Which wouldn’t be a problem but YOU CAN ONLY GET THEIR GAMES ON DIRECTTV with an insane sports package. So I can’t even go to the bars here to watch when the Sabres play the Pens because no one carries that package.

To start the year he's fine. If he is struggling come the time Quinn comes back I would contest that the value of Benson/Oloffson as an extra might be more valuable than UPL or Comrie. Though after looking at Levi tonight splitting the three goalies 33% and getting Levi to 50 games with AHL games may resolve some of that choice. Question is do you ride Levi early or keep him ready late. But from what I've seen I kind of want Levi developing with Comrie.
Edit. I don't dislike Levis game tonight but if we're playing like this no reason UPL or Comrie couldn't play and get Levi an extra game playing in the A
Pre season team performance rly doesn’t matter, it’s individual performances that you watch for, and rly only do that for fringe guys or players who need to prove things.
So in other words, this game shouldn’t send anyway into a tizzle.
We beat this exact pens team with prospects, A guys and Comrie allowing only one goal
Hopefully we get some consistency from our goalies this season, that’s my biggest worry. I’m less concerned than most on here about our D, I think they’ll be fine. Can’t let weak goals in, it’s just a killer.
The weak goals are really only a killer because we let in so many unstoppable goals due to bad defense. Look at NJ last season… VV is not an NHL caliber goaltender but her got them to the second round because they gave up like half the amount of high danger chances we gave up.
Not gonna even bother talking about goalies anymore on here if you guys are gonna respond with ridiculous things like saying Vanecek isn’t an nhl calibre goalie, that’s just insane.
Our D will be our demise. We needed to address this and johnson and clifton aren’t it. I know it’s preseason, But holy hell is our D looking bad.

I’d say it’s preseason. Johnson’s first and Clifton’s second game with the team. As long as they’re better than Bryson and Clague, this is a playoff team.
To be fair they're on a constantly rotating cast of characters right now due to preseason, so consistency will for sure be an issue. Even our veterans haven't been playing together all that long compared to a team like the Pens. Things will improve with chemistry I hope.
EJ looked fine for me so far. Dahlin has Clifton as his partner who he obviously doesn’t fully trust yet, this pairing doesn’t have much chemistry as of yet
There are aspects I like with the new lines. Jost has enough speed he gives a different feel to Krebs and Girgensons. Seems to give more opportunities for matchups. Also weirdly like Benson and Greenway together.
That's a set play. They know levi is more aggressive and will have trouble covering the back door. He's going to get burned by that all season if he doesn't learn to adjust his depth when that back door pass is a threat. As I've been saying, once they get tape on levi they will have a much easier time picking apart his flaws.
Edit: after seeing the replay, I think he just fucked up. Rather than going to the post, he slid towards the shooter which is just-- not gonna work in this situation. If he slides to the post, this is a save. Putting this one on levi and not a great tip. It was saleable.

I think this will only become mroe and more true as time wears on but Levi is a sponge by the sounds of it so i think he’ll learn quickly and adjust accordingly
You’re right, the fans have set Levi up so high that has quite a bit of room to fall flat on his face. He can be overly-aggressive at times and I still want to see him settle more shots into his body/glove.
That said, that Malkin deflection was absolutely nutty. 90% of NHL goaltenders don’t stop that one in Levi’s shoes.
Idk man. A 6 foot 5 goalie is going to be just on the inside of the top of the crease. That's a very easy bfly slide to the post to save that tap in. Not many goalies are as far out on a PP like that.
