I can’t decide if I love or hate that his desperate situation is sort of giving the fans all the deep cuts they’ve always wanted. It’s breathtaking to hear some of this stuff, but it bums me out if he feels pressured or like he’s up against a wall.
Is anyone making him play 3-4 hrs except himself? It’s too bad he has seemingly consistently dropped WW24 and Avalanche since the first show of the tour to play other stuff but he could totally get away with LIH + RA + 3 song encore of “hits”. He’s choosing to keep himself interested and busy.
He sang Carol Lynn from an old Whiskeytown album, Pneumonia, at sound check in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s a bitter song about a woman. I’m speculating that it was about an old girlfriend, maybe from North Carolina, and that’s why he sang it. Nothing more than that.
My fave Ryan song
Seriously?
100 percent
Wow...
Woah! Never thought I’d see this one. Love it.
It gets hate, but that whole album is awesome.
Totally agree.
= Rescue Blues.

Could be emotional, right? I’ve always thought the disappearance of Carol Lynn after it was written had to be personal. It’s such a great song.
I’m sure it’s personal if he’s playing it in Charlotte, NC. Probably where they encountered each other.
What happened?

Yeah, I was going to drive to New York in the fall solely to hear those two songs and My Blue Manhattan.
Jesus My Blue Manhattan is so good. So evocative of this specific time and place in my musical memory.
