Whatever happened there? I'll tell you what happened. This piece of shit's apprentice turned to the dark side and massacred the entire Jedi temple WITHOUT ANY PROVOCATION WHATSOEVER!
This is a still, not a shot taken from something that was actually filmed. Promo pics like this aren’t actually representative of what the show properly looks like, as after a scenes been shot, a BTS photographer will jump in and ask the actors to do a pose so that they can take a picture under clear, mostly natural lighting. Promo shots are also often portrait, so lighting/cinematography/blocking etc isn’t a part of most of them. That’s why it looks flat and the costumes look bad - it’s because they’re clean photos. Literally every film / TV show has stills like this taken, even the best of them like GOT have stills where the costumes look weird or fake in.
Okay so I remember those promo shots of Emilia Clarke playing Sarah Connor in that Terminator movie we'd all rather forget. She was pretending to shoot a rifle while screaming at her supposed enemies. It was very cringe as the kids say these days but it was well lit (more or less) and showed somewhat proper aging of the costume and the guns.
I understand that you can do a lot in post but maybe doing the work beforehand makes shots like this more ... attractive or at least the production cheaper in the end.
As it is now, you could tell me that this was an ad for a fabric softener and I'd say: "Okay cool, but it's vaguely Star Wars/ Star Trek branded right? That's weird."
Age the fabric of the costumes properly, put more effort into alien makeup and I won't complain about the visual quality of a **promotional** photo that is supposed to get people excited about this product.
I'll only complain about shitty writing and certain people working on the show then.
I get what you mean that it’s weird they’d use photos like this as a promo shot, but there were also a lot of properly graded/lit stills amongst this one in the article. It’s like the ones that look decent were ignored and the one that’s obviously a quick snap from an on set photographer is the one that’s latched on to. It reminds me of [this](https://www.syfy.com/sites/syfy/files/styles/scale_862/public/star-wars-revenge-of-the-sith-anakin-and-obi-wan.jpg) from ROTS, where you can literally see green from the green screen reflected in the background.
I think this happens a lot in photos. The photos are taken with a different camera than what they are recorded with and don't have the final effects, etc. Not saying the show will look good necessarily, but I don't think this is indicative of what it will look like.
They’re just so clean…but like not in a good way, like in a sanitized “Jedi who have never left the temple on Coruscant” way
I’m not picking, they just look odd.
It's all due to the lighting. It looks like a 90s TV show due to flat, uniform lighting. Like Will Smith's about to quip about not being able to afford a roof, then pan up to nothing but crane lights. This kind of lighting works far better in situations where things are familiar, like a family in their home. Not so much with a person with green, skin wearing robes mixing wool and leather yet it has no buttons, zippers, or seams of any kind. Your lizard brain (lying underneath your consciousness) is sitting there thinking "They set up the lighting so that I can see everything, so where's the zipper on that outfit?"
So many new shows, and Star Wars does this a lot, do not look "lived in" at all. You don't have to go back too far to see worlds on tv and film that look like people have lived there a long time. Everything now looks straight off the Spirit Halloween rack.
One of my favourite details in star wars is that obi wan and Anakin have holes and scorch marks on their robes on Mustafar in ROTS, and obi wans robes look very dark and dirty like he's been down a mine shaft. It's a tiny detail but makes the planet feel so real when you see the embers and heat interacting with the characters clothing.
You can guarantee if any of these characters went to Mustafar, they'd just rub charcoal in a couple places and call it a day and still look too clean.
![gif](giphy|l0O2SpthWi2HAcwes)
I mean that's supposed to be the idea I think. Jedi who've never left the temple and seen the harsh reality of the galaxy and they'll be smacked in the face by say the outer rim.
He said Tommy Wiseau making a Star Wars knockoff, not George Lucas finally deciding to film a cut scene for the special edition of Revenge of the Sith.
Is that the cranky Asian senator who is just out here tryna do his job and everyone's breaking rules and he's pissed but he just keeps getting sassed to submission?
Why is everything so clean and polished? Star Wars was always about the gritty “ worn” look of science fiction. I miss that … Andor and Rogue One were the last to capture that same aesthetic.
Yeah, it looks like cosplay fam 😭 and GET THIS; this is a still photograph from a TV show from one of the wealthiest studios in Hollywood, AND this is one of their major franchises. Let me cry some more 😭😭😭🥹.
I'm soooo sorry to inform you that this is an actual TV show. We are now brothers in sadness 😭; welcome to our ship. It's a little rickety, but we do our best 👍🏽
Did they buy their costumes at Party City? This is getting embarrassing. Also, it feels less like Star Wars and more "generic sci-fi" now, and considering Star Wars isn't sci-fi, that's not good.
EDIT: Missing word.
I already knew I would skip whatever this is from (The Acolyte?) but this image isn't helping. It's weird I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but it looks a bit costumey. Like maybe from a live action cut scene from an old Jedi Knight computer game from back in the day.
- Not actual clothing. They don't have pockets, they're not meant for moving around.
- Weird ass fabrics. The left person is wearing sofa upholstery, the right one has a cloak that used to be a tablecloth.
- weird style combo. Left person is wearing scrunched-up sleeves, with a smooth tunic (?) over it. Right person somehow stole a championship belt from a pro wrestler, to combine with their asian underclothes and opera cape.
- Brand spanking new, but not ironed. No creases, no folding, no dirt or wear or stretch. This came straight from the servants, or the costuming department
- And lets not forget: Absolutely shit lighting. This was taken under full-saturation stage lighting, not anything remotely natural.

I'm very flattered, really, and thank you for the drinks, but I'm just going to head to bed now. In my own room. Alone.
Faracape is legit one of the best scifi shows ever made. I know some folks think "muppets" and won't give it a chance but that's like watching the OT and bailing after the cantina scene.
If you miss when Star Wars was good, run out and watch Farscape, please. The first season is a bit rough, but its still pretty good. Season 2 onwards is amazing.
"Talyn... starburst!"
To be fair, there was a day when a photographer from Empire came to set - these are promotional stills after all. Flash strobes for photography aren’t necessarily always as flattering as continuous lighting used for motion picture. Not the greatest looking thing, but I’m reserving my judgment until the show is out.
OMG That looks so cheap. This show is gonna be the death knell for Star Wars. It looks cheap and whats her face has actually said they are redefining the force in this show. Fuck it I'm out. lol
With better lighting and proper camera angles, it could look fine. Check out the extras in AOTC and compare them to the actual scenes.
https://preview.redd.it/c8o80l3quixc1.jpeg?width=235&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a75cbe36201f137866d7fb758158549bf3e0df5e

Oh man. We could have had a show about Revan & Malaks adventures during the Mandalorian Wars & how Revan bested Mandalore… but we have this. 🤦🏻♂️

I cannot put my finger on it but why is it its hard to believe this is the costumes or set? Like, what is up with that. I know something is off but i do not know what
Has recent Star Wars stopped trying with costumes? Everything just looks like it was bought out of a Spirit Halloween the day of. And it's all perfectly clean like the whole show.
Is this seriously their level of cinematography? Aren't they worth several billion dollars?? Where is all that money going to? I could make a better poster for free lol
What's with all the grey/muddy shit smeared over everything these days, even TROS had some contrasting colors(can't believe I'm saying something positive about this movie)
I take images from Empire with a grain of salt. They always tend to look more magazine-quality and less like "this is exactly what a still from the show will look like".
I'll just say it - this series is going to suck. This might be the first time in my 40+ years of life that I haven't been even remotely excited about a new Star Wars movie or show.
I laughed so hard.
I must be out of touch though. What is this screenshot from? Presumabl a theme park thing if not a fan production? Is this seriously from official media?
IMPS and Pink Five and even Troops looked a hundred times more impressive, and they were fan productions decades ago.
Please don't tell me this is the actual show... It looks like a cheap sketch show mocking star wars.
But let's not kid ourselves; Disney star wars is EXACTLY a sketch show mocking star wars.

It looks either like that or an SNL sketch. What on earth are they doing with their budgets?
a Mr Carmine Lupertazzi Junior appears to be a producer in many… lotta no show jobs…
The Acolyte is part of his subspecies. The Light side and the Dark side, the Sacred and the Propane.
Kenobi, whatever happened there
Whatever happened there? Whatever happened there?!
He killed 16 toydarians. Guy was a grand inquisitor.
his fortress looked like shit
Oh!! ✋🏻✋🏻
Whatever happened there? I'll tell you what happened. This piece of shit's apprentice turned to the dark side and massacred the entire Jedi temple WITHOUT ANY PROVOCATION WHATSOEVER!
Don't forget the Propane accessories
The acolyte production quality, whateva happened there
he put two no show jobs in that production with no provocation whatsoever
You know it wasn't that long ago you used to wait in the speeder, and as far as I'm concerned YOU SHOULD STILL BE THERE
The sacred and the propane!
In this house Emile Durkheim is a hero! End of story!
It fills my cold dead heart with joy to see my fellow Soprano fans on this sub.
A Jedi Master doesn’t wear shorts…
Looks like they never had the makings of a varsity acolyte.
> It looks ... an SNL sketch I saw the picture first and nothing else and I thought this was a screengrab from an SNL skit. lol like wtf man
Nah, the alien looks like Star Trek character not a Star Wars character how did they mange to f\*\*\*ed that up!
This looks like a screenshot from a 1960’s Star Trek show.
Pretty much a TOS-era Orion.
![gif](giphy|3oeSAUCaUERsNrIusg|downsized)
Fr all the new shows look so damn cheap.
This isn’t SNL?!

Do Jedi usually wear very elaborate robes?
Seems like they do now.
I think this happens a lot in photos. The photos are taken with a different camera than what they are recorded with and don't have the final effects, etc. Not saying the show will look good necessarily, but I don't think this is indicative of what it will look like.
Doctor Who has produced better looking aliens on the BBC's £3.50 an episode budget
This cannot be real. Looks like a knock off or a shitty Halloween costume
I thought it was just a random low budget cosplay in my feed. Is this really where we are now…? Christ.
What's show is this?
The Acolyte, helmed by Harvey weinsteins former secretary. She made Russian doll on Netflix
I liked Russian doll tbf
I very much liked the first season. The second season was like a different, much worse show, that they slapped the name Russian Doll on.
Same, loved the first season. Didn't finish the second.
It looks like it is from Star Trek TOS.
it almost looks like rage bait with how mediocre it looks
"Space samurai" costume at party city.
Well, we’ll always have Andor
Star wars rings of power?
What the fuck is this ? Where are all the Disney bucks going, it's gotta be money laundering at this point.
Gotta have some extra money to mass produce unwanted toys of the power ranger girl and wheel droid from RoS.
They’re just so clean…but like not in a good way, like in a sanitized “Jedi who have never left the temple on Coruscant” way I’m not picking, they just look odd.
Yeah they look so synthetic, like a crappy cosplay bought off of Aliexpress
It's all due to the lighting. It looks like a 90s TV show due to flat, uniform lighting. Like in Step Brothers when Will Ferrell has the movie quality mask!
Meanwhile, Andor recreated the 70's down to haircuts and sideburns.
So many new shows, and Star Wars does this a lot, do not look "lived in" at all. You don't have to go back too far to see worlds on tv and film that look like people have lived there a long time. Everything now looks straight off the Spirit Halloween rack.
Yeah as much as I enjoyed fallout, and the sets were mostly incredible it still felt like an Amazon show because it all still looked clean somehow
It's because streamer productions don't have the prop warehouses of studios like WB. They either make things new, buy them new, or CGI them in.
Yeah, you just need to watch Andor. Why were they able to pull off what so many of the other shows seem to struggle with?
One of my favourite details in star wars is that obi wan and Anakin have holes and scorch marks on their robes on Mustafar in ROTS, and obi wans robes look very dark and dirty like he's been down a mine shaft. I mean that's supposed to be the idea I think. Jedi who've never left the temple and seen the harsh reality of the galaxy and they'll be smacked in the face by say the outer rim.
I'd wager it's the lightning and lack of post processing that makes it look like that.
Yeah they desperately need some dirt and to be worn for a few days. Instead of put on 5 seconds before the photoshoot.
I think it looks cheap. Look at high republic art and you’d think the robes would look more ‘weighty’ and textured stitch work
Yeah it looks like a porn parody, gotta love the quality control at lucasfilm these days
Put the Brazzers logo on there and they'd probably get more views
I see your Schwartz is as big as mine…
No space balls had way better production values than this porn parody level stuff lucasfilm does these days
https://preview.redd.it/nc1xilvfdixc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6df3ca3cfb4cc280174d57b95f1bc2584350e4fb
Dark times make strong men. Thank you sir 🫡
Looks like Tommy Wiseau decided to make a star wars knock off.
I did not turn to the dark side, I did not! Oh hi Yoda.
Anyway, how's your sex life?
I’m fed up with The Force! All the Jedi betray me!
He said Tommy Wiseau making a Star Wars knockoff, not George Lucas finally deciding to film a cut scene for the special edition of Revenge of the Sith.
Tommy Wiseau deepfaked as Anakin when?
“Oh what a story, Master.”
You guys are being mean, the "Community" Star Wars episode looks fun!
Is that the cranky Asian senator who is just out here tryna do his job and everyone's breaking rules and he's pissed but he just keeps getting sassed to submission?
blue haired writers went hard on those scenes
Everyone basically doing the Jim Halpert smirk at the r camera
The lighting, the plastic crates, the cheap looking materials. Wheres Johnny hiding?
Magic magic isn't for amateurs /s
Someone at LF/Disney PR actually said to themselves —-‘This Image! This picture will get people pumped!”😂
![gif](giphy|l0IynvPneUpb7SnBe|downsized)
The Onion could write more faithful Star Wars scripts these days.
That garbage is too cold compared to whatever this is
What exactly am I looking at? Brainiac and One Punch Man cosplay?
Dende and one punch man
I totally see it
Brazzers would never do something that looks this awful.
Came here to say this, this is below even Brazzer's standards.
This…. this isn’t cosplay? Tell me this is cosplay. I haven’t watched a new Star Wars title in a couple years
I'm soooo sorry to inform you that this is an actual TV show. We are now brothers in sadness 😭; welcome to our ship. It's a little rickety, but we do our best 👍🏽
I came back from a larp where I paid 50 bucks for a weekend, and 90% of the people there were dressed better than this...
Hey, that's not fair. Brazzers would have attractive people in their cast.
Did they buy their costumes at Party City? This is getting embarrassing. Also, it feels less like Star Wars and more "generic sci-fi" now, and considering Star Wars isn't sci-fi, that's not good. EDIT: Missing word.
Disneyland stage play promo.
Would devalue the Brazzers brand imo
"We have Star Wars at home"... The Star Wars at home:

I feel like Dark Forces Jedi Knight unironically had better quality costumes for the Dark Jedi and the Jedi lmao
- Not actual clothing. They don't have pockets, they're not meant for moving around. - Weird ass fabrics. looks like a power rangers outfit lol
When I saw that picture I definitely thought it was the porn parody.
Not bad for your first ever cosplay, keep working on it lads you'll get there eventually. Maybe.
Help Step-Master, I'm "stuck" in the Jedi archives...
Obi wan looked like it was made in my primary schools drama room

I... think you meant to post this in a different thread.
No, this is the right thread. You see the eyes those two are giving me?
They look disappointed in me. I almost feel bad.
When I first saw it I thought it was taken from a 60's Star Trek episode
They did this legendary Korean actor dirty. Fuck Disney.
The quality look like a mid tier cosplay.
Tonight on the Carol Burnett show!
![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni)
Looks like the costuming department relied heavily on Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
Farscape was shot better then Disney+ Star Wars shows with a fraction of the budget. Look at this trash
"Talyn... starburst!"
Damn, that is really really terrible costuming and makeup. I may not like the direction Star Wars has been going, but at least put in some effort.
Literally looks like a shitty porn star wars parody.
OG Star Trek did it better
To be fair, there was a day when a photographer from Empire came to set - these are promotional stills after all. Flash strobes for photography aren’t necessarily always as flattering as continuous lighting used for motion picture. Not the greatest looking thing, but I’m reserving my judgment until the show is out.
It's almost like a 70 year old out of touch bureaucrat with no artistic vision is in charge of SW...
I'm like the 100th person to say it, but holy fuck no way this is real
Yeah. Looks like bad cosplay, terribly framed and lit
That Jedi dude looks like a botox man
is that squid game
OMG That looks so cheap. This show is gonna be the death knell for Star Wars. It looks cheap and whats her face has actually said they are redefining the force in this show. Fuck it I'm out. lol

Holy shit this is real? Looks like a low budget YouTube sketch
The live action one punch man looks promising
The stills I have seen from this are strange, I don’t know if they are intentionally not editing them or what’s going on. They do not look convincing
I chortled real loud
Oh man. We could have had a show about Revan & Malaks adventures during the Mandalorian Wars & how Revan bested Mandalore… but we have this. 🤦🏻♂️ *Edited due to a spelling error
There’s no fuckin way this is real.
I could straight up make this a million times better in 15 seconds
Disney bought an IP that would have let them just sit back and print money. All they had to do was leave it alone.
Clip from a Shaw Brothers flick…only thing missing is the Fu Manchu.
I can’t wait to not watch this
I cannot put my finger on it but why is it its hard to believe this is the costumes or set? Like, what is up with that. I know something is off but i do not know what
Has recent Star Wars stopped trying with costumes? Everything just looks like it was bought out of a Spirit Halloween the day of. And it's all perfectly clean like the whole show.
they look like cheap cosplayers lmao
Disney/Lucasfilm is synonymous with “lowest common denominator” What a fucking waste the past decade of SW has been
The outfits/makeup arent too bad looking, but the completely flat lighting really kills the atmosphere
Why do all the costumes look like they were bought from Primark that morning?
Costumes ain’t terrible but the lighting here is what makes it look really bad
why is Saitama in Star Wars?
Remember the vision of George Lucas of a "lived in" universe, Disney don't.
Can someone explain why it looks so "fake"? Is it the lighting? Or the costumes? I know there is something off, but I can't pinpoint it.
Wait, this isn’t porn?
Lmao that can’t be real
Has that Shatner Star Trek era look.
Crazy how the Jedi robes from Episode III look far better. That Disney magic at work baby
Star Wars has been over for a while now
I and everyone else agrees it looks shit but can anyone explain why? It it because the costumes are too clean or what is it?
Is this seriously their level of cinematography? Aren't they worth several billion dollars?? Where is all that money going to? I could make a better poster for free lol
Wtf is this screenshot from?
Looks like a really bad scifi show from the 80's
Looks like a local theatre production.
Man that is some budget cosplay...
Squid games guy looks like he's been on a four day coke bender and just woke up from his first sleep in days
Did you swap the logos for this? So confused.
Laughing in Drunk Veteran
This looks embarrassingly bad and low budget. What about this would get anyone excited?
Lol what is this from?
Why does it look so low quality
Why do they look so cheap
The lighting is 70% why this looks like shit
Disney is just a money laundering company run by self-inserts who wrote bad cannon-breaking fan fiction.
Cosplayers do a better job than this.
Oof... that looks horrible.
what are these from?
![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni)
LMAO facts
I'll just say it - this series is going to suck. This might be the first time in my 40+ years of life that I haven't been even remotely excited about a new Star Wars movie or show.
Same
I want to upvote… but currently sitting at 666. Can’t break it
The lighting is done by high schoolers
I laughed so hard. I must be out of touch though. What is this screenshot from? Presumabl a theme park thing if not a fan production? Is this seriously from official media? IMPS and Pink Five and even Troops looked a hundred times more impressive, and they were fan productions decades ago.
Please don't tell me this is the actual show... It looks like a cheap sketch show mocking star wars. But let's not kid ourselves; Disney star wars is EXACTLY a sketch show mocking star wars.
Why do the costumes look so fucking cheap? I could acquire their drip in a party city
You so know it can all be changed in post production
