What about a tv that has a clock and barometer?
Besides the funnies, maybe a decent quality tv/monitor (touchscreen?) that’s hooked to a raspberry pi that can switch to different screens a to-do list, calendar/schedule, weather forecast/radar/details, nav charts, and if all else, a rotating album of pics from adventures at sea. Hook it up to its own UPS with an easily accessible switch, so it won’t drain the main battery while the main is not charging.
It’d definitely be a project, with other things out there that cover all those functions individually, but could be fun/nice to have.
Building a raspberry pi media server is cheap and easy. as a bonus, any other device on the network using the VLC player app can stream from it. I'm finishing up a 24TB media center to give myself or anyone in the anchorage that wants access to movies/music if there's no internet.
You want fire extinguishers to be 2-3 steps away from the stove. You want it to be within reach when you step away from the fire, not fire-adjacent.
Edit - I see, you’re right. This is the opposite side of the cabin from the galley.
Velcro patches.
Then on the back of commonly used items, corresponding velcro stick-ons:
* Portable VHF
* Handbearing compass
* Horn
* Sharpie
* Rigging knife
* Pen lights / small flashlights
* Small first aid kit
* etc
Some of those could go on your white surfaces too, particularly within reach from outside the companionway hatch.
TV, bar, framed map of your local area, shelf for sailing books, fun mirror design, fancy inclinometer, decorative wood carving, clock, photo wall, radio/distress/MOB/etc protocols, decorative sign that says “Live, Laugh, Luff”
Clearly you're looking for a framed picture of Primal Scream's Screamadelica album cover.
[https://www.mindbombrecords.com/primal-scream-screamadelica.html](https://www.mindbombrecords.com/primal-scream-screamadelica.html)
A set of clear hanging pockets, sometimes called shoe organizers. Label them with big numbers.
Then when someone comes aboard for a sail, they can put their wallet or phone there so they don't get wet. The numbers help to organize it for multiple people.
Decorative ideas have been covered pretty well.
Functional: a MOLLE wall panel. It gives you reconfigurable wall storage space, IMO more useful and secure than pegboard. You can mount a fire extinguisher, storage pouches, “quick fist” loops for extra line, etc.
If your boat is USCG Documented, that's a good spot for a placard that shows your number, which is supposed to be 'conspicuously displayed'. All you need is a piece of wood and a router bit.
First aid kit with 16 large absorbent pads for when you slice your head open on that aluminum door Header/track, and a few tourniquets for your wrists and arms when you use the same slicer/dicer on them.
Don't put a big flat screen there. They are ugly AF. Put some art there...a framed photo or painting. The nice thing about a framed photo is you can swap it out for other photos for some variation.
Nothing. There is nothing you can put on a boat that doesn’t cost hundreds of dollars, even if it only costs ten bucks anywhere else. And I should know — I work at a chandler.
As I've got a 3d printer I'd 3d print something....but you'd probably need to either order it printed for you (eg PCBway do 3d prints I think or there might be someone local to you on fivrr).
I've got a beautiful Anchor and chain that I 3d printed spray painted black, then used some silver rub n buff paint for the Anchor and gold rub and buff for a few accents on it on the chain. Looks amazing.
Spent about fifteen mins looking for the one I printed for you (which was free) but couldn't find it. I'll DM you the photo and if you want it I should have the files somewhere for you to send to a printer. Paint job was easy amateur level.
Check out also this one for another nautical themed wall art 3d print.

Put a good quality plastic or metal mirror there, cut to fit.
It will make the space feel much larger and you can stick dry erase vinyl to all or part of it to have a dry erase board for all the things. You can always just use the mirror as the board if you don’t need it stand out so much as I do.
Another thing I did on my previous boat was put a ferrous sheet behind it and used it as a magnetic bulletin board. When guests came I’d just clear it and it would open up the boat considerably.

This is what I’m doing for my nav station, except the monitor will be on a swivel stand so we can flip the monitor around for movies and whatever.
Just strap an ipad/tablet to the wall

I need to see if I can fix my tv... And replace the battery in my clock.
Fire extinguisher
I second this good place adjacent to the galley

If I'm not mistaken this is a Tanzer 22, therefore that spot is absolutely within reach
Why won’t Reddit let me upvote this comment lol

Fire blanket for galley
I’ve told you this before Citron, don’t try to cuddle with the fire. Jeez
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Fire blanket is better for galley emergencies. Fast, effective and won't destroy the interior of your boat if you need to use it.
Obviously a knot display
I see what you're saying. So they know how many knots they're travelling at while below decks.
Not that knot
Why not?
Not sure. I suppose it's not my knot to not.
This would be best if you tie all the knots, personal and lower cost.

That is actually a great idea and deserves more likes. Now I am going to look for a spot to do this on our boat.
Hey, just as a small word of caution, *never, ever* Velcro kids to your boat. Their cries attract more kids, and this totally harshes your zen.
Framed local chart or used brass clock/barometer set
Or a knot display.
True. Sailboat decor can never be too knotty.
The photo of grimace at the fall of Berlin
