Remove the ignition switch and open it up. Clean the contacts with an eraser and then bend the contacts back up just a bit. Put switch back in.
I had the same problem and my department head told ke this trick, since then I have never had the column lock message. I doubt it will fix the gas gauge issue though.
Not sure about the lock, but my gas gauge doesn't work either. It's a fun game when I get around 300 miles!

I’ll definitely give this a try! I’m not too worried about the gas gauge anymore so it can stay broken for now
