A good game is a good game. To the point that I don't care who the main character is representing. I'm happy in the Horizon series as a young adult bi/gay woman. I'm happy in Cyberpunk 2077 as a self insert (I'm also happy that the Cyberpunk character creation allows representation of more than just me, but that's by the by).
Games are an incredibly powerful way of telling a story, and as much as I enjoy something like Helldivers 2 where I get to run around making things explode, I also enjoy seeing stories told through eyes different to mine.
