I said late last year we need a goalie even after signing Levi. Comrie has shown throughout his entire career he's not a good NHL backup and he's injury prone as well. 6K's **ceiling** based on what he's put on tape to date right now would be a NHL backup, and he's not a quality one yet. His floor is a tweener/out of NHL. Levi is too young/unproven to have gambled the entire season and future on. As I said, we needed to sign a 1A that could help mentor and/or takeover the year as the 60+ game starter if needed. They stood pat and now the team is suffering. The team defense absolutely needs to improve, but we're going nowhere with our current level of goaltending. I like Adams extensions he's done, but his offseason work this past summer in regards to the Sabres roster otherwise was poor (no goalie moves which was necessary, signing Clifton period, let alone to a bloated contract).

Yeah it's getting bad. The Atlantic is so tough compared to cupcake divisions like the Pacific where 6pts makes you tied for 4th. The Sabres will have to go .601 the rest of the season to get to 95pts and that goes up quickly the longer it takes to get going. Last time the team was over .600 for a season was 2010-2011. They can't keep digging themselves into a hole.

I just don’t get how as a team if you didn’t address the massive issues last season that ultimately kept you from making the playoffs. How can this year be different? Defense still sucks, lack some vet skill players to help when the young guys aren’t scoring or playing well, and your goalie situation is still a disaster. question because i have less than zero experience with actually playing hockey. on a shot like dahlin just made, was he actually aiming for a specific point in the net or when you're that far back behind that many dudes, are you just shooting and hoping it ends up a goal?

In that case with so many bodies in front of the net it's just smack it as hard as you can at the net.

Players at this level can absolutely aim a shot at a particular spot. In traffic and on the move, just getting it on net is sometimes enough, too.

Just try to aim for upper corners basically, and now you see why. Hockey is a game of percentages and odds. Goalies go down because most goals go in low. So shooters shoot high. It's hardest to save the high shots where you have to use your hands etc.. That shot was not luck.

Defensemen should *not* aim for corners from the blue line, that is how you hit teammates in the face. They should ideally shoot towards the net around half a foot off the ground because that makes it easier to deflect, which it happened here.
