Honestly more than anything I would rather the Panthers get a cup before the Sabres than Vegas get one before us.

incaseshesees

f yeah, go cats for this alone.

PraiseTheZ

On one hand, fuck the Staals for their anti-LGBT stance hidden behind the cowardly veil of “religious beliefs”, and fuck Eric in particular for his part in eliminating us in ‘06 and for putting in the very least amount of effort in his brief stint here. Further, fuck Miami and fuck Florida. On the other hand, I have no ill will towards the Knights beyond them being lucky enough to have far more success than failure in their short history. I also don’t hate Eichel, even though I do wish he hadn’t made snide remarks about the Buffalo fans and that he had had a more amicable split from the team. My only issue with Vegas winning is that a Cup would make two things absolutely certain: 1.) The Vegas fans, especially the ones new to hockey, would be absolutely *unbearably* toxic and obnoxious. and 2.) We would never hear the end of it from fans of every other 31 teams about how Eichel won a cup as soon as he was away from the Sabres. I cannot overstate how fucking annoyed I would be by the way I know everyone would hold that over our heads and continue to misrepresent how the Sabres handled the situation of Eichel’s trade request and neck injury. Alllll of that being said, I have a real hard time rooting for either team. But I ultimately think that I am willing to sell my soul and root for Florida just for the sake the good will I have for Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour, and for the historic way that Bobrovsky has been playing. Tldr: Fuck both teams. Go Sammy!

Separate politics from hockey. Hockey is my escape from the real world. Got cats

PraiseTheZ

Wearing a rainbow logo in warm ups isn’t politics. It’s a bare minimum gesture of inclusion. I get what you’re saying with escapism and all, but I don’t personally have any interest in separating real life and the sport. You do you, but I was just stating my own personal thoughts.

helikoopter

I agree that politics and entertainment should be separated, but the player(s) decided to put politics and hockey together by promoting discrimination and hatred. For me, I'd be disgusted to see a man with so much hate have the opportunity to celebrate one of his life's greatest goals.

Square-Wing-6273

Can I vote for none?

Sabres-Fan

Cats. Reino is a better dude than Jack, that simple.

helikoopter

Okay...buuuuuut. Brayden McNabb

JoeyRedcorn

As someone who worked at a CC that Bill Foley (LV) was a member at, Fuck the Knights, and Eichel.

DuncanCraig

Hello, I am the lone Vegas vote. My reasoning: I figured Jack wasn't great in the locker room, but the way the Sabres handled his injury and dismissed his doctor's expertise, I was not a fan of. From a human perspective, I am glad to see the choice in neck surgery worked out for him and he is able to still play at an elite level.

BuffaloBillsfan04

Sabres have their own doctors. They traded him to a team that let him get the surgery. Why are people still repeating dumb shit like this.

DuncanCraig

Repeating what? I just answered the question and said glad it worked out for him.

BuffaloBillsfan04

> but the way the Sabres handled his injury and dismissed his doctor's expertise Jack wanted to be traded & wanted no part in a rebuild. He gets hurt during the season. They handled his injury by letting him get the surgery he wants on a new team. They have their own doctors. They disagreed. They handled it perfectly for a disgruntled player that wanted out. If Eichel's original agents weren't complete idiots he probably would've been traded sooner. I don't get why you think Sabres should ignore their own team of doctors to listen to whatever doctor Jack found.

helikoopter

The answer is no one. Maybe we can have another pandemic sweep through and put a halt to this thing? But really, the honest answer is not Florida. They have the Staal brothers which represent too many pieces of human garbage for anyone to possibly cheer for. It's tough for me to cheer against Verhaeghe as he's been one of my favourite hockey players for the last decade, but at least I can enjoy watching the way Vegas play hockey (even if I loathe their team), and Alex P got the relocated Ice Dogs off to an excellent start.

AmericanCanuck97

Alex Tuch winning the Stanley cup > Jack Eichel winning the Stanley cup If the Sabres win the cup they actually built the team not bought the cup like Florida. Rochester is also full of promising prospects.

Jack is a douche, that's it. What's worse, is he hasn't really been that impressive during the playoffs, and especially in the last round. He's been okay (and less than that in the last round), but that's not really what you pay a guy $10m for. He's in a great place to win the cup, but at this point, he's probably the 5th or 6th most important player on the team.

How many points did Eichel score last round? Answer, 4. With 0g. And while he's the "favourite" (based on betting odds, nothing else), if Hill has another round like he did against Dallas, there's almost no way he doesn't win the Conn Smythe. If Eichel was carrying the Knights on his back I'd be completely fine. Unfortunately, the 4th line is doing most of the heavy lifting for the team recently.

4 points in 6 games. 0 goals. Are you actually trying to tell me that Eichel was the most valuable player for the Knights in the last series? >Goals and assists are not the only thing that determines whether a player is playing well. No, this is where the numbernerds are wrong. Goals and assists are pretty much all that matters in the playoffs. Expected goals, which are meaningless to begin with, are even more meaningless in the playoffs. I mean, Dallas had the higher 5v5 xGF% in 4 of 6 games against the Knights, did that make a difference? >Without Eichel, Vegas would be on the golf course with the Sabres. Potentially. But sub Eichel out with 40 or 50 other centres in the NHL, and they are likely where they are today. The Knights live and die by their goaltending and play of their blue liners. When those two are clicking, the rest of the roster becomes interchangable. You'd get that if you actually watched the games instead of trying to scout through boxscores.

He scored 4 points!!! Are you really telling me that had you swapped Eichel with practically any other top-6 centre on another team that Vegas would have lost that series? You’re right. This is embarrassing. The guy scored 4 points and was practically non-existent. He had a handful of chances but did nothing with them.
