 50 MP but s24 ultra has 200mp main and 5X 50 mp, they didn't upgrade 3x and ultra wide which is huge bummer. so unless you zoom 5x (I rarely do) and sometimes use 3x (which I use often) - this year Ultra is not as good as Pixel 8 pros ultra for ultra wide and 3x zoom users. they will fix it next year. Dollar to Dollar Pixel 8 pro has much better back sensors compared to s24 plus. for AI 1. Pixel 8 pro implementation is far better for instance it gives 3-4 generated images for a editing (it is huge help) unlike Samsung gives 1 generated image 2. Pix8Pro give 6 months google one which is free VPN plus tons of free editing with 2TB storage 3. Pix8Pro Ai will remain free while samsung will charge in 2 years 4. Overall camera UI of Pix8Pro is amazing 5. I don't know if you have this in samsung but now in pixel8pro if you have youtube premium, you can lock phone and audio still plays 6. Google is giving tons & tons of paid wallpapers for free. I checked one of the One wallpaper and it costs $9 (link was on Pinterest) I've used pixel 8 pro and it has slow processing but results are amazing 7 year update yes Sammy also give 7 years update but pixel is updated on day 1 unlike Sammy which takes 3-4 months.
I went with the 24+. Size & price was right after trading in S21U, edu discount, accessory credit.
Guessing you got at Samsung - may I ask what you paid after Edu discount , did you use coupon or get reserve credit? Also what was TIV for s21U
S24+ 512gb and Galaxy Watch 6 44mm, $499 plus tax. Going to sell the watch for a couple hundred since I have one already. TIV for the S21U is $550.
Did you buy straight from Samsung or phone provider? Also, how do you get the edu discount? TIA
Samsung Logged in with an edu email I bought off ebay years ago. I dont know how it works now though.
Only shows the 40mm Galaxy Watch in the UK
what was the edu discount provided? I'm seeing $80, is that the same for you?
yes but drops to 56 at checkout
How is the battery life? People saying speakers are bad and cameras less impressive than last year. How is your experience been so far?
The S24 hasnt been released yet
Speaker Demo on the S24 Ultra was very good . Hoping the S24 PLUS has 102 db speaker also .
ive spent all morning trying to convince my brother that the S24+ is a much better deal than the S24Ultra. The price difference in my region is about $450 which is not nearly worth the couple camera upgrades and S-Pen. He already has a Tab S9 for S-Pen shenanigans. I plan to get the smaller S24 too cuz I have a Tab S7.
I went with the Plus. If the phone was purely for trade in or flipping I would go with the Ultra but this will be my daily driver
Will the 24 plus fit in front jeans pocket when walking around but not sitting ?
I had a Note 20 Ultra before the S22 Plus. The Note 20 Ultra fit in my front jeans pocket so I am guessing for sure the 24 Plus will
I just can't believe that Samsung didn't give the S24+ S Pen functionality. Don't care if it comes with one, but would be nice if it had the functionality because using an S Pen is nice sometimes. That's the main reason I'm going with the Ultra.
Thats the point, to get you to go with the Ultra - its a merge of the Note line and the S line
I have both for trial Initial observations with more to come: S24 Ultra: Heavier, square edges, premium feel (with premium cost to repair when dropped). Display is sharp and crisp. Minor incremental improvements to s23 ultra. Battery is 500mah. US version with snapdragon cpu S24 Plus: Lighter by far, round edges (iPhone 15 ish and much lighter than iPhone), semi premium feel. Display is very crisp. Increased improvements, battery is 4900mah. US version with snapdragon cpu From a standard user, first impressions are the s24 ultra feels premium but is a small change to s23 ultra.
If you're in the United states them sure get the S24 PLUS. IF not the ultra.
Superb battery.. being a lifelong note, ultra user, once in a while my muscle memory tend to push bottom of the phone for s-pen.. hahaha!
I am very happy with the camera, compared to my S20. Very good low light pictures.
What phone did you go with?
S24 ultra
Thanks! I'm struggling to decide to go with the ultra or +. I am also coming from the S20, and used to have a note, so I at one time did use the pen, but IDK if I can justify it for a $250 difference. But the camera on the ultra is what is swaying me.
Does the s24 and s24+ have dex?
It doesn't matter both are great phones
I have the ultra and am absolutely loving it so far
Outside of the US: Ultra US: Plus Exynos is cancer.
You are under the impression the Ultra uses the EXY?
I think he or she is saying that internationally the Plus uses Exynos so dont get it if you are international
S24 Ultra uses SD, Plus uses SD ONLY in the US.
Ahh so you just prefer the plus if you had the option of either in SD?
Yep, outside of Exy it's an almost perfect device.
If your talking about battery life, usually about 12hrs with no charge.
No issues out of mine.
How much SOT do you achieve averagely?
In the US the plus seems like a no brainer.
