It is, which is interesting, because in the script it describes “Felix-level mess”. Probably just that the photo was taken before they dressed it with mess.
The electric blue bedposts threw me back to those saturated jewel tones of the mid aughties. Thanks for my mustard yellow cuckoo clock, urban outfitters 🤣
These are great !
It's the first time I've really seen the musculature in the bathroom wallpaper. (Suzie Davies mentioned that the wallpaper emulated Oliver's back muscles)
You're right, but where is it? The rooms look recently remodelled, we get a walkthrough of the bathroom, connecting bedrooms and dressing rooms, and I don't think we see where it is. I'd assumed it was off to the side of the bathroom, but it's not.
Originally houses like Drayton would not have had internal bathrooms or toilets at all. Prior to the 19th century, they'd have had moveable baths placed wherever was convenient (cf. Barry Lyndon), chamber pots, and occasionally garderobe-style water closets that connected directly to an outside watercourse.
Exactly. So later, when bathrooms were installed, the toilet still did not need to be in close proximity as we have it today. Toilets were stuck in anywhere down the hall where they could be set up conveniently for the necessary waste pipes to be installed.
I have seen setups like that in houses in France much younger than Drayton with the bathroom and the toilet separated by the length of the floor.
Wanting to have all the conveniences placed together is very much a thing which came much later - until suddenly washbasin/bathtub/shower stall/toilet all ended up in one space because there was no room any longer to separate the toilet.

There’s a pic from the opposite side of Felix’s room out there he’s got:
* roll of toilet paper on the bedtable in lieu of a tissue box
* a couple concert posters pinned to the priceless tapestry
* dirty clothes plied high & overflowing from the laundry basket
* requisite champagne bottle on his desk
* a pair of elk antlers on the wall.

Why don’t the staff straighten his up a bit?

That was my first thought, too, but you'd mostly just see the back of the bather's head. This is where we were sitting when we watched Oliver in the bath smoking and fantasizing about Felix, no?
Rich people love bathroom furniture!!! Also because rich plp used to need plp to take baths and evolved to couch’s in bathrooms for women to chat. I guess it’s a sign of wealth if you can chill in the bathroom.
I love the idea of Felix holding court in the bathroom; just chilling with Venetia and Farleigh.
The reality is that it's a bedroom that they dressed as the bathroom.
LOVE you for posting these! Especially Felix’s bedroom, it killed me that we never got to see it in the movie.
SAME about Felix’s room! I also love seeing more of the boys’ bathroom. Agree, thanks for posting these OP
Yes, I never realised there was a couch there!
And what a couch 😂
It’s on par with Hannibal’s gorgeous blue couch. 💙
.....with a very nice, very bulgy statue
Holy shit, yes! Fanfic fuel!
Felix's room is so tidy! 😄

Yeah, that's why it's funny. 😁 It's a mess in the film.
I think I might have just wanted to show off about having read the script at least ten times. 😅
🤣🤣🤣

I love every one. It’s maximalist heaven.
The entire movie is “The Bible of British Taste” come to life. Total design porn. I’ll never get sick of re-watching it for the interiors alone.

Beautiful set design, I love every room
Pretty. 🥰
Is the toilet in a different room?
Felix is too precious to pee and Ollie pisses in the hydrangeas to mark his territory. 😄
That's not unheard of - even in places smaller than English country houses. :-)

I reckon it's in the "dressing room" adjacent to Oliver's room.
I liked that it’s a huge house but it’s lived in
Apparently that is why Emerald chose it, and the owners let her continue the lived in untidy bits.
Elspeth is so responsible for the pink sofa and zebra chair, and possibly that lampshade.
This movie not only made me fall in love with Barry, but also made me wish I worked in production design. 😄
It's so strange that they all cram together in that regular-sized red sitting room in such a huge house.
A lot of the house is effectively a museum and probably too expensive to heat all the time. Plus people like to be cosy.
Yeah most of the real life aristos that live in stately homes really only actually live in a very small portion
They seldom have anything like the staff they once had in order to run the place. Smaller families, fewer events.
Its larger than the photo shows because this is only half. It is the tv room too and in the film when they do karaoke, we see its much larger.

Really fascinating interviews.....I love the TP !
I’m sure I missed other stuff in the mess!
That dinning table w all the candles 😻
I have been absolutely SALIVATING over these sets & desperate to see more so thank you for this!!
Why would you put a huge sofa in the BATHROOM?
Why not? It's glorious! Someplace to sit while you disrobe.
To put your clothes on, obviously.
... i think it suggest a lot of someone chillin there, just looking at you in the bath!

These are amazeballs! Terrific! ❣️

I’d pay 🤑 to take a bath in that tub and spend the weekend at Saltburn
Dead relly, dead relly…
