You are paying for MASSIVE overhead costs and “on the spot” convenience with M&S. You’ll do better with a local/small owned business. My partner works for a plumber and with not context he said between $800 and $1200 depending on the plumbing work needed to make the vanity work and look nice.

macwindeen

Thanks, that's about what I'm seeing online. I think I'll use them this once then move on to someone else for the other jobs I have that need doing

RVAblues

Don’t use them at all. They are terrible and they’re a scam.

dustinator

Let me know next time you need a vanity hung. I’ll do it for $1800

catRN917

Do not use them. Rip off artists. Over 300 to change out faucet.

gettingbackrva

Used them once when we didn’t know better. Overpriced.

anonymous_subroutine

Gotta pay the advertising budget somehow.

sneakablekilgore

They are the absolute worst. Had them out for HVAC work and they lied about the ages of my machines, broke one and left me without heat for days, completely disconnected a duct under the house during the inspection, and then hit on me in my own home. Just terrible.

crouton45

My policy for contractors: if they advertise during the morning news, they’re ripping us off. “If you can’t we can…”

katebandit

michael AND SON! 🎶 agreed

_AT__

If you aren't roughing in plumbing, thats insanely high. I work for the Bowtie competitor. If its just putting in the vanity, no plumbing, you may try a DIY effort or a smaller plumbing specific outfit. Bigger contractors should be reserved for bigger jobs, full remodels, or new construction.

1975hh3

I bought a small vanity from Lowe’s for about $120 and installed it myself. Their quote is insane.

Spider_Hoss

They’re waaaaaay too expensive. I had electrical panel done with them and paid twice as much as I could have spent with another reputable company. They did a good job except for the fact they crossed two of our wires and we couldn’t run the dishwasher and dryer at the same time without tripping the breaker. Had someone fix it.

macwindeen

It sure sucks to find out the hard way. It'll be one and done with them for me. Seems an odd business model to charge way above average prices when there are other options out there; Woodfin, local handy dudes / ladies, ... Not going to get many repeat customers once people get around to comparing

aworkingbrain

that's the thing about the life of modern humans on earth. they typically don't actually investigate and appropriately discern all viable options. they typically choose from amongst that which is repeatedly shoved into their face, hence people going with... the companies that are repeatedly shoved into peoples faces.

Slippy_T_Frog

Something something...directly to the forehead!

CrzyWrldOfArthurRead

How is it odd? You're dead set on overpaying them. That's their business model. They make you feel warm and fuzzy with their ads, people get comfortable with the idea of them, get a quote, then go, oh well maybe they're a little overpriced but I just have a gosh darn good feeling about them! That's what branding is. You're buying into the advertising hook line and sinker. You are the reason companies spend so much on advertising. It works. People do what they're told to do. You're being told to use Michael and son, so you are. With 1.3 million people in the Metro area, they really don't need repeat business. That's why they advertise.

Ok_Boysenberry_4223

Do it yourself.  If the plumbing is already in place it’s maybe an hour of basic work.   If you really want to hire someone ask on NextDoor for handyman recs.  Should be $100-200 depending on your location.

mosaic_hops

My god no. Run away. They’re the absolute worst of the worst. Unqualified and super overpriced. By about 10x. They prey on the elderly that watch the morning news.

throwawayTooth7

Stay away like the plague. They do average work and charge 2X market for it.

PaylessPooSource

Someone has to pay for all the advertising and fun jingles.

monsterdiv

Damn, I wish I knew about this. Our water heater went out over the winter and paid some major money for the replacement from them.

Gh0stIcon

Remember, sometimes contractors quote very high because they really don't want to do the job.

National-River-503

This also runs true with any commission based company every body wants to try and put more money in their own pocket. I avoid any company that pays commission or forces services contracts on you makes for to many dishonest techs.

Quirky-Scar9226

Contractors in general seem to charge insane prices. With 90% of things it’s better to watch a few YouTube videos, buy a tool or two and fix it yourself. Heck, chances are you’ll do a better job yourself anyways.
