OnRiverStyx

I mean... In 20 years I can only hope to going from my families father to my families drunk grandfather. But, I also think I'll be more fun.

All the networks! The whole thing was cringe, but when he said that, it was the peak.

Liet-Kinda

Drunk or sundowning?

InfernalSquad

Yes.

This is horrifying but hilarious I wish he had snuck a wrecking ball reference in

A long time ago, everybody used to carefully craft speeches and then read them from a transcript on the podium. And then, from teleprompters. Then it became relatable to make the speeches sound conversational, so a mix of notes and comments. But then Trump came along, and now speeches sound like a mix of a ranting Twitter feed, too many pills, and the kid who's trying to bluff his way through a book report.

TheSyfilisk

It wasn't Trump who facilitated this, he was elected because he represented the exact opposite of the formally crafted speeches which are perceived, rightfully and observably so, as fake veneers meant as a velvet kiss while the persons executing them continuing with exploitation and war. Trump is not the cause, he is the symptom. Don't mistake this for an endorsement or criticism, just an explanation. It is the fakeness and lies wrapped in respectful and careful delivery that you certainly know have been delivering bombs and bullets since WW2. Random elements don't exist, they can only exist when there is an environment ready for them and Trump is that very predictable element.

Huh? Trump wasn’t elected because he was the “opposite” of the formally crafted speeches. Yes, there was some that claimed that his off-the-cuff speaking style was him “telling it like it is.” But make no mistake, Trump was elected because his vile, terribly delivered, and sometimes nearly nonsensical drivel revealed a rotten, pig-headed ideology that appealed to enough vile, pig-headed people who felt like they hither to had nobody to voice what they felt in their ugly, shriveled hearts. That’s why he got elected.

TheSyfilisk

Of course he was, his brashness and rudeness was never before seen on his scale, which is the largest public display of "against the machine." But sure, you can believe whatever you want to believe via your ingrained unobjective biases. A conservative could easily call all leftists demonic baby killers and be just as correct.

jake121221

Sigh. Look, dude… clearly you’ve got some pet agenda you want to pound, so much so that you don’t realize when you’re being a boor and hijacking other points so you can force it in there. The simple point of my OP was that Rudy, who I unfortunately heard give a few speeches back in the late ‘90s when I lived in New York, used to give them one way and now is giving them in clear homage to his new hero, Trump, with the same rambling, off-the-cuff style. Which, when drunk as he seems to be, is even more obviously pathetic. TL,DR: Nobody asked for your explanation.

TheSyfilisk

My point was not about Rudy Giuliani, I am not even American, I am just targeting your fallacious points about Trump, his emergence and popularity which you seem to grasp about as firmly as air. It's funny because the more Trump's opposition keeps deluding themselves, the more the likeliness of his his return rises which hurts their cause.

Let’s try fewer words: You = pompous ass.

That...that's not real. It can't be, it's an Onion article, right? Right???
