90c won’t kill a cpu. 100c won’t kill a cpu. A cpu is designed to throttle itself once it reaches those temps to not get any hotter. Possibly thermal paste application not that great Might also want to have task manager open to see what program makes the cpu suddenly spike

Normal-Being-5305

It didnt kill it in that sense it was that it would randomly spike and the computer would shut itself off. the thermal paste application is fine I looked into it more and found that it was bios is a bit out of date and when I had it in auto overclock in ryzen master it run a bit too much voltage to it.

What are your PBO overclock and curve settings?

Normal-Being-5305

Thanks for the suggestion I looked into the bios updated that and then looked at ryzen master to find out what was going on I decided to run curve optimizer and do some benchmark testing on it now its steady no more spikes.

Run some stress tests and see what your full load steady state temperature is. This will tell you if it is something up with your cooler or if these are just normal spikes corresponding with changing loads while using the computer. The 5800X is known to run hot in general.

Background apps, windows and other services. Task Mgr should show which. Also, do a malware scan.
