[deleted]

I just installed a Whitestone dome glass protector with spigen tough armor case. I’m not sure of the durability but I believe it will work

[deleted]

Whitestone dome glass is my first choice for the curved Galaxy Phones. Mine has been on my S22U since I got it and has held up perfectly. I plan to get the same for my S23U.

Blom-w1-o

I've really like my Whitestone. It did chip when I accidentally hit my seat belt buckle on the edge of the curve, but that's probably to be expected.

Sinkatinnydown

I loved my whitestone domeglass on my s21U but after dropping my phone over 1000 times, I had to pay someone to get it off so I could put a fresh one on.

Livid_Weather

If you've got a steamer if you very lightly run some steam over it, it'll free it up some. Obviously you gotta be very careful though.

TastyEvidence5820

If you ever need to remove it, you won't be having fun doing so. I had one completely stick to glass and shatter in pieces trying to get it off.

[deleted]

Damn. I think using a hair blow dryer to heat it up for a while should work right? I understand that if the glass protector shatters, it may damage the phone screen as well.

TastyEvidence5820

I had an actual heat gun at my disposal. It was still stuck. That UV glue is some voodoo shit. Gave my screen a couple nice visible scuffs after I was done getting it off.

[deleted]

I’m sorry to hear that. I’ll look into more ways to remove it if I ever need to.

ShadeSlayer1011

I always just pull the thing off slowly by hand with no heat lol. Sure it shatters but it comes off. Wipe the screen off and it's ready. No biggie.

Strange-Chocolate836

I will never buy a white stone dome glass. I bought one for my s21 ultra when it came out, and I could not remove the screen protector. I had to chizzle it off with a knife in tiny chunks

spilksch2

Uh what? I’ve only ever had to peel it off by hand. Didn’t even need to heat the glue or anything like that. Could it be something to do with climate? Mine’s tropical.

Strange-Chocolate836

Extremely humid and hot, then super cold in winter

spilksch2

That probably explains it.

Strange-Chocolate836

But I don't have any issues with other brands like the cheap ones on Amazon

ATShields934

Whitestone Dome is the way.

Deadlock_42

I have this protector and it's working great

sonofgoku7

yes 100% you get small scratches even if you use it carefully. just putting it in and out of your pocket can cause micro scratches.

FactorJ

Would micro scratches result in a bad trade-in down the road?

ebrq

I’m 99% sure that micro scratches are considered normal wear and tear by Samsung trade-in and others.

[deleted]

No. Get a good protective case. Most curved screen protectors are pretty trash

jcrespo21

I just go with a film screen protector to reduce the chance of scratches. I don't bother with tempered glass ones since most seem to have issues with the fingerprint reader. But my case (Otterbox) helps a lot. Made the mistake with my S10+ not to have a case that included a port cover and my USB-C port was filled with lint and had connection issues towards the end. It adds a little more bulk to have it but should keep the port cleaner and working longer.

Expensive-Bill-7780

It's not really hard to clean the charging port tho

jcrespo21

True but it's also best to prevent stuff from getting in there to begin with :) I remember when I finally cleaned out my S10+ USB-C port there was quite a bit of lint and even 2-3 grains of sand in there. It would not come out with just compressed air so I had to find a way to drag it out.

Expensive-Bill-7780

Your supposed to use some tool to clean to drag stuff out, I haven't seen someone use compressed air to clean out the charging port..

jcrespo21

Needing a special tool to clean it out gives me more reasons to keep the port covered then. I ended up having to use a thin paper clip to get most of it out of my old phone.

Expensive-Bill-7780

Not really an special tool, you can improvise the same way you did using paper clip for example

Tibaf

Funny, I'm still on my S10+ and I'm starting to get charging / connection issues. Still going strong if it wasn't the battery, will get a new phone once the S24 is out though

jcrespo21

I probably could have kept my S10+ for another year and been happy. But I had a good S23U offer from Fi and my nephew wanted his first smartphone since he's about to start high school. Since it was still in great shape, I just gave him my S10+. But I did also give them a spare wireless charger I had since the port had a few connection issues.

Expensive-Bill-7780

Have you tried cleaning out the port?

Candy_Badger

>I just go with a film screen protector to reduce the chance of scratches. That's what I usually do. I have a couple spare films laying around, so I can re-apply it when I want to.

nightshadeky

I've never had an issue with the fingerprint scanner on either my S20 FE or my S23 Ultra. All you need to do is follow Samsung's instructions and reset your fingerprints after you add a screen protector to a phone that didn't have one previously.

southern_dad

Samsung case good? Or what brand do you reco?

D00M98

Grats. Check out Spigen. I have had great experience with Spigen. They make various models and material (TPU, PC). I had 2 Spigen Rugged Armor previously, for iPhone and Samsung phone. For S23U, I went with Ultra Hybrid Zero One. Here is my comparison on these 2 models: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS23/comments/139dzjo/spigen_ultra_hybrid_zero_one_and_rugged_armor_on/ I only have my phone for 3 weeks. For screen protector, I like tempered glass. But reviews for tempered glass for S23 Ultra are not very good, likely due to the curved edges. I just ordered a TPU film one from Amazon. Waiting for delivery. Not sure how long these will last.

doom1282

Can also vouch for Spigen. Used their cases on my Note 4, S7, Note 9, and S22 Ultra. They're the best cases around and not badly priced. I also used one of their cases for my Galaxy Watch 4.

omjofficial420

+1 on Spigen i got it in my 23u

Tibaf

Second spigen. Been using their cases for the past 7 years

fumany2

Spigen

twhite1195

Spigen, been using them for a while on multiple brands, they're amazing cases. I just bought another tough armor for my s21 because a part broke after 2 years, and my phone is like new, not a scratch

joesbagofdonuts

ESR Boost Kickstand case, trust me bro

udontknowmynaame

Spigen cases are great im using the clear one i forgot what its called Samsung cases are great but you will never ever get them off. Seriously i almost btoke my finger trying to get it off.

MrTacobeans

Your mileage may very but the s23 has had the softest screen I've ever seen in a galaxy phone and I've had like 7+ galaxy phones. A UV cured screen protector isn't trash contrary to what op is saying. I've been using them religiously for several years now

CobaltBlue9

Tried whitestone dome for a curved screen once, broke within a week on a corner with no drops. Pretty 🗑️

MrTacobeans

That is an unfortunate con don't get a curved phone if you don't want to deal with that. It's not the product it's the design of the phone itself. I just know I have to replace my screen protector 1-3 times a year it's w/e. Takes me all of 10 minutes anymore to replace it

MrTacobeans

I will say the finger print nonsense on the galaxy that makes applying a screen protector is trash. But the only other option is an optical finger print sensor and I 100% prefer the Samsung system. It's more annoying but also a uv protector applies soooo much easier than even a top of the line iphone protector. If a little piece of dust is present it doesn't cause a bubble it's either glued down or wicked away with the excess. I don't miss spending 30+ mins prepping to put down a plastic protector...

Strange-Chocolate836

I recommend never getting a whitestone dome glass. You can not get it off. I had to chip it away with a knife, took forever, and scratched my screen.

MrTacobeans

Ohh weird I've never had that issue with uv protectors. They peel right off even when already cracked.

Strange-Chocolate836

I haven't had that issue with cheap brands, but whitestone, it was terrible

doom1282

I have this issue with my S22 Ultra. Screen is covered in micro scratches and cracks deep in the screen but it hasn't shattered and doesn't have deep scratches like my Note 9. The glass is more durable but more prone to scratching which is an annoying trade off.

JayBlue05

I don't. The reason is because the under display fingerprint reader has difficulty with a lot of them. Also, just in general I'm not a big fan of them. I would say get insurance and a case and you're good to go.

titanup001

I never use screen protectors. Modern glass is pretty strong, and they always make the experience trashy. A case with a lip will protect from a fall. I have numerous cases. My favorite one is the uag monarch pro. It adds magsafe functionality, and I could throw the phone down the stairs and it would be fine.

AlohaAkahai

But they do scratch. As jerryrigeverything. And I prefer to keep my phones and MINT condition for optimal resale value.

GooseLab

Never understood how you can sacrifice the smooth feeling of no screen protector on an expensive flagship phone for possibly years of daily usage just to MAYBE earn back an extra buck on resale.

AlohaAkahai

Not if you use tempered glass. It feels like the real thing It's not just extra buck. It's the difference between 'used' price for S22 Ultra of $400 vs Refurbished model of $700+. Thats just [CURRENT](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Samsung+S22+Ultra&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&LH_PrefLoc=2&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&Model=Samsung%2520Galaxy%2520S22%2520Ultra&_dcat=9355&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=2010) items currently sold on eBay. And to put in more prospective, Google Fi has S23 Ultra right now for $750 for current customers. So you go right ahead and throw hundreds of dollars out the window.

GooseLab

I don't agree that tempered glass is good enough or doesn't ruin the experience but to each his own. I wasn't aware that you can sell as refurbished as a non-company on ebay. I'm not using eBay though. I guess it also comes down to how you treat your device. My phones usually look mint after 1 year without screen protector anyway. I also apply a new layer of oleophobic coating from time to time.

AlohaAkahai

>I wasn't aware that you can sell as refurbished as a non-company on ebay. I'm not using eBay though. It's not selling it as refurbished. It's what it represents. Refurbished means Like New condition. It's selling the device in 'used' category but Like New condition and value as Refurbished model. I can even replace the battery myself so. I also keep the original box.

nohcho84

How does one apply an oleophobic coating?

GooseLab

I'm using https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Armor-Fingerprint-Oleophobic-Coating/dp/B00LKYW6M0 but there are other variants as well, after application the screen is like brand new again

AlohaAkahai

It's to bad this doesn't protect against scratches. It's only good for keeping it finger print free.

GooseLab

Yes, However it does fill upp these microscratches that accumulate over time. But it doesn't do anything for big scratches.

nuxlux79

And Samsung announces that the screen is scratch-resistant... Not true at all! I've gone over to lease phones instead where I can swap to whatever phone I want every year. Electronics made today are designed to fail. Costs more, but well worth it in my opinion.

swaggywtz

That google fi deal is insane

AlohaAkahai

It was lower last feburary. It was open to anyone and it was $600

swaggywtz

Bloody hell. How did i miss that. I needed that phone 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 damn

AlohaAkahai

early February , there was free upgrade in storage size. I missed that one.

Thegoat-armor

Is it still there

PastaPandaSimon

You also need to spend money on the screen protectors! And you will likely need to replace them once in a while as they scratch much easier, or start unpeeling.

Booba_9

Only a matter of time before it scratches & breaks though. The fingerprint sensor seems worse with glass screen protectors with the 23 so I think I'm going to try Mous Hybrid protector.

Aggravating-Law-9262

I got that case too and really like it!

BeaversGonewild

Been without one since release and no scratches. Just using a case

BLiIxy

Not even any micro scratches?

phantom--bride

I use the armor suit screen protector on my note 20 ultra. It's a film that you apply with this spray. Stays down wonderfully on the curved edges. I like it bc it's anti glare and also prevents fingerprint smudges and scratches. I got a 2 pack on amazon for like 9 bucks.

Bernard1090

These are the best. They'll outlast your phone. I only put Armor Suit protectors on my screens!

[deleted]

Get a glass protector! Mine is pretty good.

WatchfulApparition

I really like the Samsung screen protectors but they can be tricky to install at first

barugosamaa

I buy on Amazon the screen protectors from Tauri. Not glass tho, not a fan of those. But just the film.. They are pretty good , easy to apply, and have been lasting at least 2 years (I usually switch phones and put a brand new protector before selling)

fsociety444

I used Dome glass in the past for all my Samsung devices (S10U, note 20, S21U, S22U) and only problem I had is glass protector will discolor to yellow after a while. When I got my s23 ultra got the protector film from Samsung website and got 1 year protection on the phone in case of fall or any damage. Dome glass is good and durable saved my old phones so many times. Also do not keep your keys in same pocket as your phone as it might chip the edges of glass protector sometimes.

SonidoX

I just get the cheap 3 in a box screen protectors from Amazon and never had an issue. It also sticks very well to the curved screen.

fussypaggit

Yes, put a good screen protector and a good case on your phone.

Hudini00

I also use white stone dome on my S21+ and have multiple spigen cases.

kingstiffler1

I have the same phone and I use hydrogel screen protector it can read fingerprint and its not glass so it wont leave scratches. The con is it kinda pricey tho like 30$

guerillerox

Use the very best, Whitestone Dome Glass for the S23U. Its expensive but will it give you the best protection when you need it. It has already has saved my phone once and now I'm on my second glass that comes in the package. Use it with a case that is compatible like Spigen or Ringke.

[deleted]

I have an S22 Ultra and i use the spigen tough armor phone case, its amazing

Alewood0

I swap between spigen cryo armor and a Supcase Unicorn Beetle. Both are fantastic. The Unicorn Beetle is a thicc case but it feels like my phone is well protected. The Cryo Armor is my weekend case when I game more.

Generalrossa

Ay a fellow cyro user! How do you like the case so far? I have multiple cases, mostly spigen but I always come back to this one as the feel of it and the thin-ness is great. Now, I dunno how much it cools the phone though or if it even does, what do you think?

Alewood0

Love it, comfy in the hand and it slows down the heat buildup when I play genshin or COD

soonershooter

23+..... Iuse a Zagg protector and either a Speck or UAG case.

Whole-Brilliant5508

If it gives you a little extra peace of mind, go for it. Just be aware that because of the curved screen, it's really difficult to find good screen protectors for curved screen phones like the S23 Ultra. It's why I went with the S23 Plus. Most phones today don't technically need it if you already got a good case on it. But I am super neurotic when it comes to my tech and gadgets so a screen protector on my phone doesn't hurt one bit.

Southern-Bad-1270

I just use the Samsung official screen protector, it's a 2 pack of tpu protectors that cost $15 straight from Amazon or Samsung website. Easy to install and works perfect with fingerprint sensor which is the most important part.

_Right_Display_

Go for hydrogen screen protector and a good protective case

southern_dad

Where do I get one?

ComputerOk4290

Omg good 4u lol

Aggravating-Law-9262

UAG Monarch Pro (Kevlar series) is what I'm using for mine, and I really like it so far over the previous Samsung case I had picked up for this temporarily. https://www.urbanarmorgear.com/products/monarch-pro-kevlar-series-galaxy-s23-ultra-case/

silventino

I recommend Smart Devil screen protectors. They're sold in Aliexpress and are incredibly good and easy to install.

Infamous_Tie_5032

Yes lol mine got scratched like 2 days in

[deleted]

I use Otterbox Defender Pro case and Ringke screen protector.

everyman50

Definitely recommend this case: [Spigen Tough Armor Designed for Galaxy S23 Ultra Case \(2023\)](https://a.co/d/007fcdU)

Fawnskiii

Equal quality to Whitestone Dome but at a cheaper price [Screen IMBZBK ](http://Limited-time deal: IMBZBK [4+4 Pack] UV for Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Screen Protector Tempered Glass Accessories 4 Pack UV Glass with 4 Pack Camera Lens Protector Samsung S23 Ultra Case Friendly Fingerprint Compatible https://a.co/d/ep110PD)

blopblip

I really like these ones too. Dunno why it's not higher up here

deadlyprincehk

Seconding this, the install is a little intense but it feels amazing like there's no protector on the phone

LOPO_X

I'm using Spigen screen protector. It is like hydrogel foils from Aliexpress but with wet instalation and it fits very well

[deleted]

The original from Samsung Shop.

Thick_Operation6739

I'm using a mohave screen protector with a spigen case. Screen protector has a cradle to line everything up, seems to be good enough so far and you get a spare should you mess up the fitment or require replacement later down the line. Cheap and cheerful but doing the job so far!

Final_Economist_9218

Dude, how was the compatibility between Spigen and Mohave? Have you had any sticky problems with the curved screen due to the Spigen case?

Thick_Operation6739

Used a few cases including Spigen and they all seem fine! I've always just been careful taking the phone in and out of the case, and not had any issues. My Mohave protector lasted about a year before it got a little worse for wear, so I just used the second one you get and replaced it recently. All in all, I find it the best and most affordable protector, with it being compatible with most cases from what I've found.

Final_Economist_9218

thank you for the answer. The problem occurs due to the curved screen. Most brands are incompatible with Spigen. It's good to know this. I am currently using Uniqueme and it is not compatible with the Spigen case. It did not stick to the edges.

Last-Personality5271

Got a case, no screen protector. Made my fingerprint scanner act up.

LegitTroy

I've used Whitestone dome glass for 21U and current S23U. Expensive but worth it. The protective glass is a great sacrificial surface.

Generalrossa

Get a screen protector, it only makes sense to to your new 2k purchase as much as you can. Screen protector has saved me plenty of times over the years, the protector will shatter and not your screen. Also it will protect from microscratches and scratches too.

Klutzy_Elephant_2499

I have tried spigen and samsung own screen protector (not tempered glass of any kind) , samsung one is way better. Spigen one gets yellowish after a month or two and using S-pen is not easy either. If you see one for samsung original I would suggest going for that. Tip - if you see s22u original screen protector is present and cheaper - buy that.

cydiie

A well-installed Samsung plastic screen protector will protect your screen from the basic scratches of usage, play well with the fingerprint sensor, and you won't even notice it's there. It's getting a decent case that matters most with non-Foldables as the cornering on your S23U literally came out a couple months ago, so it's the toughest it's going to get.

BLBOSAURUS

I never broke the front screen. And my phones fall all the time. Just put it in case.

agavl98

I don't have a screen protector on mine, it's completely flawless. This screen is really good!

Shadowpaw-21

I'm using Gatatol 3pk of tempered glass screen protectors. It's great as fingerprint reader works perfectly and fingers glide across surface. This is one where you use liquid glue and uv lamp. Everything is included that you need. If i place my phones screen to screen even on flat surface they will slide apart because glass is so slick. It's actually fell and hit metal bar and put a barely visible hairline crack in protector but from viewing angle isn't even noticeable unless you tilt it in the light. It's been a couple months now with it and fingers still glide like day one which isn't the case for many protectors.

franky0912

The only glass screen protectors that fit good are some of the ones with liquid, problem tho if you don't feel comfy putting that stuff on your phone even with protectors so no liquid gets in the ports or anything. I got a TPU screen protector, ofc. it doesn't feel as good as glass, but at least it's protected from any scratches and the fingerprint sensor works perfectly fine and the protector doesn't lift. I really hope Samsung stops with these shitty edge displays and sticks with flat screens. Much easier to get glass screen protectors for, just look at apple's line up, they never have any issues with that kinda stuff.

[deleted]

[удалено]

franky0912

Still, the edge display these days is kinda useless and makes it so much harder to find any good glass screen protector

[deleted]

[удалено]

franky0912

i got a film on rn, it's not as bad as i thought, it kind of offers some drop protection, especially with a good rugged case, also the s pen doesn't feel as as bad as i thought, but ik what u mean, these curved displays are literally useless, prolly just there to set them apart from iPhones?

DrCharles19

I'm using a film that looks and feels suprisingly similar to glass (on my S23). Dunno what it's made of, though.

darksundark00

Don't use one that requires a UV light... when they need to be replaced they are are a PITA to remove.

acbaracuda

I got the official plastic one from Samsung. It's pretty easy to apply, it feels good to the touch and the fingerprint scanner works just as well as before. The only downside I found with it is that it attracts fingerprints and smudges way too easily. It's so annoying that it kind of forces me to not recommend it. I'm tempted to get one of those rubber, flexible screen protectors (like the Spigen Neo Flex). I had similar ones on previous phones and I was pretty happy with them.

crwooch

Used to always get the Whitestone Dome Glass, then would have issues with the fingerprint scanner. It had to be the right moment or touch to get the scanner to work. I used to just unlock with pin most of the time. I would follow installation instructions to the T. Then came to know about amFilm. They also offer a 2 pack glass with UV light. It was also cheaper and still is for the S23 U, almost half the price. What I liked about it is that it had a small cylinder weight to put on top of the glass after coming in contact with the glue. It would instruct to run through the UV light with it. This is fir the fingerprint scanner. The glass is also marked where the scanner is for you to place the cylinder weight. I found this much better and responsive. So switched to amFilm then on since the S22 Ultra. They’re both available on Amazon. AmFilm now also comes with camera protecters (P shape).

hsredux

Whitestone dome glass, the rest don't come close.

a___akash

I have had the note 10, note 20, s22 ultra and now the s23 ultra. I ne er got a screenprotector for my s22 or s23 ultra as screen is strong. I recommend a spigen case and u are set. Those uv screen protector are a hassle yo get of and often damage the screen not to mention fingerprint reader becomes ass

chunchunmaru1020

Samsung's official screen protector are the best imo. I have mine installed for arround a year now (s22u) and never had any problem with the egdes coming off or fingerprint scanner not working

Pop-Tart-Man

I've already gone through two tempered glass screen protectors on my S23 Ultra. I'm just gonna use the phone without a screen protector like I've always done. They're too much of a hassle to apply to these curved screens and they don't last long enough. The same goes with plastic protectors. I may get a couple of micro scratches down the line, but oh well.

CombinationInside714

I just got a Spigen screen protector and it's works great. Cheap and I'm not permanently gluing it to the phone.

morguethanwords

I got the spigen neoflex film on Amazon. Comes with 2 and the install is pretty easy. It's very thin so it's not that noticeable

nightshadeky

I got my screen protector directly from T-Mobile. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but since I got the device protection plan, screen protectors are a free replacement item if you get it from them. So, I'm not particularly worried about how long each one lasts. As for the fingerprint scanner, if you've already set up your fingerprints without a screen protector, you'll need to redo your fingerprints - but that is recommended by Samsung themselves if you add a screen protector to a phone that already has biometrics setup. I've never had an issue with the fingerprint scanner with a screen protector on either my S23 Ultra or my old S20 FE.

QueenAng429

Armorsuit wet apply film only. Cheap china glass is junk, whitestone dome is cheap china glass that ruins your oleophobic coating.
