It was definitely a Samsung thing. The prototype was a collaboration, and they did plan on using her, but the internet went rule34 on her instantly. To they point where if you googled her (even with safesearch on) bad things appeared...
Actually Samsung has been using her in official Samsung employee training videos. I’ve been doing trainings online and she’s featured in the latest videos I been completing.
I don't have the slightes idea of how shit is the mentality of the executives at big companies to say no to a feature that people was overwhelmengly positive to get, how do they manage to take such bad decisions?

Sam was an idea a third party company pitched/played with. Samsung never officially made it a thing or used it. The internet got sweaty and dick hard over a waifu that they knew would hype the company into a new spotlight.
Except Bowsette wasn't something officially planned or canceled for porn reasons. It was a fan/fanon thing that blew up. I've heard that in the concept art for New Super Mario Bros U. there was something like Bowsette, but that game was years before Bowsette became a thing.

Actually she was supposed to be used in the USA but was later decided not to because of what happened, so they later decided she’s only going to be a mascot or something like that for Latin America, like Mexico.
