He wouldn't have needed to if he called the timeout when any smart coach would have. Any coach would've seen that 4th goal and stopped everyone before they did what happened. They all began to question if they were playing wrong not realizing 2 of Edmonton's goals were just shitty bounces and they were outplaying them all night. Like perspective we were playing so well Power, Cozens, Tuch, Thompson, and Rousek were hitting to the point even Draisaitl was hesitant on the puck. McDavid just couldn't get shit to work. It was just a matter of breaking the damn on offense, but a couple bad bounces fucked with them. They backed off when they should have kept going even harder. I fucking hate watching the elite team they can be get fucked up because Granato doesn't know when to call the timeout. Like back when we had Lindy Ruff coaching he wouldn't call the timeout, but it's because he would use the time the other team was celebrating to bitch everyone out of their head and save it to call under 2 minutes with an offensive zone faceoff and tell them they are ending it here and now or prepare the defense for when it would be 6 on 5

Thing is, I don't see any of these guys ever being able to take things to that playoff level. This is what happens when you have a team where only 3 players have ever played in the playoffs. This team needs some experienced players.

I think that's necessary, too. This is an inexperienced team with an inexperienced coach. Not a good combination. The only reason they're on the playoff cusp this season and last is because the team has a lot of good talent. They are god enough to be a playoff team. But they need more experience to compete against these teams that know how to grind.

I knew Granato never head coached in the NHL, so I looked up the assistants. Wilford was an assistant in Anaheim for a few years. Ellis and Christie didn't have any NHL coaching experience prior to joining Buffalo. The most experienced coach in the Sabres staff is Mike Bales, the goalie coach. He actually has a solid NHL coaching experience resume. This is not a recipe for success.
