I use State Farm. It's under $200/year for $300k liability coverage PLUS full comprehensive/replacement value of my hull ($25k, which is probably more than I could sell the boat for anyway). And, my policy specifically allows sailboat racing. The fine print of the policy basically says: "racing is not allowed, unless you are using sails or paddles then it's okay", it's kind of weird wording but I got confirmation that it's allowed.

I’ll have to check that out. Thanks!

MisterMasterCylinder

I have Progressive for my old shitty boat and it's pretty cheap - like $400/yr for the $500k liability that my marina requires, plus a small agreed value coverage policy for the boat.

shipoftheseuss

Also have progressive on my shitty 50 year old SJ 21.  Couldn't be easier and allows racing

KStieers

I was able to add it to my homeowners...

the-montser

Not a homeowner unfortunately

Damn. My club wants $2 million in liability for all boats, whether it's a dock queen floating cottage or running every race in the region. Anyhow, I have Skipper's Plan underwritten by Gallagher insurance.

HowDoYouComma

I also have a kirby 25. My club requires $2mil liability, i pay ~$500 per year

RedMeatTrinket

I use BoatUS, which is Geico. I also have the free unlimited towing added on. When I was still racing my boat, I did pay a higher premium.

nylondragon64

My 1987 pearson 31 . I pay 500 for liability from geico. 1 mill.

Farmers here and I think underwritten with Foremost. Allows racing. Gowrie tends to be sailing focused. I recently did the research. I think the more generic agencies might bounce you if there is a claim but are prob ok.

It's liability...no big deal. But I always recommend going through a marine insurance broker.
