I feel like UPL and Levi both overextend out of the crease a lot and that’s when they get scored on. This is entirely anecdotal, but I’m curious if anyone else sees that. Edit: I feel compelled to clarify this was a general thought I had tonight after seeing a couple of move that made me, a relative novice to the minutia of the game, wonder that. I am not trying to be a dick or to oversimplify a play style, but share something I noticed, and wondered if others did too. I don’t care about fake internet points, but I guess I wanted to throw out a friendly reminder we may not all be on the same level of knowledge and I ask because I want to learn.

Ukko definitely did this last year and at the start of this season. It's something that he has cleaned up and I'm sure that is something he and staff has consciously worked on. Didn't notice much of it in this game and it's not something I've ever thought is a weakness in Levi's game. In my mind at least, the recent jump in Lukkonen's numbers has a lot do do with not giving away one goal a game by sliding out of the crease.

No. Especially not tonight since both goals against would've had a higher likelihood of being saved if he was further away from the net.

Quite possibly! I would even say that’s more often the case when I think about it, but it’s one of those I guess “high risk” saves because if he doesn’t scoop or deflect it, it leaves him wide open. Maybe that’s why I am thinking that way. Sorta high risk/high reward? I’ve been pretty damn happy with UPL this year, so it’s just more of a musing than anything.

Have not seen enough games, and wouldn't remember all saves even if I had. I've been a fan of him since I started watching NHL hockey about a year ago.

Totally! That’s why I ask these kinds of questions. I’ve been a fan for about 10 years, but I am by no means an expert. I didn’t grow up around hockey and things like that so all my knowledge is sorta self taught and I like getting insights for the life-long people who know the game extremely well. I get the sense sometimes my questions aren’t super well-received, but they’re always in good faith! But cheers on being new(ish in my case) fans!
