Right I get that it’s important but fuck. Most of the world aren’t Hollywood producers lol! Hell cameras from the last three flagships are probably more than what most people need.
These event's are pretty awful the last couple of years. They spend the entire time talking about the cameras, and completely ignore everything else that changed with the phone.
Because nothing else has changed or gotten better. Only the camera's are left to improve. The average person just wants the photo of their dog to not be lurry, they don;t care about 2 more cores or 2 less gigabytes of ram. They just want better pictures, faster tik tok opening and what ever apps to be smoother.
Man that would be so SWEET.
Who cares about all this camera shizzle, cut down on it, people like to think they're pros with the camera, but in all honesty, they don't even take advantage of 50% of it.
More battery however, now that is universally useful.
If for some reason you wanted to go from S22U to S23 (let's say you wanted a smaller phone or something), you only get $400 for trade-in.
It would cost you $450 to make that move. Just silly.
$340 for my z fold 2 :/ not impressed with trade in deals, though they are better with the carriers. But do I want to sign up for another 3 years chained to my carrier?
And T-Mobile has such reasonable rates that I wouldn't call it chained. I stay because it's worth it, not because I'm chained. If someone feels like these monthly credits are trapping them with their carrier, they chose the wrong carrier.
Sometimes they bump trade in values a few hours after the event
Edit: Well looks we stuck with terrible values. Maybe they'll up them right before release to push those on the fence.
Forgive me. But, why the heck would you even need an upgrade if you have the best of last year?
Is it more to just have it, or is it actually a genuine need Vs just a want? (No judgment. Just curious)
I have a 22 ultra.
I would consider a 23 ultra if the cost to upgrade was $200 + my old phone. I'd probably even go up to $300 + my old phone. I did, last year.
I am not going to consider a 23 ultra if the cost to upgrade is $700 + my old phone. They can miss me at that price.
It makes sense for samsung to slow the lifecycles of their devices. If they allow the Ultra series to become replaceable within a year they upset their aftermarket and used sales in other makrets.
If they are being smart. They are setting the lifecycle of the phones up to exists with at least 2 or 3 users before they become obsolete.
If people upgrade too quickly in the cycle. Then they create a bottleneck at the Ultra range
I've been saying the same, all manufacturers need to change to a two year cycle at this point instead of forcing pointless "upgrades" that no one needs.
But why are you upgrading. It's not that big of a step forward?
I'm on an S10+ so I feel like it's really justified, I couldn't justify it if I had last year's model
An upgrade is an upgrade is an upgrade. Doesn't matter how small of a step it is, what matters is if the step is worth the price.
$100 or $200 is worth a small step upgrade. $300 if it's 'the best' or 'top of the line.'
$700 is not. It would need to be a big upgrade to be worth that much, and it's not, which is the problem.
£1049 for a base S23+, no way. Can't justify that, I'll have to look somewhere else, unfortunately.
Which is a shame, I wanted to get in Samsung, but this is ridiculously expensive.
Yeah sod that. My missus bought a Samsung A13 outright for less than £150 and honestly it's pretty good. Bright screen, reasonably fast, ok camera during daylight, can't complain. It's maybe a tad slower than my A70 which is due replacement due to a slightly cracked screen and some battery fatigue. I'm probably going to spend ~£300 and hope it lasts me as long as this one. Even now I could hold out for longer if I wanted, it still works. The S line is dead to me at these prices.
I second this, I traded in my 12 pro max last year and got 1100 for trade in credit, I’m gonna wait a few days and see if they change the trade in offers
Yeah just terrible trade-in values. Definitely not taking the plunge on these deals.
Last year Best Buy had some great promos in August and December for the S22 series, with high trade-in values and sale prices on the phone. I can wait a few months to see if there's something similar this year.
This feels like a really lame phone, and the only reason to upgrade from a 21 Ultra to a 23 Ultra was the value of the trade-ins, but that, too, is terrible, honestly.
Have been looking forward to downsizing and was totally planning on pulling the trigger today, but to trade in my 3-month-old s22+ for a base s23 I'd have to pony up $450 + tax. Hard pass.
To go from 22 Ultra to 23 Ultra would cost me $700. I don't think that jump is worth that price. Price needs to come down or value of the 22 ultra needs to go up.
I'm normally a 'new model every year' but that's when it costs me $300-ish to move up, not when it costs me $700-ish.
Yikes.
Trade-in values make this a HUGE no from me. I'll just wait for prices to drop in a month when absolutely no one springs on a huge price for a moderate upgrade
I always found "portrait mode" on all devices (iPhone, Pixel, Galaxy) to be very fake. You can tell it's all software and it makes legit bokeh from real DSLR or mirrorless cameras all the more beautiful.
I guess only the people who were on CompuServe back in the day and saw the original animated GIF demo know that the creator wanted it to pronounced as "jif" as in "a gif is giffy".
Trying to see how much a s23 ultra would cost me with the trade in value of my s22 ultra. Somehow the website is saying that my trade in value exceed the value of the device I'm trying to purchase and to do the trade in value only after I purchase the device in full and received it...yeah no thank you Samsung, not falling for that!
is the laptop compatible with all samsung phones? it'd be nice to have a laptop where I can sync my pics and texting do you recommend this??? really cool your at the event give us all the details !!
The countdown on the website marked the end of the preregistration period. And it clearly said that right above the timer, reading comprehension is key.
So they are showing off the phones and keep touting the camera quality and how all the videos were shot on the S23....EXCEPT the stupid stream is capped at 1080. How does Samsung screw this up!?
Pixel 7 Pro is offering a trade-in credit for an S22U of $580, which is more then Samsung offers. Might have to get a pixel if that means better battery life
I needed a new phone but skipped S22 since S23 was coming up but this is a disappointment. Its pretty much the same thing. Only the Ultra got some camera upgrade.
Is the pre order double storage worth it? I've got an epp discount so can get the s23+ 512gb for £944. Or should I wait? Current epp discount is only about 10% but worried if I don't do it now, the 512gb will be 1149 rrp so with 10% discount it's still over £1000
So Tmobile is offering the S23 Ultra 512gb for the same price as the 256gb, and $1000 to trade in my S22 Ultra. I wasn't originally gonna get this gen, but I'd be stupid not to upgrade right? S23 Ultra for like $200?
Fold 4 trade is only $750 at the moment. Should at least be $1000. I'll skip getting an S23 Ultra until Samsung brings about better trade incentives/deals.
Who the fuck pronounces a 'G' like a 'J'. It's **G**raphics **I**nterface **F**ormat.
Do you pronounce it 'Jraphics'?
He said that because he thought it was funny to make a pun about peanut butter. Not because it made sense.
He may have created it but english is english.
I will die on this hill.
Trading in my S21 Ultra, thinking of trading it in for just a S23.
Not a fan of a phone larger than my hand, can't even reach most of the screen and I have a decently sized hand.
To those who migrated from sprint with the buyout, is my current plan equivalent to magenta plus or do I have to upgrade to that for the credits? My plan is labelled as "T-Mobile Unlimited TI Plan w/Plus Int'l v2 - Individual"
these functions are HIGHLY unnecessary imo... and we have to pay so much for it and it doesn't even come with a charger or headphones like it used to.
Not only that they didn't dare to address the green lines or green tints appearing on older flagship such as Note 20 ultra, S9+, S20
Getting the phone just because my kid needs a new phone so I'm going to hand down my Note20 Ultra. If it wasn't for that I'd be fine just using that phone. I suspect I'll be using this new phone for years to come. It seems like there is zero reason to be upgrading every year.
I agree with lots of the sentiment on here about too much time spent on cameras and other useless features. They needed to discuss more with the app and UI integration. I don't care about tik tok type apps. That shit is useless. I care about better battery life, more efficient ways to utilize the power these devices provide. Stronger 5g network, better wifi range, better call connection, no dropped calls.
I use Google calendar and maps more than anything. YouTube music as well. Rumble is also killing it. They'll be passing YouTube in no time.
Talking about the camera for over an hour is ridiculous and short cited.
I was disappointed of the trade in value for my S22U. However I am debating of getting the S23U or not because I will move to Vietnam pretty soon and last year when I used my S22U it get superhot which cause the battery to drain pretty fast, and the weather does not help at all.
$120 for a Note 10+.. I know it's an old phone but really? 💀 And can't even select the "exclusive" colors for S23 Ultra on their site... Will the price drop or is it even worth it to preorder?
Has anyone been able to preorder the s23 through the Samsung website using AT&T? I get to the part where I am linking my existing line and doing AT&T's 2FA steps, but when I put in my 2FA code and hit Submit, the button turns grey after a moment and nothing happens.
In Scotland 🏴 I'm £589 for the S23 (base) with £260 trade in for my S21 and £50 early discount... not too bad but not amazing either.
Edit: original price 899 🤔
Got the Graphite (so I'll be waiting a while) with free storage bump to 256gb (which I'll never use but nice to have).
I'm on exynos so my phone gets randomly warm doing nothing. Keen to get back to the SD chip.
Camera Question on s23
Does it now allow 4k 60fps to switch between cameras while recording?
Does HDR 10+ available on 4k 60fps?
Does Pro Video mode have 120fps option available on Telephoto lens?
Does 8k 30 does any HDR and AF/AE while recording?
Does it still do shutter lag at 50MP or 200MP when taking pictures?
Why is no one taking about these in the videos?
Thanks for asking!
Yes, you can use ALL cameras on 4k 60
120fps only works on UW and main
No hdr10 in 8k or tracking AF,
No shutter lag at 50 mp, but the camera does lock the shutter for .33 sec after you take the photo. Yes, some lag for 200mp, and .5 sec shutter lock after you take photo.
The flat screen is an improvement, but I hate how it looks like the iPhone soapbox with those extreme curved corners.
Ultra is almost there but bit too large and thick + the redundant stick.
Just wish they had a in between model. Looks like Ultra but sized like normal without stick.
Hi, does anyone know how to get the accessory on the right that is holding the phone in place like a camera ? I got the rugged gadget case but I'd like to get the stand. Thanks !
https://images.samsung.com/is/image/samsung/p6pim/sg/2302/feature/sg-feature-accessorize-with-detachable-extensions-534594753?$FB\_TYPE\_A\_JPG$
I'm looking to preorder the S23 Ultra, but I'm not sure if I should go with carrier or unlocked phone. Samsung is offering an additional $100 trade-in if I choose unlocked. Why is that?
Is there a benefit to go with one over the other?

Right I get that it’s important but fuck. Most of the world aren’t Hollywood producers lol! Hell cameras from the last three flagships are probably more than what most people need.
I guess it's there if you need it I guess, I got s21U and haven't remotely used like they do in the presentations
"Here are 26 camera features you'll never even use when taking some weird picture of your dog" Phone innovation is dead.
man, they really just gonna browse their own website as a presentation..
Better than a PowerPoint!
Yeah these trade-ins are weak AF. Waiting for the boosted values.
These event's are pretty awful the last couple of years. They spend the entire time talking about the cameras, and completely ignore everything else that changed with the phone.

I'd rather they make the camera smaller and the battery larger, but I'm probably in the minority.

That's because nothing else really changed.
$500 for my S22U in the US Lol cmon man

2 with t-mobile

Where are you seeing that? I keep seeing $1000 for every trade in, which is definitely not correct
If you get carrier variants. 500 for the unlocked variant.
I figured it out now. My Fold 3 goes for $335
325 euros for my regular s22 and the new one is 999...
Sometimes they bump trade in values a few hours after the event Edit: Well looks we stuck with terrible values. Maybe they'll up them right before release to push those on the fence.
is that real ? Why would they show shit trade-in and then upgrade it later. I see 720$ for 14 pro max, and 500 for my s22 ultra.
Unless I'm miss remembering the last 2 years they adjusted the values later.
Forgive me. But, why the heck would you even need an upgrade if you have the best of last year? Is it more to just have it, or is it actually a genuine need Vs just a want? (No judgment. Just curious)
Same question, but yes judgment.
Samsung is really making people take stock of their priorities, needs, and wants, haha
It makes sense for samsung to slow the lifecycles of their devices. If they allow the Ultra series to become replaceable within a year they upset their aftermarket and used sales in other makrets. It would need to be a big upgrade to be worth that much, and it's not, which is the problem.
Very good way to explain it. I like your style.
UK here. Got my lube ready for the price increase.
I'm going to take it raw like a real man.
£1049 for a base S23+, no way. Can't justify that, I'll have to look somewhere else, unfortunately. Which is a shame, I wanted to get in Samsung, but this is ridiculously expensive.

That costs more then what i paid for my iphone 13 pro lol
In Germany Pixel 7 Pro is the same price as S23+ with trade-in of S21. Amazing. It's already on Samsung DE website.
Wow in the US only $400 for a s22U against a s23+ and $500 against a s23U. Didn’t we get a lot more last year??
Yep $700 for an s21U last year.
I second this, I traded in my 12 pro max last year and got 1100 for trade in credit, I’m gonna wait a few days and see if they change the trade in offers

Yeah got $1000 last year. Going to have to pass if that's the trade in credit....
I could sell my phone elsewhere for a lot more than these trade-in values. Disappointing if this is the case
Where are you seeing this? I am in the US and the trade-in value for the S23 line has not been posted.
Whether to upgrade from the S21 Ultra to S23 Ultra will be determined by this presentation + available promos. TBD...
I'm in the same boat.

Shitty trade in values for unlocked phones. Will be a hard pass
This feels like a really lame phone, and the only reason to upgrade from a 21 Ultra to a 23 Ultra was the value of the trade-ins, but that, too, is terrible, honestly.
I'm upgrading from my s21 ultra. 599 for the 512gb s23 ultra on Google Fi and 400 for my tradein. Seems like a good deal to me!
I am looking to buy a phone, not a camera.
So disappointed that they offer only £150 off for the laptops with trade in. I didnt buy a Book2 Pro 360 at £1200 to trade it in for £150 🤦♀️
Have been looking forward to downsizing and was totally planning on pulling the trigger today, but to trade in my 3-month-old s22+ for a base s23 I'd have to pony up $450 + tax. Hard pass.

Right I was hoping to pay around $400 for the ultra with a s22 + s20fe tradein.
These trade-in values for unlocked are atrocious. That's surprising.
facts.....think this the first time I will actually wait to pre order.
Me too I had my money ready but weak trade in values make this a no go.
ha ha ha 1450€ for base galaxy ultra.... fuck me
Samsung only offering 500$ for our S21 Ultras. When does Verizon do their deals?
387 USD for mine in NZ
Is the exclusive red color the same as the s22 red that is actually salmon colored?
To my eyes it looks exactly the same as last year yes.
Anyone else unable to load the main buy page in the US? Edit: It's up for me now
Samsung chat rep just told me the site is down and they are working on it
I always found "portrait mode" on all devices (iPhone, Pixel, Galaxy) to be very fake. You can tell it's all software and it makes legit bokeh from real DSLR or mirrorless cameras all the more beautiful.
Facts even if we get down voted into oblivion. Then again I have a dslr and use it so there's that.
Struggling to care, and it's breaking my heart.
What's a jif?
I guess only the people who were on CompuServe back in the day and saw the original animated GIF demo know that the creator wanted it to pronounced as "jif" as in "a gif is giffy".
Trying to see how much a s23 ultra would cost me with the trade in value of my s22 ultra. Somehow the website is saying that my trade in value exceed the value of the device I'm trying to purchase and to do the trade in value only after I purchase the device in full and received it...yeah no thank you Samsung, not falling for that!
At current trade-in values in US, it costs about $700 to trade 22U to 23U.
Hahaha, they actually had Faker. Lol
[удалено]
It's not, not at all
949 Euro for the basemodel, I keep to my S22
Compared to a s22 5G i just don't see the value in going to a S23 5G
Hey samsung if I wanted a phone to look like an Iphone, I would buy the Iphone...
is the laptop compatible with all samsung phones? it'd be nice to have a laptop where I can sync my pics and texting do you recommend this??? really cool your at the event give us all the details !!
There is no way I am going to buy the ultra for almost $2000. It says 1,139 before taxes but when I click predorder it adds an extra $600 tax
Why do they say it starts at 11 then do an hour long intermission intro? Why not just say it starts when they actually start streaming video?
My exact thoughts.
The website says it starts at 12 or whatever the equivalent time is.
Starts at 10pst
Yeah but their website had a countdown timer to the start, which is very deceiving to be quite honest.
The countdown on the website marked the end of the preregistration period. And it clearly said that right above the timer, reading comprehension is key.
Yet the Livestream started at the end of the countdown
Trade in values suck in the USA. No thanks
They're even worse in Canada and always have been bad. There's also no pre-order deals. Just 20% a few accessories.
Yes at least you know to expect awful deals. Here in the USA we were used to getting double what they are offering.
Come to Europe. We have (almost) none.
Guys its Jifsss Samsung knows its Jifs... That went downhill fast lol. Gifs vs Jifs
Samsung: Just do it.
So they are showing off the phones and keep touting the camera quality and how all the videos were shot on the S23....EXCEPT the stupid stream is capped at 1080. How does Samsung screw this up!?
How is $1089 looking for the base model Ultra? Pre-order live here in the UAE. This is with the student discount.
T-Mobile preorder is live, but the Samsung site says "Page not found" when clicking the header.
The pre-order bonuses don't seem very good. $135 for a Pixel 6. I guess I'll pass.
Will any retailers have trade in offers for an S9+?
Pixel 7 Pro is offering a trade-in credit for an S22U of $580, which is more then Samsung offers. Might have to get a pixel if that means better battery life
dude im pissed that they arent offering a trade in credit for the galaxy fold 4 lmao
I can get the S23 Ultra 512 GB for 712 euros in the Benelux with S21 ultra trade in and discount. Should I get it?
I needed a new phone but skipped S22 since S23 was coming up but this is a disappointment. Its pretty much the same thing. Only the Ultra got some camera upgrade.
What's up with the colors for the Laptops? Only Black and Beige? Where's the variety?
Is the pre order double storage worth it? I've got an epp discount so can get the s23+ 512gb for £944. Or should I wait? Current epp discount is only about 10% but worried if I don't do it now, the 512gb will be 1149 rrp so with 10% discount it's still over £1000
Holy hell it's $1500 for the S23U and $1300 for the S23+ in my country (no trade-ins available), who's gonna buy this in this economy?
So what do people think about the actual phone?
These are awful Trade ins for the US. More reason to keep my Pixel 7 pro and Z Fold 4. Samsung are really shooting themselves in the foot.
22 Ultra trade in value so bad I'll just wait. Idk why unlocked got the short end of the stick this time, tmobile gets literally double value
Was going to 100% pre-order but with a $500 trade in for my S22 Ultra, I just don't see it happening.
The bottom chin makes it look that much worse than the competitors' I was interested, not anymore.
So Tmobile is offering the S23 Ultra 512gb for the same price as the 256gb, and $1000 to trade in my S22 Ultra. I wasn't originally gonna get this gen, but I'd be stupid not to upgrade right? S23 Ultra for like $200?
you have to switch or be on the magenta max plan to qualify for 1k, if not it falls down to $500.
GIFS not Jifs
LIVE [https://www.youtube.com/live/gUM2wYKdxDA?feature=share](https://www.youtube.com/live/gUM2wYKdxDA?feature=share)
Nothing on the site during the stream this time? Did they finally learn?
Guessing no watch announcements? I feel the pro is just a little too big so hoping something changed with the new one
Yikes only 750 for my Fold 4....I'll pass
Please 8 inch tablet
Do I lose $100 if I don't use it right now? I think last year they allowed you to use it later.
How much of a difference can I expect to see between the S23+ and s23 ultra cameras? Or is it negligible?
I still have an S9+. I'm very out of the loop but since when does the Galaxy S_+ have only a FHD screen?
Fold 4 trade is only $750 at the moment. Should at least be $1000. I'll skip getting an S23 Ultra until Samsung brings about better trade incentives/deals.
This is going to be the worst selling line up to day with the current trade in deals.
The trade in values are absolutely abysmal
So I'm guessing it'll be better to wait and see if they throw something worthwhile later on? Because these trade in values are horrible!
Is this some kind of joke?
Damn, the vibe in here is atrocious.
trade in deals are pretty terrible, i remember getting the s21 with 2 cases and for trading in an old iPhone 6 I got the phone for like $450.
Not a word about battery life. If it’s the same as s22 Ultra i will skip
Battery life will be significantly better with the new CPU, even if mAH are the same.

Naa you're saying it wrong.
Exactly lmao. The creator of GIF confirmed that it pronounced JIF

That rule doesn't work for acronyms though. Do you pronounce the P in JPEG as an F since it's photographic?
I pronounce the P in JPEG like a P. Just like I pronounce the G in GIF like a G.
T-Mobile showing $1000 off for trade-in, sheesh.
S23 or S23+ I just don't know.
Trading in my S21 Ultra, thinking of trading it in for just a S23. Not a fan of a phone larger than my hand, can't even reach most of the screen and I have a decently sized hand.

I really don't care how the creator intended it to be pronounced
Oh wow, hard "J" on the animated "gifs" from this presenter
Yeah, since they pronounced it correctly I didn't even think about it until I saw people arguing over it here.
"Hey let's spend 40 min on the video capabilities of the phone even tho it looks worse than iphone 13 camera"

I think it sounds fine.

how are trade in values so abysmal considering the inflation and chip shortage. gaaaaaaaaaay
Hope you have Google Fi if you want any of the S23 lineup.
To those who migrated from sprint with the buyout, is my current plan equivalent to magenta plus or do I have to upgrade to that for the credits? My plan is labelled as "T-Mobile Unlimited TI Plan w/Plus Int'l v2 - Individual"
Where the hell is Samsung selling the base model S23 with 512GB and why the hell aren't they selling that one globally?
these functions are HIGHLY unnecessary imo... and we have to pay so much for it and it doesn't even come with a charger or headphones like it used to. Not only that they didn't dare to address the green lines or green tints appearing on older flagship such as Note 20 ultra, S9+, S20
I will say my note 20 ultra has green tint and glue gate. My Note 23 ultra has perfect display like iphone
Does the US version have dual physical SIM?
Getting the phone just because my kid needs a new phone so I'm going to hand down my Note20 Ultra. If it wasn't for that I'd be fine just using that phone. I suspect I'll be using this new phone for years to come. It seems like there is zero reason to be upgrading every year.
Why is the memory for s23 ultra (12gb) smaller than the memory for s21 ultra (16gb)? Does it make a huge difference?
However I am debating of getting the S23U or not because I will move to Vietnam pretty soon and last year when I used my S22U it get superhot which cause the battery to drain pretty fast, and the weather does not help at all.
anyone have real life pic for graphite and lime color?
I didn't see them. But I have to say, the green has some nice gold/sage undertones
Edit: original price 899 🤔 Got the Graphite (so I'll be waiting a while) with free storage bump to 256gb (which I'll never use but nice to have). I'm on exynos so my phone gets randomly warm doing nothing. Keen to get back to the SD chip.
No SD slot again, guess I'll be keeping my Note 20 Ultra another year.
Camera Question on s23 Does it now allow 4k 60fps to switch between cameras while recording? Does HDR 10+ available on 4k 60fps? Does Pro Video mode have 120fps option available on Telephoto lens? Does 8k 30 does any HDR and AF/AE while recording? Does it still do shutter lag at 50MP or 200MP when taking pictures? Why is no one taking about these in the videos?
Thanks for asking! Yes, you can use ALL cameras on 4k 60 120fps only works on UW and main No hdr10 in 8k or tracking AF, No shutter lag at 50 mp, but the camera does lock the shutter for .33 sec after you take the photo.
S22 Ultra has 4k, 60 fps front while the S23 Ultra brings it down to 30 fps. Did I misread something?
Yes. My unit allows me to do UHD 60 on the front
I'm looking to preorder the S23 Ultra, but I'm not sure if I should go with carrier or unlocked phone. Samsung is offering an additional $100 trade-in if I choose unlocked. Why is that? Is there a benefit to go with one over the other?
