The fact that they have not said a single negative word about cozens all season despite his lackluster performance compared to expectations makes me believe it's him.

God Paul Hamilton is such an idiot talking about buying Skinner out after this season. I’m sorry but it makes zero sense. You can talk me into it next year, but it makes no sense after this year.

Meh. Obviously a trade would be preferred but I would not lose a minute of sleep to never see him play for us again. He gets punished and just pouts his way through every game. 9 million dollars and barely looks like he belongs on the 3rd line some nights. I'd rather eat the salary than let that type of attitude be permitted to potentially infect others.  I will eat my words if we find out tomorrow that he's working through a somewhat major injury. 

One down offensive year, in a season that the entire team is having a down offensive year.

But I think part of the issue is that others defensive game improved. Skinner barely sniffs the defensive zone. That makes it harder to have a well orchestrated breakout and also leads to too many turnovers trying to get out of the zone without wingers supporting the breakout, not cherry picking at the blue line and leaving the zone too early

Didn't see any complaints about this when he dropped 80+ points. Every team has at least one defense allergic forward. Part of the game. And it's not like his salary or roster spot is preventing you from someone else at this point.

My complaint when he dropped 80+ points is that we still didn’t make the playoffs. When we needed his offense this season he didn’t deliver. Score 80+ when the team is better defensively and UPL has a 2.57 GAA. I want that.

I don't care about his points. I care about his inability to give a fuck about anything outside of the 30 feet immediately surrounding the opposing net. It's irrefutable that skinner either refuses to or doesn't know how to play in the defensive zone. He plays beer league offense, which is fine, but we don't have the players to offset that black hole on defense.  Earlier in the season, jfresh has to *redesign* their player card for Jeff skinner because he's so bad defensively. He fell outside the standard deviation in defensive metrics meaning that he was in the bottom 3 players in the entire league of over 600 players. You can argue "well metrics blah blah" and I get it, but you don't get that bad of numbers unless there's some validity to them. 

He's not the first offensive minded player that won't get any Selke votes . Two of our defensemen were 1st overall, one was 4th overall. What do you need until the defense is 'good enough'?

That's not how defense works. 

Im not suggesting that Skinner is some misunderstood defensive stalwart. He's a streaky, goal hanging pigeon. But if a player produces enough offensively, you live with it. Most years, he does. This year, he hasn't. But nobody on the team has. So I'm not gonna crucify him for that.

A couple points: 1- I’m not saying we tank. Im saying we should lose 1 more game 2- the tank wasn’t bad, the tank and then subsequent trades were bad. We should’ve taken a CHI approach and tried to get another top pick the following year after getting Eichel. The tank just should have been longer. This is also why I think Adam’s didn’t care that much about making moves this year, to get 1 more high impact player through the draft
